This is one of hose games that not many people were willing to crowd around and play for very long due to its repetitiveness and how chaotic it could be, so you'd just end up playing smash. I remember it being one of the very few games my dad had time for though because it was simplistic. There's no greater feeling than saving your dad from a horde when he has no meter or items with one of your specials - or vice versa
Repetetives? Dude the readability is so fucking fun! Every characters design will slowly change every time they level up, as a kid I was addicted to the game, so addicted that when I checked my last save file, my Wizard was lvl 99 with a Halo Ring that'll never go away. And I'm so anxious to try the other characters to see what their pets are and how different they feel.
My father, one of my uncles, and either my brother or mother, all of us working together, and switching out with other uncles or aunts or cousins every few levels. We were an ARMY of adventurers hacking, slashing, and casting our way through Scorne's armies! Good times- may they come again.
I faintly remember playing this as a little kid with my older brother and there was a chest that he told me not to break and when I did, Death came out and started draining all of his health he was so angry lol
When I first saw this game in the arcade I was all, "Gauntlet REALLY!?" in disbelief... I waited... and waited... "The Evil Demon Skorn...." but then this song kicked in.... I was hooked, before I put a single quarter in.
It's insane how nostalgic this is. Out of all the fantasy/adventure media I consumed as a kid--including LotR, Harry Potter, myriad video games, and others--THIS is the song I think of when I think "what is the soundtrack to the fantasy genre?" Despite (and I say this with love) minimal characterization, a paper-thin plot, and simple gameplay, this song--and the rest of the OST--really tied everything together in a way I can't adequately explain.
I'm waiting for a version of this to become available for DL for one of the newer systems. My family sunk SO MANY hours of gameplay into this game...oh the good times and shouting matches we had over one person or other being stingy with gold or food, lol.
It’s Saturday night, early 2000s. Rain falls outside, thunder rumbles. The tv mixes with the lightning flashing on the walls, it’s a moment from the past. Yet that memory is eternal. A kid free from the world, playing Gauntlet Legends on the Nintendo 64.
It's weird. I haven't played this game since I was six, but a brief part of a sound track from Sora no Otoshimono sounded so similar to the first thirty seconds of this that I was immediately compelled to look it up. I didn't even remember this game until my unconscious reminded me that I had. I have no memories of playing this game, nor much of anything else from when I was six, yet I instantly recognized this sound. The mind is a goddamn miracle worker...
“Find keys to open chests” “Rock shower” “Demon skull” “Double bows “ “You are now entering the poisoned fields” This game is timeless and dark legacy will forever live in my head rent free
Someone ANYONE bring this game to modern systems because that embarrassment in 2014 seems to have sunken the Gauntlet franchise forever. If there was another Midway Legacy collection that included Gauntlet Legends AND Dark Legacy I'd lose my mind.
Apparently the psone and n64 had totally different soundtracks bc none of this music sounds even vaguely familiar to that of the PlayStation version. I'm looking for the character selection theme for the PlayStation version. Anyone point me in the right direction?
+Chad Wilder hey i feel this! i remember a guitar plucking soundtrack, and i was sure it was the character select, but not this one. Bumping this up in the hopes of anyone finding it? I used to have it saved somewhere that I got off a website, but it's long gone now.
+dragonzair I actually ended up finding it after hours of grinding and searching. I have an mp3 form of it I downloaded. You're right, it is a guitar plucking on the character select screen.
I found it! This is the site if anyone wants to know. It's the 9th song down and it's 3:26 in length. :D www.zophar.net/music/playstation-psf/gauntlet-legends
Food is good.
YOU are GREEDY!
MMMM
Ah, sustenance.
Food fight!
I LIKE FOOD!
Best version of the Gauntlet Theme by far.
I like the ps1 version better.
"You are NOW entering: The Valley of Fire."
N64 version of this game will always be top notch...
Yeah even though Legacy was pretty much the same including and expansion, the very minor changes they added still makes me crave N64 version.
Gotta respect Midway for keeping their arcade legacy alive for as long as they did, I really miss them :(

This, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, Warcraft 2, and Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance helped define fantasy for me as a kid lol
Wow, so nostalgic right now haha. I used to play this with my brother all the time
This was one of my first games I had as a child. I played this nonstop EVERYDAY... I missed this game so much....
Fruit gives 50 health!!
Mmm!
Food Is Good!
Shooting magic has a lower effect!
"Meat gives 100 health!"
Food fight!

Lol I can definitely relate. Between me and my 5 brothers it was terrible. Lol but somehow we managed.
Good memories. My family and friends would play this all the time back in the day.
Go now hero, your adventure begins. May luck be at your back allies at your side and the gods smile upon you.
Mannn this game was amazing, I rented it so many times to beat it lol
Blue Valkyrie and Green Archer for the win! The N64 port is by far my favorite one. Dreamcast second. The PS1 port was too grainy for me.

Such a similar thing has happened to me today, but rather a small part of the soundtrack appeared in my head.
I could never fet tired of playing this game including the xbox version
nothing beats this music with the original gauntlet riff. if anything deserves a remake it should be this game.
Blue warrior is about to die
Red warrior Needs Food Badly
i didnt play this game but this music is nice
I wish i had friends to play with :(
“Find keys to open chests”
“Rock shower”
“Demon skull”
“Double bows “
“You are now entering the poisoned fields”

Never played Legends. But if I had to choose a character, it would either be Blue Wizard, or Green Archer.
This sounds like Hans Zimmer music to me.

look up Gauntlet Dark Legacy soundtrack. It should probably be similar to that one if anything. If not, I don't know.

Help me find it. I've been looking everywhere for the guitar version.
