I accidentally stabbed an arrow with a spear. Possibly the luckiest and most interesting thing I've ever done in a game. Even cooler than huntsman arrow collisions in tf2.
I had just released a smoke bomb that I was throwing at an archer in a tower when his arrow hit it - practically out of my hand. It went off right above my head and the smoke billowed out as I ran to a bush to hide and lmao.
Once morphed into an attack which clashed with the enemy’s weapon, after which I stabbed, he chambered, I parried and kicked him off the ledge lol I was rocking in my chair so hard
if you punch an enemy and they parry without having stamina, they will take a lot of knockback and fall. i did that to a guy and he fell into Grad's elevator and died. it was hilarious
That's the kind of adrenaline pumping action I experienced in M&B Warband and why I think its the most intense video game fighting I've ever played. This looks to pay homage to that style of combat. I am excite

When fighting 2 or 3 opponents, I always parry one attack and drag the counter-attack to an another opponent. Really good tactic, ‘cause enemies never expect that.
True af. I've actually won a lot of 1v3s picking people off one by one simply because the other guys got greedy all trying to steal the kill for themselves and didn't expect to be focused on.
@@lotismade Well that, and kill one as fast as you can. Realistically, unless you're wearing plate armor, you can't take on two guys in a duel for more than a few swings. Kill one right away, and it is just a regular duel.

my experience: i've tried everything. i wanted to use polearms as my main weapons as they're the most versatile and safe weapons to use in real life. but in this game nothing beats a goddamn rapier and shield. just get heavy armor on your head and chest (none on legs, do cover them in dark pants and some skirts so no one notices the weakness though), a rapier, a heater shield, a mallet and whatever perks you choose with the remaining points. maybe even some throwing axes if you so desire. rapier op

Just to clarify, yes, you can do most of these techniques in real life, though most of them shown here are being done more clumsily whereas in real life it's much more fast and depending on the person have better form. The Mordhau and Half-Swording grip can also be done, even with bare hands, if you grip them properly.

I know this is an old comment and video... but thank you I didn't think of turning gore off. I've hit friendly blues a handful of times in only a few hours. xD
From what ive played, different shields have different coverage (as their actual size is a hitbox for stopping ranged projectiles) and they also have advanced stats relating to how much stamina is used when blocking, the area where a melee attack can be blocked from, as well as shield raise speed. personally i prefer the heater due to its 2 cost and quick use, but you might prefer the knight, buckler or small round shield. the best i can suggest is to try em all and find which one suits you best ;3

3 tips: 1) In a big 64 players frontline game it's VERY common to have entier lines of enemies close to your allies. DO NOT swing your weapons, focus on the stabs, use a halbers or spear or something "long" and pointy and help your teammates with safe hits from a distance, EVEN IF you are not good at the game you can at least minimize your collateral damage to friends and help them push. 2) if your PC is a bit old (like mine) and is having big FPS drops REMOVE the RAGDOLL in the settings. This helped me a lot with a cople visual tweacks and now i can play fine. 3) HOLD BACK, if you are injured and you can retreat behind your allies line, do it, instead of dieing instntly and having to respawn and walk back just wait a bit
range on halberds are not that good. if you want range, get a spear. otherwise, get a rapier and shield. it does less damage than a halberd but it attacks almost twice as fast and the range isn't that much shorter considering how far you lunge when you stab.

@@yugen I can't say that I do. I wasn't ever very good at WotR technically. I found something that worked (polearm, I think it was pollaxe) and just stabbed my way to victory. If they advanced, I backed up and stabbed them and if they didn't I swung haymakers. I could hold 3 guys off with that cheese haha. Playing the objective it was good enough to consistently place in top 5 or whatever, but I kinda gave up on learning the more sophisticated stuff. I'm trying to get more into parry and riposte in Mordhau, but I dunno. I'm old and slow and lazy and will never be able to compete with the hungry young blood. We will see. It's fun anyway.
toolbox works pretty good against horses. The one way spikes really limit their routes and if they mess up it'll kill them and it helps protect your archers so they can help hold the line. I still hate dealing with horses though.
There are so many small things I didnt know, that I have found infuriating while playing (not being able to interupt someone when they riposte, not being able to morph on the same side attacks). All these small little things that have been screwing me over looking at my screen like "wtf?? why is my character not receiving my inputs and clicks??" This explains a lot.

just a few notes about shields. -if you block an attack with a shield when out of stamina, you drop your shield to the floor but can still use your weapon to parry strikes. -you can block while using a thrown weapon like a throwing axe of knife when your using a shield. preety handy when you want to use a thrown weapon like a madman in close quarters ;3
It's neither. You still need to point in the general area of the tip, but not exactly (the "not-exactness" probably depends on the weapons used). If you are attacked with a polearm or some long axe at close range, you better be turning to face that tip though.
I think they should do some daily quests - for people to earn something and to learn quicker, i mean lets say there is a daily quest: Parry attack 10times. This quest would show up on the up left corner with a hint how to do it for people who are not used to the game and maybe dont remember everything from tutorial room.I bet that would make huge help for new players...

that's how they would teach you to fight in the manuals of the actual olden days when outnumbered in a duel.

@@nah6892 The buckler is purely for parrying, you can't hold it for long in game. It's really good when paired with a quick 1 handed weapon

Do note that you cannot keep the targe or buckler up like you can with other shields.

the buckler is also faster to parry and if you get disarmed i believe you loose the shield and not the weapon
