@ Expedition Theme Park Regardless of what the event will be next year and beyond in the future, HHN will continue to influence me to write my own house and zone ideas. They’re something that you’re gonna love if you wanna see them.
So just to mention... Your videos are the videos I showed my wife before we were married, to get her prepared for HHN. She was from Iceland and was terrified of the theme parks, let alone going to the theme parks for Halloween. Last year... we got married during Halloween Horror Nights. We love your videos, and I don't think she would've been as interested in HHN if it weren't for the hype your videos helped generate with her.

Forgive me for asking, but why was she terrified of theme parks in general? Did she think the rides were scary? I mean, I get that. I like going to theme parks for the theming and usually hold the bags while everyone else is on the rides, but...I'm genuinely interested to understand what's going on there.
This HHN was the best post-pandemic event I’ve been to. Dead Man’s Pier’s opening set was absolutely beautiful, with the violin playing against the wind & waves.
Always one of my favorite things about HHN each year is the Expedition Haunts Wrap-Up! I still binge watch past years whenever I'm really missing the event
In regards to the event feeling more family friendly, I didn’t know the HHN fandom felt that way about the event. I think it improves every year, better than being stuck in the Walking Dead no-icon era. This year was themed to classic Halloween all-around so ofc it feels a little kiddish, but it’s still got that disturbing twist like always, and it’s an awesome style.
Honestly agree, as someone who hasn't gone cause I am very afraid and dont live in the area, but love to watch videos on the history and some of the houses, its great to see a more classic halloween vibe for the year. As a sucker of the classic halloween aesthetic as well lol.
I think there's been a noticeable shift so it's more accessible to younger folks -- not necessarily a bad thing. Back in the day, before the alcohol limit, people would get drunker and it aimed to be more adult. With the alcohol limit and a shift in theming, it's less shit-faced people and more teenagers, adults, older adults, etc. Probably helps pull in the $ too
Fiesta de Chupacabras was such a fun house! It seems huge, the line of sight thing you mentioned was so apparent last year with FdC and Dead Man's Pier: Winter's Wake. Genuinely, Winter's Wake was so breathtaking that it did even matter to me that it wasn't scary. I was so immersed that I got jump scared a few times while I was trying to take it all in. Classic Monsters was glorious, also my #1 house of the year. Dracula won my walk-through and at the end, he deeply bowed to me and presented the Wolfman's head. It felt weirdly personal, and a great way to end a very scary house.
Thx for the video, and for the thx to scareactors. I was one of the Grabbers in Blumhouse. I get chills and weep some whenever I see new videos about us. That sounds silly, but, truly, once you’re in, you’re in a strange family of scary love. Can’t wait to see what this year holds.
I can't wait to go back and have one of the absolute best night(S) of my year with my friends and family. It's the best experience in the parks at night.
HHN 31 has been my fav. It had a great atmosphere and good eats. And I love nautical houses so “Ship of Screams” still lives with me from years past. And “Dead Man’s Pier” was so darn good in 2022. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2023.

