What I love about Jack is that he embraces the clown part of "evil clown." He's scary, sadistic, and monstrous--but he also has a sense of humour and snark, and it makes his stage shows all the more enjoyable. I feel like a lot of evil clowns really miss out on the comedy aspect.
I love it when Jack tells jokes. I think I remember watching an video or two of him heckling "the workers of Walmart" in the crowd, that got a laugh out of me. Also the one time someone called out Beetlejuice as a suggestion for the face painting section of the first show. He told them "his ass is on the other side of the park" and "I wipe my ass with his striped suit!" Which is ironic because James Keaton played Beetlejuice at one point in the graveyard revue show.
My favorite clown horror movie is Killer Klowns from outer space. They were creepy, malicious aliens bent on consuming the human populace of a small town. However, they're also clowns. The web their victims in cotton candy, use killer puppets and balloon dogs, and sail in a literal 'big top' ufo They're a perfect balance of clown and monster
It takes a true actor to have a sense of humor while being evil.... and then turn it all off at the end of the night. I applaud you Mr. James for your role of Jack and the many roles you play around the parks during normal season.
When I started work at Universal in 2001 the 2 guys who taught my orientation were Kenny Bobol (Jack the clown) and Bryce Ward ( The Caretaker). It was awesome
Maybe they’re saving him for a special occasion or after they’ve developed his character more. Either way, all these years of Jack would be genius advertising
James Keaton is so good as Jack! Can't imagine anyone else portraying him. GIVE US THE JACK MOVIE UNIVERSAL YOU COWARDS! (I CAN'T BELIEVE I THOUGHT HIS REAL NAME WAS JACK REAL QUICK THERE 🤣🤣🤣)
Halloween Horror Nights is the reason I go to Universal yearly. Jack is cool, and I doubt they’ll ever create an icon more iconic than him. Then again, aside from anniversaries I think Universal is sadly moving away from the icons and doing loose themes. Hell, 2018 and 19 were basically the 80s part 1 and 2.
If I'm not mistaken either this year or next are anniversary years, so that may mean some sweet icon reunion (the Terror Queen was supposed to comeback on 2020)
Jack's character design is really top notch! I love his hair, his costumes strike a balance between imposing and silly, and his personality gives him a crazy charisma that wraps up his entire aesthetic into some sort of haunted Jack-in-the-box. I didn't know this character even existed before I watched this video just now, but two of the snippets of him shown at the beginning (1:14 - 1:31) already sold me on his character.
The story of the discovery of Jack's corpse is based on another real-life event, one that actually involved Universal: The discovery of the dried-out corpse of gunslinger Elmer McCurdy in a carnival dark ride during the shooting of the Six Million Dollar Man.
2015 was my first year going to HHN, and the live stage show seriously roped me into all of it. Jack and Chance are by far my two favorite icons from horror nights!
I worked a miserable job in food service during a HHN (2010) and often encountered the poor scare actors in the locker rooms. They would tell me how they kept getting hit by visitors and how hard the shifts were on their bodies. I hope these days they receive proper medical insurance (not a nurse station visit) for the injuries they receive during their hard, honest and underpaid work. Also fun fact: the original Dreamfinder (Ron Schneider) writes for HHN.
While I'm too much of a weenie to actually go to these events, I still love learning about the events. Kinda wish the website have more detailed pages like they used to... Maybe do Bloody Mary next? Just don't say her name three times...
I love when any creepy dark ride story revolves around finding a real corpse in a haunted house, because that's absolutely based on a real true crime case (Look up Elmer McCurdy & the $6 Million Dollar Man if you haven't heard of it 😳).
I was at the first HHNs where Jack came to life.... he was awesome.....one of the best creations that university has and have ever created.... it was awesome ... great video and history behind this and as usual you jacked it out of the park!!
The expedition horror nights is my favorite thing you've done im so pleased to see more content coming out for it. I hope you find ways to continue the series. I'll keep watching 👀
2019 was my first year at HHN so I'm SUPER hyped to see an icon for the first time at the event this year! We just booked our tickets, September can't come quickly enough!!
The Dutch Walibi World - which I believe was briefly owned by Universal - has their own Eddie the Clown during the Fright Nights. Looks like Jack's brother crossed the pond.
I am so happy that you used a clip from one of my videos! I’ve been watching your stuff for years and what you do is one of the reasons why I decided to share the few videos I have in my collection. I just wish I had video of Jack popping up at the end of the T2:3D show. I’ll never forget that moment! Anyway, keep up the great work!
I'm an aspiring actor and one of the "easiest" ways of becoming a well-established actor in Hollywood is by starting with horror movies (they are fairly easy to book and scripts are in endless supply) however I have struggled with severe anxiety disorder all my life and hhn and behind the scenes of hhn and horror movies is how i bridge both sides of me. so thanks for helping me with that! (and no growing up I wasn't allowed to watch anything remotely scary and tbh that did not help the anxiety just perpetuated the fear of the unknown)
I remember the commercials for HHN with Jack and chance from when I was super little I live in orlando so they are on 24/7.I remember having to sing over the commercial and cover my ears yet no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t look away!! FINALLY I can meet the horror icon who started my love and fascination with horror. I CANT WAIT TO SEE JACK IN 2021!!!
I really hope that Halloween Horror Nights X's (2000) haunted houses and other walkthroughs were filmed and get rediscovered one day, especially that unique Dark Torment haunted house. :)
It IS LGBTQ Awareness month, so of course we can't forget Pogo the Clown. He loved having non-consensual gay relationships with boys under half his age then burying their murdered corpses underneath his house. Most gay men report their first gay experiences with a MUCH older man. MAPS for life!
I'm going to my first HHN this September. I've been watching all the videos of the event's history to mentally prepare. As freaked as I am by clowns, Jack would be awesome to see at the event this year. I hope they bring back past icons for the anniversary event
Hello from 2023, the year we finally get some more insight into Dr. Rich Oddfellow. Jack certainly won't be happy about this shift in focus, but as long as there are liberal references to him in scare zones and in a couple houses, I think the long time fans will be satisfied.
FIRST!! 🤘🤘🤘 James Keaton is a gift! I've seen this guy so many times over the years in Orlando! 2007 was my favorite year! The Carnival of Carnage was epic!
What a brilliant video, and with such professional production value. I always wanted to know Jack’s history, and you made it happen. Thanks for posting this. I am hitting the sub button now!
Can't wait to watch this video. I love all of your HHN content! I hope this will be a series leading up to HHN 30 since there is a rumored Icon house! It would be interesting to hear all of their stories before going through that house.
I recently seen on TickTock that Jack is back and I had no idea who Jack was to see this background of the character and his history was so interesting I’m glad I watched it your video was super informative and great storytelling I almost forgot that it was fictional!
Although the media was given a flash drive the previous year you forgot to mention the very fun way when Jack's full reveal would happen. Fun fact they gave me and my buddy drinking bands without checking our i.d. in 2000 we were 18 and drank all night! then fallowed us to our car and sent us home drunk when they finally caught on as we were leaving the park. we got trespassed for one year and were back the next year and repeated the same thing it was EPIC.

