I lost 25 cents on a bet in 9th grade. After thinking it over, I have never gambled again. The cost to society is far greater than the cost to the overall losers, which is great in itself. And the morality of taking something that I didn’t work for is troubling. Troubling to me was the guy that wrote The Book of Virtues, Bill Bennett. He said that he loved to gamble and made bets as high as a million dollars because he could afford it. That reminds me of the parable about the man who had so much that he had to build more barns to hold it all. God called him a fool. He could have shared his excess with his servants or met the needs of many of the poor, but his own pleasure was all he thought about.
I would be interested in a more expanded evaluation of the crypto currency craze from a Christian perspective. Maybe you’ve already done one and I missed it. I’ve been listening only about 2 weeks.
Before the coming of the Holy Spirit bringing the mind of Christ to the Christian, casting lots was a way of discerning the will of the Lord. There was no thought of “gambling”. The men they put forth met all the qualifications for the next apostle but rather than placing it to a vote where favoritism could carry the day they asked the Lord to raise up His choice. Once the Spirit came however it was” it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us.
Gambling definitionally requires the exchange of money or goods. Casting lots didn't. It was a way of recognizing the sovereignty of God over all things, even miniscule ones.

Mark Twain: "other countries have gambling casinos, we have our Wall Street"

They won’t be able to pay for that giant several billion dollar gambling center if everybody who gambles wins.
LOVE the perspective and listen every morning. How does Acts 1:26 fit in the “gambling” perspective?

Stan n Mariann.......Hawaii.
I'd like to remind folks that Donald Trump was in the casino business.....I'd like to hear what his stance is on this.
That's not the only moral stain associated with Trump. Yet some people call him "savior".