This was my first year at HHN. Did the RIP Tour and loved every minute in the park! The haunted atmosphere and themed foods were insane! Dead man's wake was a hauntingly beautiful house, and Nightmare Fuel was an incredible show!!
I am SO happy to see this! I was hoping you'd make a video on this, as this was actually my first HHN! I had a blast and seeing everything again just put the biggest smile on my face!
These expeditions make me want to experience HHN even moar! It looks absolutely thrilling, and I give major props to universal for diving into a Halloween event soooo thoroughly because Imo Halloween and scary movies just don't get the recognition they strongly deserve!!!❤
I live through these videos! I have no one to go with to haunt events so this is the easiest way for me to experience them. Hopefully one day I can make it because it looks so amazing!
It occurs to me that, God willing, for the 40th anniversary of _Back to the Future,_ the unifying theme ought to be that everything takes place in the Biffhorrific 1985.
I'm so happy to finally have a house from Soundstage 24 be my favorite from the event! That location has been on fire the last few years, but Chupacabras and Dead Man's Pier were easily my favorite houses of the event. Blumhouse & Monsters were pretty close but I thoroughly enjoyed walking through SS24 this past year! Fiesta de Chupacabras was my favorite house of HHN 31! It gave me everything I wanted to see; A unique location with distinctive characters, an awesome creature design with some expert puppeteering, and a consistently fun and enjoyable run every single time. The beautiful bright colors bouncing off the set design for the villas, you really like you were in a remote Latin American village. The villagers' masks were so beautiful and creepy! And I got a huge scare from one of the Chupa puppets that literally almost smacked me in the face! Instantly took this house to #1 for me. Dead Man's Pier was a close second. And I mean CLOSE. It's this amazing hybrid of The Fog meets Edgar Allen Poe. The set design in that house is jaw-dropping. They made such good use of the tiny space they had in the house! All of the fisherman's designs were unique and eerie and the soundtrack, that violin sonata playing in the background as you moved through really set the mood. And of course, the facade of the sinking ship with the ghostly violinist playing just before you make your way on it is one of the most memorable scenes I've seen! It would've been my number 1 if it only slightly scarier but from time to time, that house will get you good!
I love all of the creativity put into this event, and I love to watch the videos on HHN; I can't go in person because of some health stuff that makes scaring me a very bad idea, so this is a fun way to live it vicariously :)
I got to go for the first time last year! It was amazing! It all went by so fast that it's kind of a blur but I remember being surprised at how unique The Weeknd house was! I loved the lighting and sound! I've worked in the haunt business for years so it was nice to actually be surprised by the design of a house!
I got to admit, even though my trip was ripped apart with the hurricane I'm coming back from Minnesota to see it again. Got my hotel and dates plan. Last year was just amazing and really love the classic monster house the best.
I went to HHN for the first time last year. I’m a scaredy-cat so wasn’t sure if I’d like it so we only booked one night (something I have regretted since) and because we were jet lagged we didn’t spend as much time as I’d have liked as we only got through three houses, The weeknd, universal monsters and chupacabra, I loved them all but the feeling of waiting in that “nightclub like” queue for the weeknd (as it was the first house and not knowing what to expect) will always be something special, any time I hear any of The Weeknds songs I think of this great night. I was terrified going through the houses but enjoyed it all the same. We did get through all scare zones (multiple times for some) try some of the food and also watched both shows. We will be back one year and I plan on making the most of it next time! Thank you for this video Sam, brings back good memories for me!
What's sad is your only talking about Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida, so you didn't get to experience something exclusive to Universal Studios Hollywood, thats the Jabbawokies stage show, they have preformed every year for the park for at least the last 4 or 5 years

This year I FINALLY got to take my best friend down! We went down for Dracula but unfortunately Weather+Timing+them getting a minor case of heat exhaustion meant we never got to do Legends collide. Even so, they still had a LOT of fun and - budget permitting - we're hoping to go down togoether again this year. Their favorite house was Hellblock Horror actually. But our first house was Halloween. They realized it was their first house and they were absolutely targeted which actually made sure we got about every scare. It was great!
Ok, my guess is 12. I have my tickets for this year and can wait. I too, can't listen to Weekend without thinking of my time at HHN. I love watching you guys before I go, so I can be prepared. I'm not the best at Haunted House, but go to take my Dad he loves. it. To tell the truth, I'm beginning to kinda like them myself. Thank you!
This year was my first year doing HHN in Hollywood. And, I have to thank your videos on the history of HHN and the Icons for being one of the major reasons I even gave Hollywood a try. As an Autistic person, it's hard for me to deal with scary stuff. But, you encouraged me to be brave enough to try. I had the time of my life!
Dead Man's Pier was definitely my favourite house last year. I think that Coven and Bugs were underrated, at least towards the end of the season. They figured out the timing and effects, so both houses got more and more intense as they went on.
HHN 2022 was my first year going. I only managed 4 houses and a show before my feet gave in. It was my 5th day in a row going to theme parks so my feet were very pained. I'm hoping to go again this year and get tickets for two days rather than one. My favorite house was Dead Man's Pier just because the theme was so good.
I was SO proud to have worked at Dead Man's Pier, its the best looking house I've ever seen. But as gorgeous as the set was, I do have to admit Universal Monsters was my favorite house, and it definitely deserved house of the year. A lot more scary than ours was. Those actors were on their A-game and the scares were so fun and creative.
I'm a bit of a weenie so I've never really gotten into this event but your podcast has made me very curious because of the enthusiasm (no pun intended ) you both share for it
Hi Sam. I am more of a Mickey Not so Scary person. I like watching Expedition Enthused reactions to HHN. Keep the Scares coming and don't get Fooled on April 1st.
'I'll see you in the fog' is Knotts' tagline, though, not Universal! That said though, I think my favorite house from last year was Fiesta de Chupacabra. Just the setting, the solid story, the costumes... and I just like chupacabras. 10/10. I doubt the Chucky house will be scary at all, and more comedic, that's why they're not afraid to talk about it this early. I wonder if the queue will use the talking Chucky interactivity from the scarezone two years ago.
And now that I entered my 32...let me comment great video as always. I never got a good solid run thru Classic monsters, timing was off for me every time unfortunately! And I got to say you mentioned Scarecrow, that's like my all time fave original of my years of going!
If my memory is correct, I think that Descendants of Destruction is actually a sequel to Seeds of Extinction, taking place after the meteor crash and the plants mutating.
I won't be able to go to horror night this year, but I been getting ads for the new houses. The ads are always pretty good, but I'm curious how these new houses are. Can't wait to hear what you think about them. :3
The hit of Halloween 4 months early I didn't know I needed! I'd love to attend HHN, but the timing and pricing is tough for a workaday guy like me, so I live vicariously through your videos and reviews! I think the classic Halloween aesthetic was fun, and there were some solid themes, even if I'd jostle a few houses around in my personal rankings. Looking forward to the house reveals over the summer! (and crossing my fingers that Major Sweets gets a promotion to full haunted house this year)

