I am drawn to the black cart because the height between shelves allows storage of tall items...craft books, deluxe planners, plastic storage containers, etc. For me, functionality vs color wins in this case.
I have and prefer the black one. I like the sheen it has, and the height of it. As a tall girl I like that the height of the top tier of the Target cart is closer to me.

I know this is an older post but I would get the target one. And I would not spray paint the entire thing, I would some paint and some a stencils and make it fun. This video right is on time because I'm currently destashing everything and my teal cart was beyond help it was a mess, so I switched to my other one ( I usually plan on my bed) and only putting the supplies I use on daily/ or a regular basis, so I am torn as well. Since I already have 2 Lexingtons I'm wondering if Lexington will be big enough even my daily essentials...hhmmm

Thank you for this video I neeed something to organize my nails stuff and I’m going with the black one. Only bc it’s a bit taller and I like that feature. I like black over white bc if something happens you won’t see any scratches or damages to the cart.
This is a fantastic review. I am on the hunt for a cart. I have never had one before. I thought I was going with the Michaels Lexington, however now I think the Hudson may win. I honestly like the black matte one better and feel the extra space b/t shelves will matter someday. I didn't know Target had these. Now I am adding another cart to compare, yea! Thanks for sharing. I was leaning towards michaels and like white, but black one looks sturdy, big and color isn't really a deal breaker so I'm getting Target and hoping to install top shelf upside down to use my cricut maker on.
I did that with the Michael's cart, but didn't use it like that very long because I was so nervous about my Cricut falling off the narrow area. I have a table my Cricut sit's on now and my Hudson cart works great for all my cards.

Personally I would keep the black for all the reasons you mentioned. Spray paint is a quick fix for color. Matter of fact I will be ordering me one and picking up a couple of cans of rose gold metallic spray paint because that would make a perfect beverage snack station in my new office/craft space. I like the Target cart better and will be taking the Hudson back and ordering the other. Now as far as the color is concerned, I am spray painting mines a light purple anyways. Please keep the Target one for the sturdiness use some Great glossy white spray paint Rustoleum because our planner things can get rather heavy and some need the extra height and you want the option to put tall things on all three shelves not just the top at the end of the day you have to be happy and just return the Micheals one and order your husband a Target one too and just leave it black Both of y’all will be happy

So I think that is a hard choice. My questions are can you live with the black next to the desk? How do each cart look in the space? Which cart looks better? I think I am more drawn to the Hudson. I think the target cart looks more utility and functional.

I just bought the Hudson cart in black at Michael's yesterday. Since you reviewed both side by side, now I want the Target one just because it is wider and taller. Go big, I need all of the space I can get for my planner and craft supplies. Right now, my Gramercy cart I got from Michael's a few months ago is so packed, I can't find anything on it.

Awesome review.I found and ordered mine three weeks ago after my Michaels smaller cart fell apart . And I love it. And yes Target rocked on the shipping. I received my earlier then expected. I say keep the black.🤗
The paper and pen girl 🤦🏾♀️ I’m sure it was defective and a matter of time, because the bolt inside the tube (leg) that screwed to the handle part some how came loose from the tube and was pushed inside the tube. Causing it to lean. It was crazy because i didn’t have that much weight on it. So I definitely did get another small recollections cart. I found the cart for Target and it worked out perfect. I’m able to put all of my planner items on it.
I have the Hudson cart in black and now I wished I had gotten the Target cart instead! I like the larger gap spacing the Target cart has because I do store my planners and Happy Notes in my cart and it looks so much easier to pull planners out of the shelves in the Target cart. You could paint the target cart white! I have the regular size target cart and the raskog and they are both equal in comparison but they just aren’t that wide. Tfs 💞

Hubby is trying to repeat a "snatch" he previously did. A year or so ago I bought a cart and he took it so I had to buy another one. Here he comes again, smh 😂😂. I have a black one now and I don't mind it at all but my desk in all white ..
Target cart, the height and height between shelves are the big features that are to good to overlook. The ease of getting stuff out and ability to have a few taller things- ❤️. Personally I would spray paint it a color ( I love some accent colors in my white furniture craft room) and spray polyurethane on top of paint and be a happy camper. Yes I hate, hate spray painting but the cart would make me happy- life is short so be 😃
I have been riding around with the hudson cart in my trunk for two months but now I am thinking about returning a getting the target cart. Have you tried filling both carts with your planner supplies for a true visual?

