- Ended up knee-deep in a midnight online shopping spree on Topshop the other day, and this is the questionable result. Grab a cuppa and get cosy because it’s a good, old fashioned try on haul with everything I bought for an inbetweeny, midsize, size 14-16 kinda gal to get through autumn. Also with some terrible singing on offer for YOUR PLEASURE.

As an ex topshop employee let me tell ya a couple things:
Firstly; you're not crazy, those jeans are a blue green! Its colour code is BGR or something like that (it's been a few years since I quit and my memory is not what it should be fore a 23 year old) which stands for blue green and it's my favourite shade of blue topshop do their denim in (second is MDT which is like your standard mid blue jean shade).
Secondly; their mom jeans have NO give, I've not know a single person who gets their actual size in the moms you have to go up at least one size to get them on, they're so rigid they just have no give! Where as their skinny jeans like Jamie or Joni, a lot of people have to size down because they have so much stretch in them and will sag if you buy a pair too big! so for example me; I'm a size 10 but an 8 in Jamie's and a 12 in Mom.
Thirdly; the jeans look fantastic on you, perfect for autumn!
Topshop trauma is real, I almost became a therapist whilst I worked the fitting rooms, assuring girls that they had not put on weight, it was in fact the jeans. It was quite heart breaking seeing younger girls get upset about a number on the label for just over two years but it definitely helped me understand that no brand has the same sizing and the world of women's sizing is insane. My wardrobe literally varies from an 8 - 16, it's madness.
You know that saying "it's not you, it's me.", well it's not you, it's the mom jeans!

Sophie Pestle it’s crazy. I used to work for this Canadian retail store Reitmans and when they changed their audience to try to get younger women, they made all of their bottoms so much smaller. I had women 16 to 76 break down in the changing rooms because they thought they’d gained weight and it was their fault. It’s actually messed up the impact of inconsistent sizing

i completely agree, i LOVE topshop jeans but as someone with quite disproportionate waist-hips (w25, h39), i have to size up from a waist 25 to a waist 29 in the mom jeans specifically to get the baggy mom jean look i really want, and then i either sew some darts into the waist or sinch it with a belt

I love how honest you are about the comfort/lack of comfort and the sagging of the jeans! Those are the two things I wanna know when I’m shopping and it’s the hardest thing to tell from just seeing someone else try them on. From here they all look great, but let’s be honest, if something doesn’t feel great, we’re probably not going to wear it a lot. I’ve got to the point where if I don’t love it I’m not gunna buy it. I’d rather have less clothes that I love and wear than loads of stuff taking up room in my wardrobe.

Thanks for taking one for the team! I stopped going into Topshop about 17 years ago (I'm 33!) because their sizing always felt very small and I have been a size 14 basically since I was 12. Even passing the door makes me uncomfortable, like the vibes I feel are "none of these things are for you 😡😡😡" so it's good to think I might actually fit in some of their stuff if I can face going in there and having a look.
PS love your accent I grew up near Ormskirk so that Lancs-Scouse adjecent twang makes me trust you even more!!

The timing of this video is surreal 😂 I’ve heard so much about topshop jeans and finally a few days ago topshop was available on ASOS... Luckily I was smart enough to buy two different sizes, because my classic 32 couldn’t even pass my thighs 😂 34 was fine, but my heart stopped for a few seconds... glad to hear it is not my “fault”.

So whilst I agree with Topshop sizing, their Joni jeans are a game changer and so very comfortable. We are the same size and I have thick thighs, just quite short. Definitely give them a go!

Okay I haven't watched yet but just want to say I'm so glad you did Topshop! I have had a €30 voucher for Topshop since Christmas and haven't felt comfortable enough to actually shop in there because I wasn't sure if they did size 16. It's one of those shops I feel very intimidated by, and really don't feel like I belong there because of my size. Anyway, thank you for this!

If you can get American eagle in the UK, their curve jeans have been my lifesaver! Not made for “plus” of “mid” size but just made with those who have bigger hips in mind. They have more room in the thighs and are tighter at the waist. Since I’ve started wearing them I’ll never go back!
Loved this video! Also, there are these tiny sew-on snap buttons that you can pop between the gaping bits on the denim dress as an easy fix!
That white top is a style I live in! I'm also very insecure about my arms but that style top is one I can ignore that insecurity in ☺️

Yes! Topshop mom jeans make your butt looked snatched! Love them, but I like them nice and tight and get my regular size because they do stretch a little.

Anyway just found ya, thoroughly enjoyed this video and can absolutely relate to the tears and self-loathing of jean shopping in the early 2000's :| ..I remember the first pair of jeans I came across that had spandex in them and I cried for all new reasons, similar elation to the first pair of leggings I found that had pockets in them.

I only ever get on with jeans I buy from shops that have a 'curvy' (not plus size) range. I find belts uncomfortable as they dig in when I sit down cause I'm a sloucher. They're made with the wider thighs and butt, but smaller waist so you don't get all that extra space! I have a few from fashion nova curve and one more recently from PrettyLittleThingShape x

Seamstress clothing hack: for clothes that gap between buttons you could sew in snaps (i think they are poppers in the uk?) between the buttons. Its a really simple sewing diy or alteration stores should do it for cheap! (Or buy your sewing friend a pint)

I adore topshop styles, but the sizing is so confusing. I'm a size 10-12 and sometimes I need to get a 14. And it makes me feel awful, even though it shouldn't. I hope one day, sizing will just be standard and 28 inch waist will go back to being a size 10!

I would love to see the item that could be worn with tights and boots again especially the first dress . I never had my arms on show until I started watching you , your T shirt was my most amazing transformation, I'm so proud to wear it and actually after my arms saw the sun and even got a little tanned , I don't notice them so much so much so On Holiday this year I picked up some of those shoulder less elastic over booby tops with the flowing skirt?
