Having grown up around British sports cars, Faruk you did an amazing job on this lightweight E. I'm actually surprised that you Larry were able to pick up on the fact that this is a 2+2. As Faruk mentioned, the proportions of the wilder body really help to hide the bulberous butt on the original car vs the very pretty design of the coupe's. It's gorgeous.
O.M.G. -- The GREATEST, COOLest, (and WiDEST, Lol ) Jaguar E-Type / XKE -- E.V.E.R. -- THANK YOU SOO MUCH -- YOU MADE MY DAY !! AND: a Little More Detail - the 2+2 FiXES the Proportions Problem of stock E-Types, with Cartoony Short Door-Glass Windows and their SuperLONG Nose, Going On Til the Base of the A-Pillars !!
Tastefully done, looks great. If I see anyone hate on this for being "disrespectful to the car", please stop acting like a morron and watch the video. The work quality alone and attention to detail does justice to everything early Jaguars stood for. Marvelous work.
@@josephhertzberg2734 I believe it! Jaguars have always been notoriously unreliable! Especially their electronics. British Car Guys don’t call Lucas Industries The Prince of Darkness for nothing! Haha
I like most of this build, in fact most of it apart from the instrumentation. Would have been nice to run a digital stepper tach and speedometer off the can-bus, 100mm clocks with physical needles, fully programmable. It would have been a really nice touch to have analogue physical dimmers by incorporating variable ND filters. Digidash is just lazy imo and looks out of place.
I had to turn the sound off when the interviewer said AAHhhhhh for the 20th time, that was like 3 minutes into the video, would be a good idea to have the builder describing his work without any other person speaking,
Pick'n'pull has 1/2 off days for motors, he should had pulled one from a lexus sc300/gs300 and should have built it that way. Either way he did a good basic jz build with a nice jag body😎😉
Larry, you know my restomod Z, still needs a peeper sticker... Now it's 2024.... Larry always brings the Cars, Car Guys, want to see, he NEVER ,misses! Still need a video of Orange Bang, FuguZ, Doc...in the canyons
You really have to know your onions if you want to modify the Etype. It was so advanced at the time. They were years ahead of everyone else. Main reason that Jaguar snapped up all the best engineers after the war from the aerospace industry who used there knowledge to develop there cars. It was engineered in such a way that every panel of the car was essential, to come together making the car unbelievably rigid using such lightweight materials. Genius design for its day with disc brakes all round. Still a safe car today with the modern crash structure, which was by design, that was no accident. The straight six engine was a masterpiece, which jaguar used right upto the 90’s.
tesla style dash i think is good for restomod if the original dash is really bad....tesla dash look easy to make.....and because they are very simple, i think they are very relaxing to look at
The 2+2 was already awkward looking but this demonstrates that it had not yet achieved peak awkward. Neat craftsmanship but a really goofy looking base platform.
Nice innovate job: however the Jag was plain astonishing when it came out in the early 60s and the engine straight six is something even the Italian engine makers should bow down to-- even now. Again, nice try.
I love E-types and 2JZ (had a Supra in the 90s, and sold it to buy an Eagle E-Type). This combination is the worst-looking piece of crap I've ever seen though. The dechromed look works on some cars (my E39M5 for instance) but not this. Nor do the fender flares. Seriously, if anyone were ever jailed for a crime against a classic car I'd vote it be this guy.
Not a purist, just got to know what you’re doing with this special car and he’s made it a death trap. Looks like a half arsed rush job sorry. Not thought it through. Compared to Retropower’s build, They’ve done a thorough masterpiece of an etype restomod. Check it out then you’ll understand the difference
It may be a little rushed but he also stated that he plans to button some things up. Better it be used this way then sitting in a garage in Florida completely disassembled

Man,that car is such a stunner, would never have looked at one twice, but wow.
Great use of a 2+2, they cost double to restore and are worth less than half as much. Thanks for sharing.
that car is so cool... a great engine with one of the coolest bodys
Jaguar should reproduce it with all the modern specs. ❤
Faruk is a really cool guy. Have met him a few times around Sonoma Raceway... humble and friendly.
Fantastic build! Definitely want to see more
Hey, why not a Ferguson tractor motor? Or a Ford 300ci Six? Or a late-model Miata motor?
It's the best 2+2 E-type I've ever seen! Really, really nice.
no such thing as a good 2+2 E-type, they're all absolute crap
This car is answer to a problem nobody asked. Looks like a tic-tac with balls on the ends
Ballsy tic-tac is a solid name
Clean yet powerful. You gotta drive this
This doesn't scream "widebody" - it just looks right. To pull this off on such an iconic classic car is not easy... 😎🤟
That’s wheelbase.. 😮💨

thats the way to go.....why stick with the super expensive original engines if there are cheaper ones that are reliable
Yeah a 2J is cheap 😂 sure bud
@@aftrnoon_ac at about £12k - £14k for a 2JZ, it'd be half the price of a replacement period in-line 6 in good condition.
not really cheap, but cheaper than an original jag engine.....and there are other ones that are not hyped@@aftrnoon_ac
i think a NA BMW inline 6 with ITB's would have been a better fit in a E-type..
@@insector2093well the Toyota 2000GT was heavily influenced by the Jag. ITBs would be sick. 🫱🏾🫲🏽
I would love to see Factory 5 do an E type body
Agreed.
Although I also wouldn't mind seeing them do a bespoke body inspired by stuff like the 240Z, XKE, 250 GTO, Daytona coupe, etc.
JLR will take them to the cleaners.
@@76-UVB would they...
I don't see why
@@josephhertzberg2734 JLR has pursued and put out of business several companies who made replica Jaguars.
I wonder if a Viper hood mechanism would allow the Jag bonnet to move up and out in a similar fashion? 🤔
Dude, I need to look into that!! Thank you for the tip
Amazing car. And what a great interview. Larry, you are so good at what you do.
Awesome car, I love these anti-purity builds
I want to see a etype wrapped over a ftype.. even if it’s blown out and 3D printed.. can it be done and would it work
My preference would be Aston DB4 over a later Aston with Alm the modern specs. So it looks original but drives like a new car. ❤
The purists will absolutely love it... 😏
The car combines Jags and Supras, I love both.
Love the wheels!

2JZ swap everythings🔥
That thumbnail😅. Immediately thought of Jessie
Now this is what I talking about 🎉
Take a page from Victory by Design and put the talking heads behind the car. It’s about the car!
Toyota still makes the 2jz long blocks. I'm just not going to tell you how to get one though 😂
