      Ran into this today. installed a Mitsubishi minisplit 10 months ago and the head units coil blew out. the damn manufacturer wants to send me a coil.. ridiculous! repairs on these things are a nightmare. I don't understand why they can't just warranty the unit but unfortunately that's all they would do.. I dread this repair

      Yes I rather replace the head because of broken plastic and dirty fan blade.

    I did my first 5 head Fujitsu with rectorseal Pro-Fit pushin couplings on our home. So far 2 years later, no leaks. Not sure I'd trust those couplings/adapters on a clients home. It sure makes tying in the head units to the linesets. I still haven't tried to sell minisplits in place of "old-school" systems Maybe another year or two before I really trust the manufacturing/lifespan. But, I really think those Mitsubishi 1 way ceiling cassettes are a desirable product. Same goes for the push-in couplings. Hard to teach this 60 yr old dog new tricks. Thanks for you videos.

    I have an Electrolux Mini Split system, four units run off one compressor. One of the wall mount units has gone through three fan bearings and now the shaft has come out of the end of the fan. Sooner than spending more time and money to repair this unit, can I replace it with a different make? Can I disconnect it without loosing all the coolant in the lines for the other units that work well? Great video like your smart ass attitude

    Cool flaring method with the drill but doesn’t debris gets into the lines that can cause restriction later on but I guess pulling a good vacuum should clean those right ?

    Learning that charging by weight is not so difficult at all. Lastly, learning how these types of systems are maintained/repaired is also crucial as a DIY with skill.

    Changed more than I’d like to admit . Unfortunately all were Fujitsu , but I think Manufacturer name doesn’t matter , weak copper is weak copper it doesn’t matter whose name is on the box . Let me know if others feel the same .

    Hi, what are the symptoms of a leaking coil ? Just had mine cleaned after a small fire, now it's freezing up inside the unit if I lower it to 21c. Mine is about 15 years old, is it better to replace the whole system you think ? Thanks so much

    • @TaddyDigest

      @@TaddyDigest thanks for the reply. I just had it professionally cleaned by a company that puts the bag underneath and cleans it. I don't know if it's a coincidence but it's been frosting up on the coil since then. I wonder if something was damaged by removing the cover. I might have to have it checked by an AC specialist I guess. Thanks so much for your help

    I replaced just the motor on a Daikin inside unit because of the noise and vibration it was making. Luckily you can do that without evacuating refrigerant on these units. My first job ever I guess lol.

    Question. My 18 K BTU mini split unit is in the garage. A tech found the indoor coil leaking. He recommends replacing the entire system. The current one is about 4 to 5 years old and I’ve changed the main control board 2 years ago. I’m not in a financial position to buy a new mini split. Please give me your opinion, is changing the indoor unit is a sound decision?

    Only requires working pressure for the test

  • @ducharmehvactraining925
    @ducharmehvactraining925 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    use a torque wrench and too high on the nitro test pressure IMO. that low side test pressure is marked on the outdoor unit. I don't go over 350psig nitro. could cause a coil leak.

      A new air handler installed from our company would be $1500

  • @jerrylockhart3069
    @jerrylockhart3069 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First thing you should’ve did was pull the cover and then the drain pan and the motor And wheel. The coil would’ve been super easy to take out and then put it back in the same exact way. I’ve got to do one tomorrow and it’s going to suck because the copper is in the wall. Idiot builders.😮❤😅😢😱🥵
