I got a Model 42 for my 12th birthday. I used it for ruffed grouse, ring neck pheasant, woodcock , bob white quail and mourning doves.
My youngest son lives in Minot ,ND and regularly shoots his limit of doves with it.
    Still shoots great.

Bring a full wallet. I have a standard field grade that I paid $1K for ~25 years ago. It would probably sell on Gunbroker at $1400 - $1500 easy today. I had a chance to acquire an engraved model back in the early 2000s and was short on funds. I'm kicking myself for not finding the money. I could have gotten for my gun + $1200. I'm pretty sure it's $5K plus in value today. I want a Model 61 22 magnum pump but they shot into the mid $2000s for a really nice one. I have a 1932 first year production .22 s,l,lr that is in great shape. Its fun collecting but calls for a deeper wallet than I got. ;)

A original factory engraved 42 will cost you over $75,000 if you could ever find one. Many, many fakes out there and only a hand full of real ones. I have owned 5 real ones.

I just had my ‘42, made in 1935 completely restored. I am 3rd generation to own it. Vent rib added, exhibition grade walnut. Fortunately my great uncle and my Dad took good care of it, bluing was mainly gone but metal and bore excellent.
Plan to shoot 16 yard trap, 28 inch barrel, full choke!

Love a little engraving on a pump, I'm not usually partial to decoration and outside condition I'm more if it functions correctly and shoots straight, but on a shotty there's room for some nice wildlife scenes 😎👍

Would love to see them bring this back in 410

I worked in the gun shops in Fairbanks, Alaska for 6 years. Starting in 1974. I sold at least 10 other guns for every Winchester sold. Nobody wanted them.

I have one of these with a modified choke. Has the best feel of quality of any gun I own. Just do not make them like that anymore.

Sad that they would not stick with high quality.

"Finicky Collectors"... read that as informed and unwilling to buy crappy guns.

The 'large foregrip' is post war field grade only. Any of the other styles are quite desirable. Did these guys do any research?