My favourite houses have to be Universal Monsters Collide and The Weeknd.. I absolutely loved the story of Collide as Universal Monsters is always my favourite house I want to experience, specially this years with UM:Paris, and The Weeknd made me jump while also want me to dance throughout, loves the story as well

Will you ever do another full video on the history of howl o scream? I coulda sworn you did one before, but it seems to have been missing for a while. It was super informative tho and had references and images to things long past that I can't find elsewhere online
I never got to go to any HHN. I wanted to go last year, but I couldn’t persuade my sister to go due to her being a scaredy cat. I’m thinking of persuading her to go during the morning and I could buy my own tickets for the night.
Last year was my first time at the event, and I had a mostly enjoyable time. There were only a few little things that dampened the experience. The biggest being that I had my "Oh, This Isn't Fun Anymore" moment during Descendants of Destruction. It was a good house, but I had trouble navigating it- to the point that i almost walked into an actor and both me & my mom walked into the same wall- and I just couldn't do another house afterwards. A shame too, as I really enjoyed Monsters (got the triple scare, it was awesome) and was really looking forward to Dead Man's Pier, but it just wasn't meant to be. Another thing was the food. We got the Twisted Tater, which was fine, but the maggot dog was cold- like the cheese inside barely melted, cold. yet another shame, but as disappointed as i was, i wasn't mad or anything, it happens. Seems like we just had a dud night. However, the scare zones? On point, had a blast. And the rides were great to do at night, especially with the lower wait times. Definitely want to do it again, but perhaps with the behind the screams tour to get a good feel of the house layout first.
It’s so interesting to me that so many people liked the chupacabra house cuz me and all my friends thought it was very lame 😅 we thought the puppets were very dumb looking, the house wasn’t scary and we were just waiting till it was over 😂 plus side tho, we danced a lot in this house as there was some great salsa music playing 🎉
I’ve been going to hhn for 11 years and I felt like 2022 was one of the weakest events I attended. After Hours, Bugs, Halloween, And The Black Phone section of Blumhouse were my favorites and I loved them so so much. Everything else felt mild, BUT the classic Halloween aesthetic gave me so much joy, loved loved loved the classic Halloween aesthetic.

Oh man I really liked the monsters unleashed house we had in Japan, Hunchback, wolfman, dracula, the phantom, and Frank. It was a fun time!

Dead Man's Pier was a close second. And I mean CLOSE. It's this amazing hybrid of The Fog meets Edgar Allen Poe. The set design in that house is jaw-dropping. They made such good use of the tiny space they had in the house! All of the fisherman's designs were unique and eerie and the soundtrack, that violin sonata playing in the background as you moved through really set the mood. And of course, the facade of the sinking ship with the ghostly violinist playing just before you make your way on it is one of the most memorable scenes I've seen! It would've been my number 1 if it only slightly scarier but from time to time, that house will get you good!
I love all of the creativity put into this event, and I love to watch the videos on HHN; I can't go in person because of some health stuff that makes scaring me a very bad idea, so this is a fun way to live it vicariously :)

After my last trip back in 2019 it definitely felt good to finally attend the event.
Really loved the retro halloween theme.
I got to go for the first time last year! It was amazing! It all went by so fast that it's kind of a blur but I remember being surprised at how unique The Weeknd house was! I loved the lighting and sound! I've worked in the haunt business for years so it was nice to actually be surprised by the design of a house!
I am going for the first time on Labor Day weekend and I couldn't be more excited! I have lived vicariously though your videos in the meantime 😅
I got to admit, even though my trip was ripped apart with the hurricane I'm coming back from Minnesota to see it again. Got my hotel and dates plan. Last year was just amazing and really love the classic monster house the best.
I went to HHN for the first time last year. I’m a scaredy-cat so wasn’t sure if I’d like it so we only booked one night (something I have regretted since) and because we were jet lagged we didn’t spend as much time as I’d have liked as we only got through three houses, The weeknd, universal monsters and chupacabra, I loved them all but the feeling of waiting in that “nightclub like” queue for the weeknd (as it was the first house and not knowing what to expect) will always be something special, any time I hear any of The Weeknds songs I think of this great night. I was terrified going through the houses but enjoyed it all the same.
We did get through all scare zones (multiple times for some) try some of the food and also watched both shows. We will be back one year and I plan on making the most of it next time! Thank you for this video Sam, brings back good memories for me!
This will be my third time going to HHN this year.. and all I can say is I cannot wait I am super excited!

