That algorithm animation was smooth as hell, nice. Whole animation kinda feels like an extension of the original's surreal nature instead of just a remake of it.
There wasn't always an ultimatum there. I miss back when making your own content just for the sake of making something and leaving your mark on the internet was enough.

I have a collection of ultimatum videos and this is one of the best quality wise. Considering the originality or slightly different takes on some scenes it might actually BE the best.
@@alexjeffrey3981wait, but this is certainly original. it's simply a remix of pilotredsun's original. sure it copied the style, but that's the point of this remix. their goal was to mimic the style and they did a really good job of accomplishing it. they gave it a new original idea by changing the theme while keeping to the "ultimatum" story. this is what art is all about, inspiring ideas in others :)

That doesn't detract from its value as art but it kinda contradicts the artist's claim.
@@alexjeffrey3981 hm... to me it seems the opposite. i feel like the artist's (Delaxin) desire to make original content is being washed away by their desire for a larger audience. and so the creator resorts to shameless content, pumping out easy videos for views. they haven't actually done that of course, but i feel like Delaxin thinks that's what they need to do to keep up with "the algorithm".
@@demonindenim yeah that's the fundamental problem of the ultimatum, that in order to be a "successful" (monetarily) content creator you have to follow trends and serve the algorithm rather than take the artist's approach of creating from the heart. It's not even a new problem, it's the exact same as musicians "selling out" or other equivalent decisions. The only other option is either to accept that art is simply a hobby, or to get lucky and have your personal style become popular in itself.
this is really well made, if I hadn't watched the original, I wouldn't think anything was amiss. it's impossible to tell that you've ripped any animations or frames from anything else, upon first watch at least. you must have cut very carefully around certain frames by hand, and traced others. I also commend the choice of strange animations, like the robot walk, and everything on the end card. I like the creative decision at the end, where in the original, the "christmas cretin" line goes for a bassy, deepfried vibe, your version is hard to hear and everything overpowers it. both good examples of terrible sound mixing! edit: second time around! I like the little details, like the dream mask, participation youtube plaque, the signs in walmart saying 'come' and 'leave', then in the next shot it says 'bye'. also, either two people came in through the bye door, or they had to look around at the bot dancing as they were leaving. I like the choice of mount rushmore too. also did you make a model of a youtube robot in a pc for this video? and is that rat coming up and eating jesus' leg in the original? I feel like it's just something I never noticed in the original video. but if you added that just because, I am dumbfounded by the unnecessary effort. I'll have to look out for it when I next watch christmas ultimatum. basically what I'm asking is, is that part oringe? or is it bót? overall, this video is almost on par with the original, and the only reason it isn't is because: 1. I like the tale of the christmas cretin more. that santa comes to him personally, recognising that he is a materialistic man, alone on christmas eve, and he cannot even be content with his new tv and destroys it in rage, and santa offers this ultimatum; repent, make the effort to become better, or resign yourself to who you are. and having chosen the wrong option, he then walks out and dances, seemingly saying 'look at me. this is who I am, you cannot change that.' and at the end his expression is almost unreadable, but seems to convey serenity, acceptance. 2. I like how the grinch in the original looks more, particularly the last frames. and 3. the last reason you don't reach the same level as the original is simply the meta reason that you didn't come up with the overall idea, but remixed it. but it's an incredible remix.
