      it's called a beta fighter/boomer. this big fighter is like super boster for the alfa fighter.

    It'd be great if they remade those toys up to the standards of some of today's REALLY impressive Transformers.

    Was this mech designed by the same guy who did Macross' Valkyrie Battroid? I hadn't realized how different it was -- I saw it in Robotech, hence assumed it was some sort of Valkyrie offshoot. And now, having seen this video, I realize I hadn't known how clumsy it was, either.

      No, the VF-1 was designed by Shoji Kawamori. IIRC, the Tread (aka Beta) was designed by Hideki Kakinuma. The Legioss (aka Alpha) was designed by Shinji Aramaki who also did the ride armors (Cyclones).

    The Beta Fighter was the best thing about the Alpha from Toynami and Aoshima. I have the Stick/Scott Alpha fighter in both Toynami and Aoshima versions and the Beta Fighter is superior to both of them. Wasn't the Aoshima suppose to be an improved on Toynami Alpha fighter? Because if it was it's a complete fail. My Aoshima never leaves the box.

    Is this from Robotech or other?

    • @ScorchedEarthToys
      @ScorchedEarthToys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both! Aoshima sold it as a Mospeada product in Japan and Toynami sold it as a Robotech product everywhere else.

    ugh. cant we just forget these were "adopted" into the robotech license?

      Robotech was good for introducing many to the worlds of Macross SDF, SD Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA. Then HG screwed nearly the entire West from getting any Macross or Macross related for decades.
      I prefer the Japanese originals better. Robotech is not the worst, but it is very far from the best.

      When it comes to Mospeada goods, Robotech is actually a good thing. No Japanese manufacturers were clamoring to make a new Legioss toy when Toynami made the MPC Alpha and we would have never gotten an MPC Beta unless Toynami had created that demand with their Alpha toys and had worked out some deals with Aoshima/Miracle House. So, while Robotech has been detrimental to Macross collecting to be sure, it's hard to argue it's hurt Mospeada any, and it's probably helped it.

    • @Echowhiskeyone
      @Echowhiskeyone 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScorchedEarthToys I agree. Some Robotech goods are more available and more varied than Japanese goods, and in some cases Japanese goods are better.
      I love MOSPEADA, but trying to find anything outside of Robotech is virtually impossible.

      My urge is to say the same thing. But Mospeada would be totally forgotten by now if it hadn't been used. The show just wasn't very good, corners were cut, they give away the whole plot and the series ending in the opening credits, and ratings were terrible. The high spot was the mecha designs and it's really good to see them remembered and celebrated no matter how it happens. Pro tip: if you make an anime, don't reveal the damn ending in the show open. Geez. Nobody's going to watch.