What's sad is your only talking about Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida, so you didn't get to experience something exclusive to Universal Studios Hollywood, thats the Jabbawokies stage show, they have preformed every year for the park for at least the last 4 or 5 years
I counted 40 references that I know for sure. But I don't know how sneaky you're being and I have 8 additional past house references that I'm not 100% sure you were trying to "sneak" in.🤔

This year I FINALLY got to take my best friend down! We went down for Dracula but unfortunately Weather+Timing+them getting a minor case of heat exhaustion meant we never got to do Legends collide. Even so, they still had a LOT of fun and - budget permitting - we're hoping to go down togoether again this year. Their favorite house was Hellblock Horror actually. But our first house was Halloween. They realized it was their first house and they were absolutely targeted which actually made sure we got about every scare. It was great!
I'm hoping for Five Nights at Freddy's. With the movie coming out probably next year it's the perfect time.

This year was my first year doing HHN in Hollywood. And, I have to thank your videos on the history of HHN and the Icons for being one of the major reasons I even gave Hollywood a try. As an Autistic person, it's hard for me to deal with scary stuff. But, you encouraged me to be brave enough to try. I had the time of my life!

Dead Man's Pier was definitely my favourite house last year. I think that Coven and Bugs were underrated, at least towards the end of the season. They figured out the timing and effects, so both houses got more and more intense as they went on.
I enjoyed them and none was bad! Just comparing them against each other
Halloween was my favorite, I loved how they created the the original Stroud house inside.

HHN 2022 was my first year going. I only managed 4 houses and a show before my feet gave in. It was my 5th day in a row going to theme parks so my feet were very pained. I'm hoping to go again this year and get tickets for two days rather than one. My favorite house was Dead Man's Pier just because the theme was so good.
The weekend was literally one of my favorite houses ever, I thought it was PHENOMENAL
I was SO proud to have worked at Dead Man's Pier, its the best looking house I've ever seen. But as gorgeous as the set was, I do have to admit Universal Monsters was my favorite house, and it definitely deserved house of the year. A lot more scary than ours was. Those actors were on their A-game and the scares were so fun and creative.

That said though, I think my favorite house from last year was Fiesta de Chupacabra. Just the setting, the solid story, the costumes... and I just like chupacabras. 10/10.
I doubt the Chucky house will be scary at all, and more comedic, that's why they're not afraid to talk about it this early. I wonder if the queue will use the talking Chucky interactivity from the scarezone two years ago.

The hit of Halloween 4 months early I didn't know I needed! I'd love to attend HHN, but the timing and pricing is tough for a workaday guy like me, so I live vicariously through your videos and reviews! I think the classic Halloween aesthetic was fun, and there were some solid themes, even if I'd jostle a few houses around in my personal rankings. Looking forward to the house reveals over the summer! (and crossing my fingers that Major Sweets gets a promotion to full haunted house this year)

I never got to go to any HHN. I wanted to go last year, but I couldn’t persuade my sister to go due to her being a scaredy cat. I’m thinking of persuading her to go during the morning and I could buy my own tickets for the night.

Didn’t know the ending for the Monsters house was random! I got Wolfman winning
Last year was my first time at the event, and I had a mostly enjoyable time. There were only a few little things that dampened the experience. The biggest being that I had my "Oh, This Isn't Fun Anymore" moment during Descendants of Destruction. It was a good house, but I had trouble navigating it- to the point that i almost walked into an actor and both me & my mom walked into the same wall- and I just couldn't do another house afterwards. A shame too, as I really enjoyed Monsters (got the triple scare, it was awesome) and was really looking forward to Dead Man's Pier, but it just wasn't meant to be.
Another thing was the food. We got the Twisted Tater, which was fine, but the maggot dog was cold- like the cheese inside barely melted, cold. yet another shame, but as disappointed as i was, i wasn't mad or anything, it happens. Seems like we just had a dud night.
However, the scare zones? On point, had a blast. And the rides were great to do at night, especially with the lower wait times. Definitely want to do it again, but perhaps with the behind the screams tour to get a good feel of the house layout first.

It’s so interesting to me that so many people liked the chupacabra house cuz me and all my friends thought it was very lame 😅 we thought the puppets were very dumb looking, the house wasn’t scary and we were just waiting till it was over 😂 plus side tho, we danced a lot in this house as there was some great salsa music playing 🎉
My husband was one of the lucky ones to hit the deck due to the Monsters triple scare 😂
I’ve been going to hhn for 11 years and I felt like 2022 was one of the weakest events I attended. After Hours, Bugs, Halloween, And The Black Phone section of Blumhouse were my favorites and I loved them so so much. Everything else felt mild, BUT the classic Halloween aesthetic gave me so much joy, loved loved loved the classic Halloween aesthetic.
