normally you'll find that jackpots are sold in blocks so when a ticket is closing you'll want to find that group of tickets that has yet to sell a jackpot to increase your odds.

I love playing this ticket , I've won 500 before. I also check online to see how many wins is left and it is a lot of wins out there. How can they close a ticket and all the prizes have been awarded yet?

I know. I don't think that is right.
They warehouse the tickets literally by the millions. So once you hit a certain date the lottery commission is only declaring that the tickets are no longer printing and what's out there is what remains. Legally every ticket that gets warehoused will eventually be sent somewhere in the state.
