    This is truly inspirational. I have subscribed. I have been really struggling to take my watercolour to the next level i.e. beyond "good beginner". The long form videos you have on your channel are gold dust to help really understand your thinking, process and technique. Your approach is certainly among the best I have seen (and I have seen a lot). Too many other people have videos at double speed which creates an unnecessary and unhelpful desire in the viewer to rush and too many have no commentary, but only music, which turns the tutorial into nothing more than a "look at me" show. You really take the time to slow the viewer down, explain your thinking and approach and it is therefore like being in a room with a master teacher. Thank you thank you thank you.

      Thank you very much - Painting alone, I go a bit faster. But I think if I'm sincere about teaching anything, I want to try to explain what I'm doing and why

      At my stage? The whole drawing took less than 30 minutes - while I was teaching, too - That doesn't seem so long.

    Your ability to take such a complex streetscape and simplify it into such a lovely painting. My favorite part of this painting is how the scooter merges into the wall that is in shadow but full of such rich color! Wowza!

    You are so clever painting these sort of scenes and make it look so effortless. I would never consider a busy, chaotic side street like this as a subject.

    Thanks as always. I liked the discussion of the 'time factor' of different brushes. I really like the way cheap flats run out of paint quickly, but on the other hand long riggers keep going and going. Both are very useful.

    • @thomaswschaller
      @thomaswschaller  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! Sometimes the "best" brushes for a task aren't always the best - or most expensive - ones :)

    Thank you Thomas! I'm so happy that you decided to post more lessons recentely. And fortunately it happened exactly at the time when I basically gave up the watercolour after 4 years of almoust dayly practicing but being unhappy with results. Now I never miss your lessons and enjoy every single one of them, often I paint along with you and it makes me balanced and serene. Thank you!!

    Once again, Thomas, a very appreciative thank you for your time. You describe colour usage, composition, sunlight and shadows in an understandable logical way, which helps so much in learning to paint with watercolours. Good wishes to you and your little man Otis.

    I love to see your drawing before the watercolor painting, thank you for sharing your complete process with us.
    Do you mind to film in horizontal format, so that we can see your palette and mixing too? I find it very interesting too how you handle your colors/mixing.
    On Android tablets, which are in opposite to iPads horizontal tablets, we see lots of empty grey spaces left and right of your videos 😢

    I picked up watercolor in March. Wow it's hard. Watching you paint makes me feel like I can do it. Thank you for sharing your time with us. I really enjoy being able to see what you do with the a paint. It completely changed the amount of water I've been using. Oh, and I am going to say 'no' to indigo.... I may or may not be guilty of making all my shadows sad. :)

    Hi Thomas... excellent video...however I want to ask ...what if I do watercolor in section by section not classic washes from top to bottom...several washes? I love Louise De Masi style .. section by section...will it hamper my future artwork to do every painting like this?

    • @thomaswschaller
      @thomaswschaller  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you - But of course that is something I can't answer. As a person and an instructor, I would never say that there is any one "right" or "wrong" way to paint. I'd say that if you're unsure of your "lane" - try various techniques or styles until one more clearly feels right to you. Then develop it as long as it feels correct. Eventually, you will develop a style all your own
