    Ok let me start by saying DANKE!!! I made this last night for my family and it was amazing! You weren’t joking about the importance of searing the meat first. My Oma and Mutter would be proud. I miss them so much and this reminded me of them. ❤️

    I never thought about making a slurry with creme fraiche. Thats brilliant for a few reasons. Im rarely ever shocked by people cooking procedures or application.
    The way you are breaking this down is really educational. And as a former professional chef. Im learning some excellent technique. And your communication is excellent

    Cooked this today. WOW it was so GOOD. Didn't have sweet paprika so used regular and less than you called for it. Next time I'll look for the sweet one. My father was born in Bavaria and I'm always looking for southern German recipes.

    When I was a kid my family used to stop at truck stops on the autobahn and get a big bowl of "hungarian" goulash. But none of the recipies I could find for that were what I was looking for. I think I finally found the soup ive been trying to recreate for 20+ years. I cant find it in america anywhere.

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  ปีที่แล้ว

      yay!! No, the American goulash is completely different and the "real hungarian" goulash is also a little different. It's fascinating how wars and movement of people and cultures have influenced cuisine, eh?

    That looks amazing. I’m used to American goulash. Which seems like a completely different dish, entirely. Your recipe certainly has ours beat. Bravo!

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the American Goulash has macaroni in it I believe. I'm sure that one is delicious, too but definitely different.

    • @Chris.3791

      @@Greenhealthycooking your goulash looks more like a kind of beef stew. It’s funny, because Hungarian Goulash is completely different depending on where you come from. I’ve always thought there wasn’t much Hungarian about American style Hungarian goulash, it seemed more Italian inspired because of the macaroni and Seasoning profile. But that’s what makes eating around the world so great!
      I appreciate you.

    What kind of small red pepper was that you used? Is it a jalapeno? Looks great. It was one of my favorite meals in German when I was there in the Army many years ago.

    Cutting meat into small cubes its against principals of good cooking. ALWAYS cut into big chunks - you will keep juices and and its easier to get caramelization.

      Every goulash recipie I've found says to cut the meat and the veggies into 1 inch cubes. I think it's part of the texture of the dish specifically to do it this way for goulash.

    Please don’t use the word slurry in relation to food, slurry is liquid cow poo in the U.K. so isn’t good within a cooking video! Loving your recipes!

    • @MangoPie077
      @MangoPie077 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Um the word slurry means a mixture of solid and liquid. So anything that's semi-fluid can be considered as slurry.
