I really like your alleyways for sorting. Problem for me is the room it takes and some good flat ground doesn’t hurt either. So many uses for used oilfield pipe. Nice work. Looks like some nice weather there too.
Great video. Wish I had oil pipe closer to home and I would follow your example. Nothing on the farm pays for itself faster than our tools. Especially the welder.
Do you have an opinion on the size of the "Flags" weld the pipe hinges with? Would you say a Lap weld on a 3x5 inch piece is better than a butt weld on a 3x3 piece??
On your ends of the sucker rod blow a hole in pipe and slide sucker rod in only takes a few min and eliminate the ends breaking loose. Just blow holes in both ends acre rod together and slide ends in first I use short ropes to hang in place while welding.I also use a comalong to pull tight just weld one end then steach.I also use the cable clips to make sure they stay. I have seen a nice horse killed just welding corners like you do it was cut off at a 45 he run about 8 feet of it threw him. That's when I started inserting ends. It's also stopped the ends from break-in loose
Clipping the sucker rod sounds like the better idea. I have similar pipes for free, my brother in law works in the oil field same with my father and a couple cousins. I’m hoping I’ll get free sucker rod soon but I’m in no rush lol. I’m using what I have for now.
When you weld sucker rods use dc polarity and 7018 rods. Sucker rod is a hard steel and needs a high tensile weld that is produced by an 18 series rod like 7018 or 10018

If you go with sucker rod through hole in post route a plasma cutter is slick for making those.

I get particular with how things look and doing them the right way, but then sometimes I tell myself the cattle don’t care and if it works lol
I have several pasture fences that aren't very straight, but I've never seen a cow walk in a straight line either

those clips are slick, you can get any shop with a cnc to cut them out of plate as well.

Great info, thanks!

Grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't.
Thanks for the response video! I can weld alright, I just don't have a portable rig. I could rent one I guess.
Depending on how much your going to do. Say more than 35 to 40 hours of welding, you could just pay for one over hiring someone
