Here's the thing, somewhere along the line, we switched from calling the place "Pine Mountain State Park" to "Chained Rock State Park." I knew better! 🤦♂️ So in editing the video, I did my best to cut out all of our incorrect references, LOL. So yes, Catfish got cutoff! 🤷♂️🤣
what an awesome place, that was one tremendous view from up there and the rock and chain was incredible to see as well and to learn about it. Yes, those geological features were incredible. The little slot in between the rock was awesome. So glad you guys got to check this place out. KY is so beautiful. I hope to make it to this one eventually!
I imagine the views here (and Cumberland Gap down the road) would be even more beautiful once everything greens up! My parents were from eastern Kentucky, but we never had time to explore when I was growing up, we just went down to visit my grandparents. I had no idea just how beautiful the state was, until maybe the last 8 years or so. So much to explore!
What a great adventure that you are now able to check off your list! That is one bid chain. Loved the different rock texture. I really enjoyed learning about Chain Rock as you explored. Great video.
Funny thing, while we were there, we totally bought into the myth! It wasn't until afterward that I did some research and discovered the real background story. Too funny! Loved the scenery. Thanks for watching, Max!
The chain's rusting. The rock looks basaltic. I'd like to cross that chain to the other side using the hand over hand technique. My Dad and I were going to explore that area since he used to work the oil wells in eastern Kentucky but it's too late now. Thanks for the great post and explore. 👍
We had the same line of thinking! Basaltic definitely crossed my mind, and yeah, when I stood below the chain, I wondered how many people have tried to cross it! My parents were from eastern Kentucky, my grandfather was a coal miner. Interesting area.
I know right? Pine Mountain has a lot of great parks along it's length, this is the first one I've visited (ever so briefly) and that chain with those views was really cool. Thanks for watching!
“I hope I Don’t Die” is a good slogan. And I bet retention after that was good. I have heard of this place but not the legend and also the TRUTH. That’s the part I like about your channel. It’s entertaining and informative. And you seem to balance the 2 well. Still something I’m always balancing on our channel. Catfish is a smart cookie and you are brave going up there. What a view!
It was a very cool place, excellent scenery! Dude, your channel is always entertaining, with you and your family's contagious attitude and enthusiasm. Being informative is a bonus!
Thanks! We definitely need to explore that area more. My parents were from eastern Kentucky, but we never explored much other than going to my grandma's when I was growing up.
We're actually from the Williamsburg area. This is such a beautiful area of Kentucky. I'm always a sucker for a nice view and it looks like you lads took in some great vistas!
I'm not feeling really positive that chain would stop that rock. Pretty view but I would have been down there with Catfish LOL I didn't see any answers about the rock formations. Very interesting!
We didn't know the story while we were there, we totally bought into the myth! It wasn't until afterward that we learned that story. Makes me wonder how many other places out there have cool stories like that.
Went up there and touched the chain when I was 10 years old , 1970. Evan then I knew if that rock fell the chain would break like a thread, it would be useless.
BEautiful view, love the mountains and the people!!❤
Yes, I couldn't agree more!
That was really cool! Funny story about the history of the chain. Great views too. Great adventure! Catfish got cutoff in the intro

An interesting tale indeed and a group to perpetuate the myth.... LOL Love it.

Thanks! I'm in a few Kentucky hiking groups on Facebook, so that's where I first learned of it. So much to explore!

@@SlonesWildernessExpeditions Thanks, that means a lot.
Awesome video guys!! I love that area. Really cool seeing the chain. Whether it would ever hold or not I’m not sure 🤷🏻♂️
Peace out ✌️

I have yet to go there...really cool!
It was cool, and makes me want to revisit that park to see what else it offers!

It really is beautiful! My parents were from eastern Kentucky, I never fully appreciated it until recent years.

Haha yeah, pretty sure if it came to it, that rock would win over the chain! Thanks for watching LOLA!
That’s a pretty cool story.