Are there any evil mermaids? Unicorns? Fairies? I think the closest I can think of is the Krampus mascot they use during the holiday season.
"do you want to be in pictures?" i wanna see one on the director
The Usher!! Requested by Dawn and Tyler lol..and we request a BGW HOS!!!
terra queen :)
and maybe unofficial icon from HHN 22-29

Hopefully he’ll be at this years event with all the other icons
I hope so!
That’s what I’m hoping for

everyone else: it’s too early for spooky seasons
Expedition theme park: BET
Never
It’s never too early for the spoops
What the music?
Why hasn’t universal used this expansive backstory and made a Jack movie?!
Would be amAzing
@@ExpeditionThemePark seriously. Missed opportunity. They could have a whole monster verse which would be better than the failed mummy reboot.
Maybe they’re saving him for a special occasion or after they’ve developed his character more. Either way, all these years of Jack would be genius advertising
An origins movie for each icon
Seriously, they could have an entire anthology series with all of the icons.
James Keaton is so good as Jack! Can't imagine anyone else portraying him. GIVE US THE JACK MOVIE UNIVERSAL YOU COWARDS! (I CAN'T BELIEVE I THOUGHT HIS REAL NAME WAS JACK REAL QUICK THERE 🤣🤣🤣)

Seriously! I try to be open to other actors, but it never feels like Jack without James.

That 80s synth theme at the beginning and end is a bop, great work!
Thank you!
@@ExpeditionThemePark is there anywhere we can listen to a full length version of that? I really enjoyed it as well!
Bro imagine you meet satan and he talks to you in rhymes. I would laugh in his face
lol
You get sent to Hell and it’s just Satan doing the debate scenes from Hamilton
Jack gives me very twisted, demented Grinch vibes. Maybe it's the teeth and the voice??
I can see that

I loved the 80s theme. I could see them doing a 90s theme in the future. But I feel like more icon based years are coming.
Jack's character design is really top notch! Hope you enjoy it!
2015 was my first year going to HHN, and the live stage show seriously roped me into all of it. Jack and Chance are by far my two favorite icons from horror nights!
I LOVE when you do the videos about "Halloween horror nights" !! There's so much fun info about it. It makes me really want to go one year.
Hope you get to!
The king of HHN. While I knew HHN since 2012, 2015 really roped me back into it.
Agreed!
So hype for the icon house this year! The 30th is going to be great
Can’t waittttt
I’ve never been able to go to an HHN event but I would LOVE to go
Hope you get to!
Clowns were the anchor of my childhood. They were the reason I always had a nightlight in bed and the reason I never actually got to sleep.
