Hi Mona :-) Thank you for watching. Gosh, has it been that long since this video went up? Time is flying! I hope you have fun making beads. These were a lot of fun to make. You probably noticed I didn't use a straw or anything in the center to support them. They worked out fine for me and are still doing well. I do think using a straw is a good idea though and I have some things I have been saving to make more beads so give both ways a try and see what you like better. It's also fun to use wire and tiny beads on them so use whatever you have. I'm excited just thinking about making them. lol You have re-interested me. lol Have fun and thanks again. :-)
Oh my goodness, how fun are these and so pretty! I'm a fabric and scrap hoarder, so this is perfect for me to try! Thanks to Blanca, I believe, for suggesting you try these, they are vibrant and amazing! Looking forward to part 2 and o see those body parts find their mates, their colors are so deep and rich, very vintage looking! As always, thanks and hugs, Debra!
I would have never imagine that making funky fabric beads could be so easy. I'm hoping to see some of those on "the bodies" that you so quickly passed in front of us!
Hi Laurie, When I teach a bead class, I have them fit as many as they can on a skewer and we then poke the pointed end of the skewer into a piece of shipping foam to dry while we work on a second skewer. A fun class for pre teens and Moms. I provide all the scraps, trim, skewers and even small sample size tacky glue bottles. A great way to clear out lots of bits and pieces.
*grins* that project you keep teasing us with.... is going to be wonderful, I just know it. ;) I love the beads you made... and the bead charms you made with some of them. =) WOW! you have some really pretty fabric scraps. =) I especially love the brown ones, from your selection for the beads you made in this video. =) *LOL!* "the baby bead didn't grow his fibers yet"... that's fun. =) *giggles* I love all the beads you made, and I especially LOVE the brown one with the crochet trim and purple beads threaded on it..... it's beautiful... =) Yeah, clamps like that are handy to have. =) I think I should find some, I often need something like that. Oh, neat! (the feed sack IS cool) =) Good for you, using it, so that you can enjoy it now. =) hi Baylee sweetheart. ;) I look forward to seeing projects that use some of your beads in them. =)
I know you know because I know you know already. lol Thanks Phoebe. I'm glad you like them. :-) I love those clamps. They really come in handy. Thanks for watching Phoebe. :-)
So I made a few of these, and now I am HOOKED! These are fabulous. You know one thing I discovered is, I have a whole stash of those tiny little seed beeds, that I have been storing (hoarding...=) for years. So, I put alittle glue on the bead base, rolled them in the beads and they are wonderful!!!! This is so much fun. Thank you again.
Awesome Linda. :-) Oh cool...thanks for sharing you did that. I have some of those super tiny beads mixed in with the ones that will go over my needle that I was thinking of using on paper beads that way but I haven't tried it and wasn't sure if it would look right or not. I'm so glad you tried it and shared it with me. Now I feel inspired to try it. So thank YOU! :-) Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
Hi Bev. Ooooo I bet they are pretty hanging from your ceiling fans. Awesome, I hope you enjoy using fabric beads. For my first attempt at making fabric beads I really enjoyed it. :-) Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
Love your fabric beads talk about using EVERY SCRAP girl right after my heart. Can't wait to see how you use them. I have enough scraps I could open a fabric bead store lol
Thanks Susan. :-) Oh my...better get busy using them unless you have a building picked out to set up shop. lol Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
Hello Laurie Thanks for sharing your take on fabric beads. You make it look so simple and fast to make. Very creative as all your other projects. Love these colorful and whimsical beads and this tutorial too. This will be my next project. Awesome! Thanks =)
Hi Blanca :-) You are very welcome. It was fun to try them. I'm sure there are many ways to make them but I like it easy and simple. lol I hope you have fun making them. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
I love them i made a few about a year ago, but not many, I was revamping my craft room at the time, I will be getting a huge box of fun wool in all colors ,so i will be making more, they make great embellishments
Laurie these are awesome. And I really love 💕 Cat Hands comment below. Also I forgot to say it was lovely hearing about your dog 🐕. As a dog lover too I always love hearing about them. Perhaps you can show her to us some time?
Thank you Mags. Unfortunately Baylee passed away in December. I miss her very much and I will miss her snoring. There are older videos where she is in them. Thanks for watching. 😊
Laurie I'm new here, I have been watching this video. so simple not to detailed with bunch of other materials I can't really afford. However, I'd like to know where can i put my hands on some fiber materials the stringy ones? I would like to purchase some . This is so very helpful and so much fun. Thank you very kindly for sharing this video.
Hi Yolanda. Welcome. I'm glad you are here and I am glad you enjoyed the video. :-) As for the fibers I used on my beads. I purchased those fibers at a quilt shop many years ago. But I have seen fibers like that in other places. I would look at places like Hobby Lobby, Michaels or whatever hobby store you have near you. I would look in the yarn section and I would also look in the area where they sell embellishments for scrapbooking because I have seen fibers like that in that section as well. You could also check quilt shops. Sometimes they carry fibers to incorporate into quilting or clothing. Also try fabric stores. Again, look in the yarn section as well as the scrapbook supply section. You can also just look online at places like Etsy and even Amazon. I did a search on Etsy for "fibers for art" and some beautiful fibers came up in the listing. I hope this is helpful and I hope you are able to find what you are looking for. :-)
Thanks so much Patdora and welcome to my channel. :-) I have had those beads for years but if I had to guess at where I got them I would say either Hobby Lobby or Michaels. :-) I hope you try it. :-)
Hi Joyce :-) I have had those fibers for years so I have no idea where I got them but if I had to guess I would guess it was Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
Hi Michelle :-) Thank you. Yes, years ago they made clothes from feed sacks and later reproductions were made into fabric. So cool. :-) Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
My grandmother made clothes for her girls out of flour sacks and when my mother (the youngest) grew out of them, she made quilts from the old clothes. In those days you didn't waste anything!
Melody...I think that is so wonderful. What a difference there is between those days and now. While I love some of the conveniences we have today I wish we still had some of the simpler times from years ago. Do you have any of the quilts she made?
Where can I buy 'fibers' at? Those colors are amazing! Also, would you possible do a video of how you set up your camera to show what you are doing? I like how it shows front facing in yours.
I bought a lot of my fibers at a quilt store years ago but you can also find fibers in places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels or fabric stores. :-) My camera set up is not sophisticated it's just a tripod on my table with my camera attached. I use my editing software to turn the video to the position that shows as if you are facing the table with me. :-)
Oh man, these are amazing!!!! The most amazing take on this I have ever seen, you are a true creative genius! Thank you so much I know I absolutely will be making these. I had to share, Laurie. Too good not to get people watching this.
Hi Zena :-) Sure, you can use hot glue if you like. I rarely use hot glue but if I was going to use it I would use the low temp glue just to save my fingers from getting hot glue on them. If you only have hot glue just be careful! :-) If you want a more "permanent" hold I still think stitching is the best option. :-)

