Prosecutor: Buddy couldn't handle it? Was Buddy one of your crew?
Witness: Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it, and he went to pieces.

Witness: Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued.
    Prosecutor: And he bailed out?

A lot of props in Wrath of Khan were rented rather than custom designed, including the communicators and tricorders. When I was a kid, I actually like Airplane II better than the first movie. Now the original movie is my favorite but I still love the sequel.
    Some of my favorites bits:
Did you remember that the actor playing Johnny was also the court reporter in Kentucky Fried Movie? This movie had to be a call back to that, he was playing a different character. The court reporter had hair (or a hair piece) but Johnny was balding.
    The Love Boat theme
Don't know why, just love that.
    "Hi, Jack!"
    The Rocky poster.
    "We're familiar with it."
    " Strike her! "
Same lady who hung herself in the first movie is the lady who turned into the skeleton.
    "Little breather"
Unger and Donne getting sucked out into space then Ted seeing them through the window floating/dancing and he just happened to be listening to Blue Danube.
    "Bullshit!
    "Unbelievable bullshit! "
    "What are you doing, Dave?"
Mission Impossible theme playing while Captain Oveur (who is played by Peter Graves) tries to disable ROC.
    "Blow ROC?"
    Simon turning to jelly
    "Premature ejection."
"This isn't the past or the present...this is the future!"
    "worp"
    The view screen/door with Murdock
    "Shhhhh, Shhhhh"
"Head Honcho! Numero Uno!" and seeing the Enterprise through the scope.
Also, the theme music for this movie is the theme music for the original Battlestar Galactica TV series, not one note was changed.
    Love you guys!
    Best Regards!

The ZAZ didn't want to make a sequel because they felt they did every joke that you can do in an airplane, but they came up with an idea: As Ted and Ellen are about to get married, Ted goes to meet Ellen's parents, only to realize her father is Don Corleone. And from there, they spoof The Godfather. The studio refused and went with another writer.

    - That “good sign” joke y’all missed? I’ve seen this movie a BUNCH of times and I didn’t notice it until RIGHT now! 😮 Maybe it was edited out of TV broadcasts for time? Or I’m just dumb 😄 Same thing with the “photo for the daily news” bit. I got the photo joke, but I don’t think I realized until right now that the reporter GIVES the lawyer a copy of the news paper in exchange. 🤣
    - Everyone’s talking about the Mission Impossible theme, but no one’s mentioning that they used the OG Battlestar Galactica theme at the top of the movie 🚀
    - This is one of those sequels that’s as good as the original IMO.
    - “Why the hell aren’t I notified about these things?!” is one of my favorite pre-meme memes 🤣 And LOVE the guy fencing lunar shuttle tickets.
    - The bleep blorp Machine may be the Wilhelm Scream of sci-fi movies 🤔
    - Until you mentioned it, I always assumed ZZA did this movie too. Unfortunate to hear that about them not watching this, as I think it hurts your perspective on the movie. YES, it’s repetitive at some points, but a LOT of sequels are. They took the formula we liked, but changed it up enough so that it’s different. You’ll never get to watch a movie the first time more than once, but this sequel gave us the chance to watch Airplane for the first time, twice.

I'm not sure ZAZ not watching the movie is too much of a negative commentary. It's just that they were doing ZAZ humour, so it'd be kinda a "coals to Newcastle" thing. I'm pretty sure Gene Simmons doesn't go to a lot of gigs by KISS tribute acts in his spare time.
I think this film isn't quite as good as the original, but that's kinda the opposite of that "damning with faint praise" thing ("praising with faint damnation"?). It's still a lot of fun.
This one might be a little esoteric, but: #title Dogme '95 Dromedary.

I have to make this quick as i have to get back to work but two things:
    1) Many people do not like this film because of all of the rehashing of jokes. While i have no proof I think that was intended. At the time a critique of sequels was that they just repeated the original as opposed to now where many sequels extend the story. So if this is a spoof film then the sequel MUST go overboard on the rehashing. In the words of Chris Knight (Val Kilmer from 'Real Genius') "It's a moral imperative"
    2) I am 53 and must have watched Airplane II hundreds of times as a kid. The joke you missed but found in editing about the "Place Charts here" sign took me at least 100 watches to get. So congrats on not taking 100 times :) :)

ZAZ didn't understand how to spoof something that didn't exist which is ironic since many people who enjoy Airplane have no idea what movie was being spoofed in the first one. But A2 is spoofing something that apparently they were not aware of. They were "too old" at least mentally, to make this movie. The only problem with A2 is that it requires more context than the first. You two may be a little young to get some of it. There was a bit of a sci-fi boom in the late 70s and early 80s and this coincided with the development of the Space Shuttle. Many people saw the shuttle as a step toward commercial space travel. People were thinking we would soon be buying tickets to the moon and and board spacecraft like we board an Airplane. It's all very meta and perhaps it is one of those "you had to be there" things.
