That's how songs used to be, 3-4 verses with hooks between. Because they were in a studio with actual producers and engineers making SONGS. Today anybody can whip up a beat and record whatever and put it on TH-cam by themselves. I'm not hating, music is supposed to evolve or whatever but it's definitely weird to me hearing songs that don't follow a normal kinda format.... and 3 minutes is long now, I hate these little 2 minute songs. He's OG GODFATHER.
I forgot how cool scratching was! 😅 I was a teen when this came out! It was great work out music. It's good to see LL Cool J STILL doing well after all the years! Respect!🙂
Well , when U truly have talent it's no surprise . Unlike the trash they call Hip Hop in today's world .
The real G.O.A.T. of hip hop a.k.a rap
This throws new rap out of orbit
@LikeNobodii a single bar in this song is better than any whole mumble rap song, but quote a better mumble rap bar and prove me wrong.
@LikeNobodii yes it does...
@@hule1186 Nope.

Some real deal battle rhymes
One of the most fire verses of all time..
"I'm the baddest taking out all rookies so forget oreos eat cool j cookies...im baddd"
ll cool j I'm bad
I remember being 9 yrs old and having recorded this with my tape play and writing out all the lyrics and memorizing this. It's still in my memory.
Man I did the same thing😂😂😂😂😂

This song was the beginning of my love with old school Rap back in 1987.
Beats all the modern shit by far!

Goat!
FACTS, This when Stories were told and thought was put into the song. LL always gave us good music and lyrics and DOPE ASS BEATS!!1
Put these lyrics up against any battle rapper and it will always Reign Supreme! 2023 and I'm still in awe of the lyrical content displayed in this hit. Genius!
Scratchin in hip hop today is a lost art...shame.I always loved the scratching on this song ...
There is a lot of lost arts in hip hop today
The scratching on this song is all done by DJ Bobcat from the L.A. Posse. Russell Simmons brought them from L.A. to work with LL and the rest is history.
jmkingg1 I told my mother the same thing about a commercial of two electronical DJ's before i left to work. Theres no scratching its mp3 dubstep ( her reaction) yea aint no more DJ's. True shit 5/4/15
LL Cool J was way ahead of the bucket hat game

That is fire

these old school lines can still slay rappers today. The boy is bad.
One of the greatest albums and ever...Bigger and Deffer (B.A.D)
shhhhh they don't know
+DJ Rod B if they don't, they don't need to
Steve Gilbert if music going to get better then they need too, other wise carry on with the BS!
What I mean, is we had the best music ever and we don't want it spoiled by wannabes
Steve Gilbert man! you couldn't say that any better! sheesh!! todays wannabes don't have one single clue, but they think they do.
He was a beast....
LL is probably the most underrated rapper. His catalogue and longevity is insane.
th-cam.com/video/jzrEKgQEqlA/w-d-xo.html
You can’t be serious he’s the blueprint for every rapper that came after him
Eminwho?
I wonder what he thought of n.w.a at the time?🤔
If LL is underrated Kool Moe Dee is more underrated
This man hit 4 verses on one song 😳 you will be luck to get two full verses these days!
This the comment I was looking for....
Like King Von's "Wayne's Story"..... the song is dope, but right when it's getting good it's over. Like that shit should've been twice as long. I miss full length songs.
I'm 14 and my dad would always play late 80s and 90s hip-hop honestly I love it so much I'm not hating on new stuff but I love this because I can hear the words and it's not all about drugs
❤️
Classically phenomenal ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 LL crush you like a jelly bean 😂 split a pea from a pod 😂
When I retire, I ll get worshipped like an old battleship. I got a gold name plate that say I wish you would. Some of the best song lyrics of all time!
I'm 43, remember us recording this on a tape from the radio and my crew rewinding this 85 times on my moms boom box to remember the words and making a dance to it in the 80's.....what a time to be alive

This one of my favorite rap videos of all time and the s1ws make that much better 💯 my era real hip hop and it had a message without all the bs
hip hop rap then and now are totally different we really had fun and received the positive images in the videos and music. These days its about calling women bitches and portraying a thuggish demeaning image but nothing will take away from rap back then period that is why we still bump it today.
Woow
Real talk
There are so many kinds of rap at this now, if you think rap is based solely around demeaning thuggish individuals who call women bitches,
you don't know rap.
Juan lak I have been listening to hip hop far before you and like I said that is what rap songs today are based around. Only a small few can deliver a positive message now step back before I break out the cardboard and send you home
I guess you're right, only a few can deliver a positive message. And you're not one of them
"When I retire I'll be worshipped (war ship) like a old battleship" - LL Cool J's wordplay is insane 🔥🔥🔥

Because he probably doesn't want to pay the tens of thousands it costs to be inducted into a fake museum. 😂

If he is talking about this version of the song he is right because you don't hear L say bad MF the tires is what you hear
We don't appreciate how fortunate we were to experience REAL MC'S, REAL TALENT, REAL MUSICIANSHIP-ON THE REGULAR, TOO! These dime a dozen ass songs today are SO WEAK it's shameful.
