That is a wood rasp. You can find those at most hardware stores. Great for resin and plaster cleanup.

I am an artist, love to sculpture. I have been looking for materials to start taking molds and casting my sculptures. Can you help or guide me on the materials to use?

We have some great how-to videos and articles in the "Resources" section of our website. That's a great place to study up on the process and then you can call and we can help you order.

i have an idea of using epoxy resin mixed with regular packing foam broken down into small bb size pieces... kinda like rice crispy treats thinking it will be lite weight and very strong..i want to use it as a fill... thinking maybe 1 part resin to 4 parts foam will keep weight low and be strong

I never tried what you suggest, but I think you will have problems with the low density polystyrene balls floating over the resin. it will be very difficult to get the balls down at the bottom of the mold.
The usual solution that is used in your case is micro-balloons powder. It is regularly used on boats and surfboard, so can be found at a shipchandler (or amazon...). I tried to find some figures for density and resistance, but my sources are quite unclear. From my experience, I would say you can easily reach a 0.25 density with a very strong result. And maybe a 0.1 density according to the documents.... OK it will be much stronger than foam, but at a cost...

If you mix polystyrene with resin it will only melt and turn into a porable material as it will still go hard. But it will not be lightweight

Fill it with water and measure the amount for volume.
