I'm not sure I totally understand the question. Have you already used up all your Post 9/11 benefits? You just want to join the guard now to get montgomery to go back to school?
My bad! I am currently serving in the active navy. My contract will be up in 2 years. I want to go back to school for engineering and I have a family. For that reason, I am thinking about joining the national guard for the tuition and use the montgomery GI bill money to pay the bill. Is that the feasible idea? Thank you for replying!!
@@kyawphyu3519 Gotcha! I don't think so... However, there are states that have 'tuition waiver' which allows you to attend state schools for free. So it may be worth shopping around for the best state benefits/school choice. From what I understand, the GI Bill is either Montgomery OR Post 9/11. I do not believe there is any way to stack them. But I could be wrong.
Do you think that that the GI Bill Selected Reserve can pay for Skydiving school? Idk, I'm curious, but my Main goal is obtain my Pilot Private License, unfortunately my recruiter got me messed up into the reserves, and should I change to Post 9/11 Gi Bill for pilot school?
The reserve gi bill doesn't cover much and even what it does "cover" it doesn't actually pay for the program, just gives you a monthly stipend.
Not sure how you ended up in reserves on accident...
Could I use it for a shorter trade school and university?
Of course. It doesn't have to be used for a 4 year program. You could do a three month cert if you wanted.
can you get your monthly stipend from gi bill while on navy reserve after being on active duty for 5 years ?
By reserves do you mean IRR? As long as you're not on active orders while in the reserves you will get your BAH
Are there any schools where i can learn a language from home while i work and while using the gi bill?
Most schools these days offer online language courses. I'd check community colleges first.
@@jasonburds thank you!
I currently have a 70% rating but only eligible for 50% of the GI bill. Anyway for me to get the 50% upgraded to 100%? I’m about to start my lineman apprenticeship with the IBEW. Anything helps.
Help me understand, you have a 70% VA disability rating and only rate 50% of your GI Bill and you're trying to get the 50% GI Bill to 100%?
More than likely they took a voluntary separation so that’s why they only got 50% GI bill. If it was a med sep they would get 100% GI. There’s no way to
Ingrese your VA eligibility post service unless they went back reserve/ guard to
Accumulate active duty time
Do you still get the housing allowance if you do a trade? I'm 41 and don't want to go into a classroom. However, I want to get the allowance. My GI Bill expires in 2025
Of course. It's based on the same requirements as "traditional" college. Full time student gets full bah. Anything under is prorated.
@@jasonburds you're the best. Thank you
@@Outdoorpizzaoven happy to help!
Can you still get the bah or stipends
Yes! Flat rate for aboard study is around $1800/mo
I would like to use my gi bill to play golf.
I'm sure if you do some digging, you can find an opportunity for that. Check out my video on the GI Bill comparison tool.
Golf academy of America has an associates program that accepts the GI Bill, there is one in Temecula, CA and one in South Carolina. It teaches you how to manage a golf course, including being a golf pro. I have been eyeing it for years but I can't move my family to go to the course.
🔥
Thank you!
CAN I WORK AT A JOB AND STILL GET FULL GI BILL BENEFITS?
Yes you can! As long as it's not active duty.
@@jasonburds thank you. I am currently active duty still but getting out in under a year. I used my post 9/11 gi bill for a couple classes. did I make a mistake?
@@stickznbrickz nothing you can't come back from. Did you not know about TA? Do you have a degree/career plan picked out?
It might be a decent idea to consider holding off using your GI Bill for your first year or so to catch up from the GI bill you already used. That's if you think you might be short at least.
@@jasonburds I am very sorry I confused the TA with the GI bill... thank you for the information and the great content... I'm subscribed!
@@stickznbrickz no worries man! So glad I can help in any way! Thanks for the support!
Don’t the stars have to be aligned outta respect 😮
Stars aligned for what?
Hey brother just got out the military this past December. So can use my GI Bill for multiple things
For example:
2 year course of culinary arts
And still do NOHLs or get scuba certified ?
Congrats dude! 100% you can! Just make sure you're budgeting it all out before you start to make sure you won't run out and make sure you can use the education to get a job after also. Lol
Who is the one guy disliking this? like, what? You're against vets going to school? why look it up then.
Hahaha! There's always one guy that is miserable and wants others to be too.
Can you go to a trade school or some sort of schooling that is let's say 7 month would you be able to use the the remaining amount for something else later in life ????
Absolutely. You do not need to use your benefits at one school. You can jump around all you want. I would recommend finishing each program then moving on. If you move on before finishing a program you will likely run out of benefits before you've completed anything that will get you a good job.
@@jasonburds thanks for the input keep up the good work
