100% agree on your comments pertaining to pedal drive kayakers. I have an Old Town 120 PDL and the Chinook backing is frustrating with the high kayak seat! Don't get me wrong Chinook is a great PFD, but I'll be getting the Raku next strictly for the backside benefit.

Thanks for the anecdotal thoughts and insight. Very much appreciated and super valuable for other people watching this video

I love my Chinook. It only has one flaw. When you self rescue from a carbon Kevlar yak, it will rip a zipper head off. I have tore two of mine off the pockets doing just that. It needs to be engineered differently for zippers ! Other than that. It’s everything you need safety wise comfort wise and yak fishing or touring !

Been on a Wildy Radar 135 with PD for a few years now. Chinook always. If the seat is pushing up your PFD, I think that means you’re seat is in wrong position and needs to be moved up.

How about a review of the Kokatat Leviathon kayak fishing PFD? Compared to NRS.

Thanks for the request. When we get our leviathan stock in we will do that for sure..

I’m am considering the Aquaglide Blackfoot 130 Kayak and not sure which style vest to go with. From your video it looks like I should choose the Chinook. I’m concerned the chair will get in the way with the high floatation pad of the Chinook. Would I like the Raku better?

      Hi Steve.
From what we've seen both work with the Blackfoot. I would personally say the Raku is a safer bet with the super low profile back.
Chinook certainly works for most people though.
Thanks for checking out the video..

@@AQOutdoors Thanks, guys! I'm actually now considering the Kokatak Leviathan. Guess I need to go and try both out.

Hi, which one would you recommend for a recreational open canoest? I don't fish. I just like a fishing pfd for the extra storage that they offer.

Thanks for checking in Brian. This is only my personal opinion but I woukd lean towards the Raku. From chatting with and fitting people in the shop it seems to be the most popular with canoeists. Ultimately though it woukd come down to fit and comfort. If you have a retailer nearby I would recommend trying them both on. If not and you are buying online, I would lean towards the Raku.

Chinook hands down. You float better in the water and it’s extremely comfortable in the yak !
