1:10 since the 2.4 changes, Double Throw is actually really good to play through Normal and NM. It is tricky in Hell for the same reasons all Attack builds are. Just have to farm a ton for some weapons and the right runes. But Double Throw is the safest HC Barb behind WC imo.
Phoenix Strike is definitely "you think you're good" or even higher tier. This might be purely based off memories of patch 1.13d, but in original LOD, I found Phoenix Strike to be amazing. You don't need to max all synergies, just pick 2 - preferably COLD/LIGHT. Similar to Berzerk/Vengeance, offense isn't an issue since nothing is immune to your attack - it's just kinda slow. Add in maxed Shadow and that gives you an additional tank who also has a non-immunizable attack. (So you don't get the defense/blocking of a Paladin, but you do get an extra minion that can kill stuff, so it sort of evens out in the end)
@tbone8358 yeah but they're talking about SSF clearing up to, dual mosaic is actually a grind fest getting and most people won't get a single mosaic, much less two by the time they're clearing hell
Fists of heaven is a very good build now. Demons and undead make up most of the game so holy bolt at lvl 6 is great. As for frozen orb… it’s not that great as a starter because you don’t get it until lvl 30.
I meant it as being fine as a first build to run through the game with :) I don't really pay attention to the lvl's. The real game starts at the end of nightmare anyway

I only play hc so I have a skewed vision of d2 and have played since 2000, before synergies. Best first build would be a fire Druid or fireball/orb sorc. I’m not trying to argue I’m just giving my opinion. I like your hc series.
I would definitely put ww barb at "you think you are good at the game tier" Don't get me wrong, I have done two WW barbs SSF, softcore and it's hands down my favourite build in the game, but it's just so demanding in terms of gear. You want damage, IAS, resistances, crushing blow, mana leech & meditation aura in case you run into a mana burn/unleechable mob, definitely a life tap wand for mad life leech plus some life leech on gear as well, attack rating, cannot be frozen and definitely a well geared might/hf/blessed aim merc to tank for you. Plus you gotta need to grind for levels cuz of the stupid chance to hit equation been dependant on your level. But goddamn it is it fun to beyblade around all day.
You don't need all of that. It helps but as long as you have bo, CB and some resists you'll be fine. A good weapon, a tals mask and if you really want to grind for it a death's sash and you'll be fine. Oh and WW barbs are super sweet for sure!
@@thenuclearrabbit I actually prefer Hsaru's two piece with either a Hawkmail for Normal/Nightmare and a two handed weapon, or if I can find a good 1h weapon, pair it with a rhyme shield.
I beat the game pretty easy with Plague Javelin as my main attack and Lightnig Fury for poison immunes. Lightning fury is kinda like the Frozen Orb secondary for Sorc - doesn't take alot of points. Try it :-)

With the new runewords pheonix strike is one of the strongest lategame builds in the game

Yes LF / FO is the perfect 1a / 1b skill with how few points they require. You can SSF in HC with: LF/PJ, LF/FA, even LF/ImmoArrow.
How do you deal with immunities as single specs?
Either let your mercenary deal with them or just walk away.
Why is summon necro > druid here
Cause summon necro is one of the strongest builds in the game and summon druid almost made me quit playing the game cause of how bad it is.
Summon druid is no where near the power of the necro
