Rotocasting duoMatrix - How to Make a Hollow Impact Resistant Casting

- Milo demonstrates how you can use the duoMatrix NEO polymer-modified gypsum system and chopped fiber to create a durable, lightweight, hollow casting.
Matrix Accelerator is used so that a hand rotation can be done on the mold. The addition of chopped fibers strengthens the cured duoMatrix NEO significantly, so that it doesn't crack on impact despite being just 3/8" thick. In addition to creating lightweight castings, rotational casting is a great way to reduce material cost over pouring a solid piece.

Check out how strong a rotocast NEO piece is when you integrate glass fibers!

Hi Milo. What would be the advantage or difference between this product and the 65D resin in a rotocaster for a 14-inch figurine that would not stand any stress on a shelf? (No hammering on it....ha ha ha )

How easy is a duoMatrix casting to sand, by hand with ordinary sandpaper, compared to pottery plaster or compared to Feather Lite? Thanks for this video.
Baruch, this material can be sanded by hand easily, similar to a resin material

You should wait about 30-40 minutes, until the material is no longer flowing.
What did you use to seal it for out door use?
NEO castings must be sealed with a suitable siloxane sealer or concrete / masonry sealer such as Euclid Chemical Baracade Silane 40 WB or Baracade Silane 100 C.
Can I paint a casting with rabbit skin glue gesso?
You would have to test that on this type of surface.

duoMatrix materials bond to themselves very well, so more duoMatrix can be used to repair areas.
