The idea and solution is so simple. You should keep doing these videos to shame the other installers who claim retaining the factory AUX/USB is not possible. I can understand why however. Not many would spend so much time and effort and only charge fifty bucks!
Your timing was perfect with this one. I was struggling with how to replace the stock USB/aux jacks in my wife's Mazda 5. I had tried a couple things including an aftermarket USB cable which matched up to the mazda plug but it didn't work. I toned the wires out like you demonstrated and it works perfectly. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this! I was looking up some head units for my '09 Fusion and all roads to keeping the stock Aux and USB all pointed to Maestros... and I don't really care for keeping all of the Sync garbage. This will be so useful when I go to install.
Great Video. What radio would you recommend for a 2008 F-350 that currently has a standard AM/FM/6 CD/mp3 radio. No steering controls. I do not like/want Sync. As long as I am upgrading, it should be 'Alexa' capable. Sirius XM would be nice. Navigation would come from an iPhone or Android device. Backup camera would be nice. The larger the screen, the easier it would be for me to see.
My wife has a 2013 Ford Edge with the usb in the center console. Can you connect the aftermarket usb in the center console or do you need to find it in the dash? I can’t find anything behind the dash but I can easily get to the connector in the center console. I have the gm usb you mentioned but not sure where to connect to the aftermarket stereo.
cant we use a normal mini usb female to usb male adapter...plug it in the wire we take out from the control box and then connect it to the stereo...i have a ecosport 2016 titanium and wondering if thay would work..
I have a 2011 ford f150 sync w/ navigation... im looking for an aftermarket radio but the HVAC controls only show up on the factory nav screen... IE i have manual controls, but im looking to keep a way of SEEING what temperature and fan speed the HVAC is set to... anyone have any ideas?
What if you don't have the sync capabilities and the audio port is in the bottom of the integrated dash stereo above the storage cubby? 2012 f-150 xlt 4x4 5.0 integrated stereo no sync
In the 2011-2014 Superduty trucks that have factory Sirius and Sync without navigation, is there a solution other than the OEM ford Splitter harness that splits the factory Sirius Fakra Antenna connector into Sirius Fakra and GPS fakra connections? I'm trying to add a DMX7704s to my truck, and want to use the factory GPS/Sirius antenna in the truck.
In the 2011-2012 Superduty is there any benefit to using the idatalink RR to get the steering wheel controls, or should you use a less expensive steering wheel control adapter if you have no intention of using the sync or HVAC controls?
if I understand it correctly, if all you want are the steering controls and you don't care about the stock satellite radio, gps antenna, microphone, tire pressure sensors, etc, that all came pre-installed on the car, as well as interfacing with misc obd2 data, then no; there is no benefit
I have a 2012 SuperDuty, found it in the glove box BUT.. how the heck do you remove it, I don’t see or feel a clip. Busted a small part of plastic off trying to remove it Picture?
I did, it was a pain in the but, I just keep at it and eventually got it to unclip. But to be honest it was a waste of time because I don’t even care about my Sync. I mainly use my Bluetooth. And also my new stereo has it’s on USB, I just ran that though my glove compartment. But I don’t even use that either. I wouldn’t worry about it personally- Go Bluetooth
@@Beckfrombama Apple Carplay doesn't work with Bluetooth. What type of clip is it? I just ordered a USB plug to replace one of the cigarette lighter plugs. lol Thanks for the reply.
Sherman Berkeley yes that video is what we call our last resort install. Some cars we get lucky and can do this. Hyundai , Honda, and Kia is a last resort car. The reason is the USB and Aux are part of a hub or there is no adapter.
Can anyone shed some light on a issue with 2013 f150 with sync had the truck for 3 days got my phone to sync then 5 minutes after the radio quit unhooked battery didn't work all fuses were good still nothing on the display but flashing clock and what the temperature.
Hey dean and friends i just recently purchased a pioneer avh-4700bs my problem is that it works great but now and then keeps rebooting on it own then plays like normal anynway to fix that or advice to troubleshoot problem ....?
Five Star Car Stereo powers down and back on is what i mean as i drive under 25mph powers down and back on again . not setting are changed just turns off
Ghost Face check the red wire that is what would control that. Maybe connect a meter to the connection and take it for a drive to see what the voltage looks like. If it is a ford make sure your seat belt is on
I did this when adding a new head unit in my truck and it allowed my phone to charge, but didnt allow communication with android auto. I had to jam the usb wire from the head unit into the factory hole and electrical tape it there so i can still remove it later.
Great info. I did something like this on my chevy and converted the factory USB to the radio (which I used for the iPad install) and converted the factory USB in the dash so it would just charge my phone. if I need to.
Five Star Car Stereo I just had and aftermarket kenwood radio installed in my GMC Sierra will these products also work on my truck application. Also thank you for the video you guys are amazing I watch your stuff all the time.

