This is by far the best study tips video I’ve watched. I got the spaced repetition idea from Ali Abdaal too, as I used Google sheets to colour code and track dates. But I never invested enough time in the understanding stage (I’d dive straight into answering questions). I also like your points on tying material from papers, textbooks and notes. Thank you Shiv and best of luck with your studies ;)
Ahhh im so glad that you found it useful! Ive been meaning to make it for so long! I know what you mean because questions just seem easier but personally i feel like the questions and active recall sticks alot easier and the whole studying process is faster if i also focus on understanding hahah! Thank you Yinka! I hope your studies are going well too :)
There are soo many vids out there on how to study but this is by far the best I've come across, you touch on everything, from the approach and resources to diet and well-being. Jolly good vibe to it. Keep at it. Looking forward to the other vids! Good luck with exams, patients and also everything outside dentistry. God bless. Btw I'm a first yr dent student at Mcr so will be using the stuff you've mentioned to get through the course.
ahh omg that has literally made me so happy! thank you so so much for the support! im so glad that you liked the video honestly!! Yess loads of videos coming soon, im just finishing up exams and ill be back on posting! Ofcourse! just message me on instagram and i can send it there!! i wish you the best with your exams and revision and uni!! How are you finding dentistry so far? :)
Goal Know everything inside out, know by logic not memorisation Understand content first to see how everything links and then organise note taking Get revision book and use it’s headings to form tree of knowledge (e.g. Oxford clinical handbook) then as you go along and build knowledge further categorise Find high yield info Past papers, see what reoccurs, or ask past students Prioritise high yield info Gather useful resource: lectures, youtube vids, however much you need until you understand it. Thank you for making this content. Its soo helpful and honestly invaluable to someone like me who is just starting dental school. You are awesome! 🎉❤️👌
Can you make a video on what textbooks or resources you use for each subjects in dental school? Btw thank you for sharing on how you study in dental school which i find very useful and i think i'm going to try similar way like yours into my study routine. Best of luck in your dental school journey and i believe you gonna be a great dentist in the future.
Ahhh im honestly so so glad that this has been helpful for you! It literally makes everything worth it! let me know how this system works for you! it takes a while to get used to but when youve finished studying and you still have so much spare time youll absolutely love it! And yes for sure ill do a resources video real soon! its added to the list :)
Thank you! This makes me literally so happy, thank you for your support! For first year id really recommend on just trying to stay ontop of everthing because youll have so many new things thrown at you, try to also have fun and make loads of friends along the way 🫶🏽💕 Wishing you all the best :)
Not exactly - i tried to make the anki decks more native to the platform so i can utilise the different features and diagrams etc since i used my anki decks alot more!
Its going to be different for everybody but i was always good at studying and when i did work experience, i could see myself doing this. Maybe try creating a pros and cons list 🫶🏽💕
The BNF and SDCEP PDF will probably have everything that you need to know - it just depends on if youre looking more for mechanism or indications/dose etc 🫶🏽💕