Love the comparison, Tamra. Personally, I would choose the Target cart. It's sturdier, wider, taller, and it could be sprayed with a new color. If you can't do it, ask your hubby to paint it for you. In my research of the smaller cart (between Michaels, Target, and Ikea), my priority was dimensions of the basket; my final verdict was on the Target cart (don't have it but still would like one even though I have a cheap version of said cart already). When I went to Target to just check on it, I found it quite sturdy, so I would think that the wider cart would be like so. I also like this wider cart and will plan to get it in the future, but probably in gray. Hope you put up a video and IG post about your final decision and what you put in it; and if you decided to keep or not the other cart. TFS!

Why not just spray paint the black one with a white gloss so you get the best of both worlds?

Same here! I was googling to buy the Hudson I saw someone had on fb and saw this video and sooooo glad I did!!
I would put the gloss protector on the black one and keep it. Some kind of paint protection to keep it from scratching. I hope that makes since.

I would do the black. My micheals cart makes it hard to get my planners in and out. Wish I would have saw the target one before I bought the micheals.

The paper and pen girl 🤦🏾♀️ I’m sure it was defective and a matter of time, because the bolt inside the tube (leg) that screwed to the handle part some how came loose from the tube and was pushed inside the tube. Causing it to lean. It was crazy because i didn’t have that much weight on it. So I definitely did get another small recollections cart. I found the cart for Target and it worked out perfect. I’m able to put all of my planner items on it.
I have the Hudson cart in black and now I wished I had gotten the Target cart instead! I like the larger gap spacing the Target cart has because I do store my planners and Happy Notes in my cart and it looks so much easier to pull planners out of the shelves in the Target cart. I would keep the Target cart and spray paint it white. Thank you so much for the comparison video Tamara! This will be very helpful for others who are considering buying either of these carts😊

You could paint the target cart white! I have the regular size target cart and the raskog and they are both equal in comparison but they just aren’t that wide. Tfs 💞

What are the inside dimensions of the shelves on the target. I put together the Hudson last week and was disappointed in the shelf inside dimensions.

As much as i personally like the black cart , and I have it, you might have to give hubby the black one. But it depends on what he's going to use it for.
Hubby gets nothing ... he already have a small cart that he previously snatched from me just to pile it up with junk and haven't used it in ages. Nope, he gets nothing 😂🤣😂

Target does have a smaller cart like the Lexington but I am not sure which one from Michael you are referring to 😁

Hubby is trying to repeat a "snatch" he previously did. A year or so ago I bought a cart and he took it so I had to buy another one. Here he comes again, smh 😂😂. I have a black one now and I don't mind it at all but my desk in all white ..
Target cart, the height and height between shelves are the big features that are to good to overlook. The ease of getting stuff out and ability to have a few taller things- ❤️. Personally I would spray paint it a color ( I love some accent colors in my white furniture craft room) and spray polyurethane on top of paint and be a happy camper. Yes I hate, hate spray painting but the cart would make me happy- life is short so be 😃

I have been riding around with the hudson cart in my trunk for two months but now I am thinking about returning a getting the target cart. Have you tried filling both carts with your planner supplies for a true visual?

Love the comparison, Tamra. Personally, I would choose the Target cart. It's sturdier, wider, taller, and it could be sprayed with a new color. If you can't do it, ask your hubby to paint it for you. In my research of the smaller cart (between Michaels, Target, and Ikea), my priority was dimensions of the basket; my final verdict was on the Target cart (don't have it but still would like one even though I have a cheap version of said cart already). When I went to Target to just check on it, I found it quite sturdy, so I would think that the wider cart would be like so. I also like this wider cart and will plan to get it in the future, but probably in gray. Hope you put up a video and IG post about your final decision and what you put in it; and if you decided to keep or not the other cart. TFS!
