@@BensonAndHedgerswym my last Muay Thai match i heel hooked a guy and broke his leg he was never able to do Muay Thai again I got banned and DQ but I’m pretty sure I won that fight 😏
Idk... I do both, so I feel I can talk about this subject. If you get 2 people of equal size and beginner skill level, thai fighter vs BJJ, id say the muay thai fighter would likely win simply because you can get good at muay thai quicker than you could BJJ. However, if you take 2 people of equal size that have been training for 10+ years, the BJJ guy will probably win 9 times out of 10.
It seems weird that this is the standard in a lot of places, in the boxing gyms i have been we leave our ego in the door because we know anyone can KO you with a well placed shot or a lucky shot as well.
goated striking art, maybe even the best ever, until you take it to mma and have grapplers who can stay on their feet you need to deal with. The style is much too vulnerable to take downs, which is why it sees little success in UFC.
@@JM.MEL_ I don’t think that’s the main reason why. Maybe some to degree but I think most Thai fighters who fight professionally tend to stay in Thailand and not branch out for their own personal reasons and money isn’t everything to them so that plays a big factor in their decision. But to some degree yes you are right about the takedowns, it’s just that mt has some stand up grappling so a pro mt fighter whose never trained in a traditional grappling art could have some level of defense against a bjj practitioner. Against a wrestler, yeah that’s where it gets interesting.
@@Channel-ml4qv While its true that they don't branch out because Muay Thai is seen as an honor and other cultural reasons, I disagree that they would do well against BJJ dominant mma fighters. If you watch Rodtang (one of muay thais goats) vs Demetrious Johnson (one of mmas goats) youll see why muay thai has issues in mma. Ultimately, it was the BJJ that won DJ that fight.
Well that makes BJJ even better for you, its designed for smaller ppl to use leverage and angles over strength. Look up Rickson Gracie's father was very small and beat big guys, all the Gracie's are impressive. Choke doco on TH-cam is awesome 👍🏼. Depending on what you feel you want to learn in the end. All forms of striking are great and especially defence Technics to evade attack.
You do realize jiu jitsu is Asian also, it's from Japan. The Brazilians just stole it from the Japanese and have you idiots paying them hundreds a month to train in their egotistical gyms, making you think you're the superior martial art, when you're not.
True, however one of them was a mma fighter. More complete and this allowed him to get the rhythm in the striking exchanges and having success in taking rodtang down
I’m with team Muay Thai on this , but ground game is crucial in going professional
Yup

Team Muay Thai let’s go
As someone who trains both, this was both hilarious and accurate
I love jiu-jitsu and I used to wrestle but really, it should be the last line of the defense. It's all about the stand up game to be honest
Joking aside that is so true…. Made me laugh
In my anecdotal experience torn ACL’s are way more common in grappling than MT
Good point.
Conditioning is different.🤷♂️
It makes sense. I have heard stories of fighters leaving wrestling or bjj after having those injuries.

Muay thai is goat
It’s definitely an awesome striking art.
I always thought mui thia guys just love pain tbh kicking steel pols and trees and there trips ya thats deff top in my book

I would like to do BJJ or MT which one would be better?
Edit: I chose Muay Thai and Judo
