A jet sweep is when a receiver in motion gets a hand off. It' s a quick pop. Generally not led by pulling linemen. Old power sweep is a hand off or toss to a back following pulling guards.
The Pakcers power sweep is one of the most legandary plays in football history. if you asked me to nuse one play for an embasitorial role to potential fans would be the play i'd choose. Their is so much history around the play, and while it is called the power sweep and displays this at its core, the finnese that often comes from the play if it begins to buckle from defensive penitration or a loose runner close to breaking into the open field; it shows several aspects of football very well. For so long it has been considered as an obsolete play because of change of tactics to counter it and the advancments of science and the human body that make outside running less productive; if productive at all. So if you were to call The Packers Sweep family tree extinct i wouldn't have disagreed with you a year or so ago, but there are many aspects of the Patriots crack toss that are very simular with the Packers Sweep; so much so that i would say the Patriots Crack Toss is within the same family tree as the Packers Sweep. So if the play did ever go exticnct i wouuld say it has been brought back. So much has changed but the toss if not on the same line of the tree it is on a parrellel branch!!! It is a beautiful play to watch from every angle; just as pleasing to the eye as the Packers sweep to watch the runner behind his blockers and i can guarrantee there are some old heads who are reminded of the old Packers Power sweep everytime they watch the Patriots Crack Toss!! I would love for an in depth show to talk about the family tree of the play if proffesional historians belive it is from the same family tree. 2 Watch a show on how it evolved to stay alive in the ever changing envirnment of football.
A lot of nobody commentators would call that the Jet Sweep. It's the PACKER SWEEP !
