The cast was so supporting & happy for her. She replaced the oringal actress Brenda Dickson and she had made the role her own.

I guess Jess Walton made the role her own but I still like Brenda Dickson as Jill better. I recently saw the 1st and 2nd episodes of the show during the pandemic from way back in 1973 when they were airing repeats and Brenda Dickson was in the 2nd 1/2 hour episode as Jill. I wish I could see all of Brenda's episodes from then on.

@@edgefan4437 I understand because my mom loved Brenda Dickson as Jill. I grew up with Jess, and watched Brenda's Jill on TH-cam and other areas. Brenda no doubt is captivating in the role, but the drama behind the drama ended Brenda's time as Jill. She was the star, and there were ppl who were threatened by her star power. There alot of big ego on the set of YR and Brenda wasn't the only one- she didn't kiss butt like others did to keep their job.

@@1thetvzone I wondered if others didn't like how Brenda stole all the scenes she was in? Her acting did become a bit camp but she was great and a good actress. The E! channel had the True Hollywood Story on The Young and the Restless and she said how a director didn't seem to like her and she was sick and he forced her to work even though they had 2 weeks of episodes done, which was about how many they would have "in the can" then, not like now, so she wanted to have a day off and he wouldn't let her.

@@edgefan4437 Yeah I saw The E True Hollywood story and she even said she her contract had 8 weeks left on it . She said she would of been more than happily left the show after her contract was up. She gotten sick and was having issues and nobody cared. Someone said her and Terry Lester (old Jack) were the highest paid on the show making 500,000 per show. I think her character being central to the show and having been on since day 1. i’m sure there were egos on the set. She- Brenda said when the show went to an hour the production team changed and they didn’t want any of the old cast/ characters around. There was a power struggle going on no doubt!

@@1thetvzone I notice that too...I felt that the old cast members who were on the show since 1973...were gone by the time Victor Newman came into the show. When they did came and pop in for a visit...the new cast members were shock to see them...as if they are worried about being replaced.

That was the best daytime emmys the first one in prime time and it was so classy they did a tribute to proctor and gamble for all their soap operas it was just so neat.

So funny to see Marcy Walker presenting with Michael Zaslow a few years before she would wind up on Guiding Light in a Roger-related storyline.

Maureen Garrett looks like Holly Golightly! Her clip for the broadcast is oddly out of context. I wish Kathleen Widdoes could’ve won, though.
