It seems like a nice and reasonably priced product. I just wish that it had a rest mode of around 12 hours, to allow the mainspring to partially unwind. I would have to put it on a timer.
While an automatic movement cannot be overwound, winding to the point the mainspring end slips out of its retaining notch and moves on to the next reating notch does cause unnecessary wear and dirt buildup. I would not want to use a watch winder to keep an watch fully wound all the time. I'd rather put the watch on the watchwinder during the night only.
When the mainspring is fully wound, a clutch attached to the rotor is engaged. This clutch prevents the rotor from winding the mainspring any further as it spins, preventing any damage from over winding the spring. Running an automatic winder for 1200 TPD (Turns Per Day) is enough to wind a 40 hour power reserve movement fully within 12 hours. For the remaining 12 hours when the winder is static, the mainspring unwinds as normal; thus it doesn't cause any unncessary wear or dirt build up. Lubricant is contaminated with dust particles when the crown is opened and air with dust particles enters the case. It also gets contaminated with metal particles from the moving parts. Therefore accelerated wear isn't caused by using an automatic winder, it is from running a movement for over 5 years with dirty lubricant as this increases friction on the moving parts. Wearing a watch 8-12 hours per day on wrist to wind it, or winding it 1200 TPD on an automatic winder causes the same wear in the movement. Regards, #WR4K

I see no need to keep my watches wound at 100% all the time. I won't be dying on this hill. Grind away!

Interesting that the text on the battery cover is in German… Would a watch need to be turned 1400 tpd to keep it fully wound or would less tpd suffice, once fully wound? Appears to be a solid choice for a watchwinder! Thanks for the review! Btw, can you use this type C plug in Ireland?

I got a free watch winder with my black bay 58 which was supposedly worth £350 and it is exactly the same as this winder right down to that carbon fibre looking cushion.