nchia right, we do hear it a lot that it can't be done. For $50 your on your own.
Five Star Car Stereo are you guys MECP certified?
Exactly what I needed, didn’t know it was gonna be that simple.

Do you have any idea why the AUX/USB wouldn't be working? We have a 2015 F250 with them, and neither work. There are no AUX/USB/In-Line etc. inputs.
How do u retain the factory camera ? Any particular harness

Did you ever figure this out? I have a 2013 Super Duty and I bet I broke the same piece you did. lol
I did, it was a pain in the but, I just keep at it and eventually got it to unclip. But to be honest it was a waste of time because I don’t even care about my Sync. I mainly use my Bluetooth. Are you able to do this on a 17 civic
Do they not have an adapter for the aux yet?
I want to know the procedure for a 2015 gmc acadia
Dean does the original video you did with the Hyundai/Kia usb/aux still stand or can this be done instead
Sherman Berkeley yes that video is what we call our last resort install. Some cars we get lucky and can do this. Hyundai , Honda, and Kia is a last resort car. The reason is the USB and Aux are part of a hub or there is no adapter.
Would this work on a Scion Tc 2006 ?? It has aux built to it
EdwinArtwork yes the Toyota Aux work the same way. We are going to do a Toyota the next time we get one in.
How can i retain the aúx in a Silverado 2016 wt???
Can anyone shed some light on a issue with 2013 f150 with sync had the truck for 3 days got my phone to sync then 5 minutes after the radio quit unhooked battery didn't work all fuses were good still nothing on the display but flashing clock and what the temperature.
Will this work for my 2016 Ford F-250? Also, do you still use the brains
does it work the Same with a 2011 Chrysler 200
Charles Watts if it has an outboard USB, yes. You need the USB-gm1
Hey dean and friends i just recently purchased a pioneer avh-4700bs my problem is that it works great but now and then keeps rebooting on it own then plays like normal anynway to fix that or advice to troubleshoot problem ....?
Ghost Face when you say reboot does it go back to the ask a language page or just power down and turn back on?

I’m having problems with my charger connecter
I want to retain my standard HDMI, usb & lane assist camera in my 2016 Honda vezel hybrid. Anyone have ah idea on how to do that?
For Honda civic 2017?
Great video!
Sabir Baksh thank you
great video, but it's not a USB Micro, it's the previous Gen of USB Mini
Great info. I did something like this on my chevy and converted the factory USB to the radio (which I used for the iPad install) and converted the factory USB in the dash so it would just charge my phone. if I need to.
Tim datoolman the simple things that make life better.😀
Five Star Car Stereo
I just had and aftermarket kenwood radio installed in my GMC Sierra will these products also work on my truck application. Also thank you for the video you guys are amazing I watch your stuff all the time.
Tony Jackson yes if you have that cigarette lighter looking USB on your dash or in the armrest. It is a USB-GM1
Are you bypassing the brain and going right to the headunit or is this method to feed into that controller?
its bypassing it. as you saw they took wires straight into the radio and never went back to the factory harness or the sync box
good to know since I have a F250 lol, thanks guys
jmaslin you bet
Yes it is awesome for us. Thanks guys!
Brian Miles cool, enjoy
