This week, I get to enjoy the Boombox Classic. Hurray! I looked at the schedules a while ago but didn't remember that this contest would take place so early. I've got positive and constructive thoughts all around. ⭐ First place goes to everyone. You all motivate me so much! The drive both ensembles brought to the stands will fuel me with some kind of crazy force of nature throughout the rest of this week. 🎉 Party with Southern Folks had funnnn! I could feel it when I found myself dancing in the kitchen. Yes, I went from standing in the kitchen to dancing. There are plenty of strengths. Whatever was played from 4:04 until 7:18 displayed indomitability all of the right ways -- Plus, the arrangement was quite captivating! Some other things stand out. For example, euphonium and souzas can easily smash at what feels like a majority of the band's total pressure. On a relative and likely absolute basis, Horns provide a consistently stronger voice than from the other side of the field. 🌊 Ride the JSU Wave Well, it looks like Dragonite just chilled in the hyperbolic time chamber. Just for a wee bit of time. JSU's overall balance and full body of sound continue to develop. At one point, the power produced by this ensemble challenged the physical limits of Marchinsport's audio recording equipment. I notice brightness developing in the upper registers which extends the body of sound's overall impact. This brightness balances the traditional deep anchor created by the souzas. Overall, good selection of tunes. 😁 Great effort to everyone. Looking forward to the 5th!
SU opened that match up quite definitively, protesting their clear disdain... It gave, if they had some unfinished business, or reconciling a past debt... SU took over in a form of assassins creed vengeance... SU with the win for me, Zero Quarter🔥👍

Southern has the better overall sound as well as better arrangements. Dynamic contrast is such an improvement from years... not to mention those sousaphones....
On this Jackson state band won this one. And two when you have bands from two states that just have music running up and down the street and instate in both states that’s what u get.

Todd arrangements be way too long man. Play something short and sweet, get your point across. Sometimes they don’t even be good enough to drag as long either. And why is Mr. Taylor always sitting on his ass??
Jackson didn't direct much when he was over SU (Haymer and Knighten did), Haymer didn't direct much when he was over SU (Simmons and Taylor did). It's the Southern way.

Su louder but they sound out of balance. No dynamics but the definitely got back to their su sound They was sick and tired of being under jsu. Def reminded niggas who they are 🤣🤣🤣 They(su) remind me of noasb The more they battled they got tired and sloppy on both ends. At one point it felt like jsu’s pa was trying to weaken su sound with that pa On. That one time they didn’t play when jsu played but most definitely when su was m felt like anothwr su va pa momen. Trynna give jsu the upper hand. Yet su kept getting louderz Jsu was def sloppy some songs but definitely got mad potential once they get stronger
Really both bands were aggressive and angry.... An array of old wounds, not yet healed... Way too intense passion pushing through both band's instruments ... Them young folks are hungry...This particular annual match up is forged in decades of bitterness, as to hearken back to when the band director's of both schools were bands men, proper, in the same venue 😤🤍💙🤍❤️-💙💛💙💛😤

Loud isn’t always better!! Many of you are saying Southern because they’re loud however, they were very pitchy and off tune!! JSU won based on sound quality!! One band, one sound!!
The only thing I have to say about SU is that they’re playing outside of themselves a bit by trying to play the ‘Who’s Louder’ game. If they stay within themselves, it won’t sound so rough. Cuz that Lauryn Hill felt out of context a bit. I get what he did arranging it and I don’t find it easy to top that but 2016 SU would’ve had a bit more finesse with the volume. This band kinda just blows hard without the tone.

A lot of southern’s songs are too long they have parts that repeat way too many times, the players either get lost in the music or get tired mid song.
