See you took off from Fort Smith and right over Yellowtail Dam. Then Ok-A-Beh. Past Pretty Eagle and then past the mouth of Black Canyon. Your wide angle lens is throwing me off with too much curvature of the Madison Limestone. Big Bull Elk is the small finger off to the left in as you get into Bull Elk Basin. And a slight turn for a look up little Bull Elk at the 7:00 minute mark. Skip when you must have circled back around to the left. At 9:30 over the little piece of land just north of Bull Elk Basin where they have had a floating restroom in the past, but I saw nothing there when you took this flight. Over the faint two track leading out to Eye of the Eagle around 10:51. A more prominent two track at 10:59 just before going over the canyon edge. to be over the dramatic geologic fold known as the Monocline where the rim drops from 2,000 feet above the lake to only 400 feet above the lake. At 10:57 the remains of the NPS radio repeater facility on the very left edge. At 11:06 the finger of rock on the right edge contains an arch (actually a short cave - most of it eroded away long ago - known as the Eye of the Eagle barely noticeable. At 11:08 the dramatic fold. At 11:35 that spot of shine is part of Dryhead Canyon which joins just after the Monocline. At 11:55 the rock surfaces rising from the Bighorn Lake shoreline are actually the surface of the rock layers instead of the edge of the layers we have been seeing all along so far. You obviously are not going to get down south to the Devil Canyon Overlook area. Too bad. That is nice as well. Do you need a front seat passenger to explain the geology next time you fly the canyon? Contact the Visitor Center in Lovell where they can show you a great film on the geology and a cool display of two Bighorn Rams about to butt heads. Ask the head of Interpretation if she knows a good knowledgeable geologist who will go flying anytime you like. A good friend of mine watched this with me and just had to type this in. He said old rangers don't fade away, they just keep on telling stories. At 12:25 he could spot the Eye of the Eagle close to the left edge. Great flight pilot. Thanks