Hi again Zena :-) Hmmm, well, I really don't know the answer to that but I'll give you some of my thoughts on it. Maybe someone else will see this message and chime in too. I've had glue difficult to squeeze from the bottle too. Most times it's because it's a thicker glue. Maybe it's older and drying out. I've also found that sometimes the hole the glue comes through isn't large enough. It's too much of a pinhole so it needs just a bit more room. I usually take a pin and open it a bit more. And sometimes the glue has dried in the lid blocking the hole some or even completely so I have to clean out the lid. It could just be the brand and the way the glue is made. See if the hole is large enough or dried over. You can water down some glues but I rarely do that. There may be a way to soften glues in the bottle but I've never done it. Just search google for ways to soften glue and see if anything helps you. I hope one of these ways works for you. :-) In the end, if I have a glue that gives me too much trouble I just change glue. lol Have a great New Year :-)

Hi Laurie, When I teach a bead class, I have them fit as many as they can on a skewer and we then poke the pointed end of the skewer into a piece of shipping foam to dry while we work on a second skewer. Oh, I love these, Laurie! LOL, little baby bead hasn't grown his fibers yet!!! 😂😂😂
Thanks Cathy :-) lol Yeah..he's a little guy...fiberless. lol Thank you for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
I love making these. Adding fibers is a great idea. Where do you get your fibers from?
Hi Joyce :-) I have had those fibers for years so I have no idea where I got them but if I had to guess I would guess it was Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
Beautiful beads.!! Love the feed sack. I heard somewhere people made clothes using the sacks and manufactured began making patterned ones. ?
Hi Michelle :-) Thank you. Yes, years ago they made clothes from feed sacks and later reproductions were made into fabric. So cool. :-) Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
My grandmother made clothes for her girls out of flour sacks and when my mother (the youngest) grew out of them, she made quilts from the old clothes. In those days you didn't waste anything!

Laurie Richardson Haley Unfortunately no. Would have loved to had one.
Awww, I'm sorry. I wish you had one too.
Wow,that is amazing. Thank you!
You are welcome :-)
Oh man, these are amazing!!!! The most amazing take on this I have ever seen, you are a true creative genius! Thank you so much I know I absolutely will be making these. I had to share, Laurie. Too good not to get people watching this.
Thank you Linda :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate that. :-) Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
Thank you!
My pleasure Delores :-) Thank YOU!
Can we use hot glue to seal fabric together permanently?
Hi Zena :-) Sure, you can use hot glue if you like. I rarely use hot glue but if I was going to use it I would use the low temp glue just to save my fingers from getting hot glue on them. If you only have hot glue just be careful! :-) If you want a more "permanent" hold I still think stitching is the best option. :-)
Can I use Elmer's glue
Hey Robin. I have not used Elmers on beads before but I have used it on other projects where I glued fabric and it seemed to work fine. You will have to hold it longer to make sure the glue grabs and starts setting up though so that is one reason I tend to use other glues on fabric....unless I can clip it and don't have to hold it. I get tired of holding. lol The one thing I'm not sure about is longevity. Nothing wrong with giving it a go though and seeing what happens. :-)
I AM SO GLAD texted me ... a lot of times I ask people and I never get a response ,,so thank u ..GLAD U TEXED ME BACK!!!!! I saturated the material with glue .and I took apart a wire clothes hanger and threaded them on to dry ...it was perfect ....I only had very few beads that had a little material sticking up ... ...ok. Thanks again !!!!!
You are very welcome :-) Awesome, that sounds perfect. And I think a little fabric sticking up makes them unique and cute so I'd go with it. I'm glad it worked out. :-)
I tried using the glue in the squeeze bottle, i had to squeeze with my might to squeeze the glue out, why is that?
:-) In the end, if I have a glue that gives me too much trouble I just change glue. lol Have a great New Year :-)
sari's are worn around the *waist*, not the *waste* (different kinda waist/waste LOL). I love how English has sound-alike words that confuse us all (to/too, etc). :) cute charms. tfs your least stressful technique
Oh my. lol No confusion on the words, just a typo. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'll get it fixed.
Great beads Laurie. I'm a quilter and have "tons" of fabric that I can use to make some of these. I actually bought a few packages of fabric beads from Alma Stoller, which are fantastic. Check her out..they are crazy. Take care....~~rita
Thanks Rita. :-) I love Alma's work...she's awesome. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. :-)
My pleasure...I appreciate all you do! :=)
