I am putting a copy of Durer's Melancholia in my studio! You are so good for what ails me. Thanks again, Art Doctor. You're the best!

Such an important topic. I have people close to me that I was surprised to learn they suffer from depression. I find this piece of art hopeful for those who battle with depression. Thank you.

    9. Also wow, I'm blown away at how much one could look into art. I feel very excited to do it to random art I find

Thank you! This video helped me with my Humanities final but is also relatable to my own battle with depression and existential fear. I love this art piece so much. Also, great video editing and very descriptive!

In which book did Cornelius Agrippa write about the types of melancholy? please i wanna read more about that topic

    • @TheArtDoctor

The book was De occulta philosophia, published in 1533. It's online, but in Latin. If you'd like to read more about it, go here: plato.stanford.edu/entries/agrippa-nettesheim/
      Hope that helps! :-)

What’s the name of the two volumes book on Melancholia 1? Great video.

Thanks so much! The most famous (and multi-volumed) work on Dürer is by Erwin Panofsky, but for some in-depth reading, I suggest "The Melancholia Manifesto" by David Finkelstein or "Perfection's Therapy" by Mitchell Merback. Happy reading!
