I don't know if it's the clarinet, the setup or what but it so lacks positive resistance. Well brassy is a good word to describe this. I myself play on a Festival clarinet which has less resistance than the R-13 or the Tosca but I use much closer mouthpiece and a bit thicker reeds than players around me playing on R-13 or Tosca clarinets. I like the resistance in the setup not in the instrument but still the instrument needs more positive resistance than this. Heard Sharon Kam play the Devine in another video and it was the same story as here.
I prefer resistance in the instrument but resistance has no value on it's own. It should be for the density of sound. What's more important you want evenness
Is The divine clarinet the RC developed where. As the Tosca is the R13? I personally prefer the sound of the R13. However the low F correction key. It's all a matter of preference. God bless Bill- UK
Yeah because my teacher owns a Divine himself, but it sounds so much different from the video when I hear him play. Of course, I have no doubt Paul is a great clarinetist! :)
I kind of wish they didn't get Paul Meyer to do all the demonstrating - I really dislike his sound... I'm sure it's lovely, but it just sounds way too brash with few colours and that may be down to the fact that it sounds like he's basically overblowing all the time. However having just heard that Spohr clip at the end, I'm not sure because it sounded really good then.
He can play nice but I also heard him play like shit. However when testing like he does here, the point is to just blow, not trying to modulate the sound.
Is any body can tell me where I can find the serial number list to compare whit my own clarinet serial number and find out when was manufacture? Thanks
Plus Buffet studios have a very poor and bad sound, i know it for having tested clarinets there. It's a shame because in a good music room, they sound so much better! To those who want to listen to this new clarinet, try listening to Paul Meyer's recording of the Spohr Clarinet Concertos with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, I highly advise this CD !
As mentioned in many other comments, I believe the sound capture in these studio is really pathetic.... This instrument and player really deserve a much better setup. If you draw conclusions from what you hear, chances are you will not run to you nearby shop to buy this extraordinary clarinet.
mon clarinete est enorgonomique puisque j'ai change' la posizion du fulcre du leverage longue du do diesis , (il fulcro della leva lunga del do diesis deve essere inclinato differentemente dal fulcro della leva lunga del si ) je suis en facebook et dans un video CAM00333 venez me voir en fb
If the Divine generates revenues for Buffet, maybe they can afford a decent microphone next time!
lol
Funny ! some people judge the sound on what they hear on youtube ! LOL

Beautiful

The sound of the horn, at least on my computer with external speakers(JBL) is lousy.
Maybe the sound track?
I want this clarinet soo bad! Both Bb and A!

Pyfacefornever I think it's just the mic that sounds bad.

Great video!

I want to buy one!!!
@canibfamous That was my first thought too! He says they're all superb, maybe it's his tone rather than the clarinets...
Ok, starting at 06:10, this sounds like a saxophone. Not sure I like it!
I prefer a good rc, divine clarinet´s are so so so expensive!
In india only Nader alle in merrut Delhi of British co.manufacturer was good instruments. But now no others as like nader alley.

It sounds brassy, doesn't it?
Most interesting

Cuál es el precio de un clarinete divine sib
No momento 6:10 quando ele tocou sem a articulação, o timbre lembrou um pouco do oboé!!!
this clarinet very ninja! perfect! ;-)
What is the piece that is played at the end?
RandomDude401 Spohr clarinet concerto n1
Sounds slightly better on his new Spohr cd but not very much.
Metal rings weigh about as much as a violin bow? Carbon fiber rings make the instrument "much" easier to blow? Come on!
amazing but right... a violin bow weight should be between 59g and 62g
It's all true.
They should have done universal barrels hundred years ago.
In indian trumpet clarionet and sexophone it is to hard playing. I dont no reasons
I think it may be just the quality of the video.
Clarinet world is becoming like the High End Audio world......

Interesting video but terrible sound. So unfortunate for such a great musician and an excellent instrument.
Redundant to say "I'm French" in French. It sounded like an oboe, btw.
is it just me or how paul plays the instrument sounds more like an oboe to me O.o
The sound is not right.Almost ugly.Sorry may be something about the microphone.
what a orrible sound!!!!! at now Buffet clarinet sucks, They don't do beautiful instrument anymore
meh
