What are the implications of Sudan's fighting on Egypt? | Inside Story

  • Sudan is in turmoil with no end in sight to the fighting between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
Neighbouring nations, already dealing with an influx of refugees, are worried that the violence, too, will spread.
At an emergency meeting of the Arab League, Egypt’s representative called for an immediate ceasefire, highlighting the close ties his country has with Sudan.
But that relationship means Egypt is supporting one side over the other.
How much of gamble is it taking?

I just saw a video of egyptian tanks and soldiers are on their way to sudan and according to the author of the video, they are against the rapid force
Also as an egyptian, yes maybe egypt have dictatrship but, the army personnel are not to be blamed right?
I mean those egyptian soldiers are people like me, i am 20 years old, and egypt would have been raid by terrorists without them

To understand a country’s actions, you must first know their geopolitical interests. Egypt is a country extremely dependent upon the Nile River. Any state that builds a dam upstream threatens Egypt’s fundamental economic viability. Building a hydroelectric dam is a good idea that any functioning, effective government upstream of Egypt would make. Therefore, it is in Egypt’s interests to ensure that the nations upstream of it are not functioning countries, because failed states don’t build massive dams.
Egypt will do what it can to prolong and intensify this conflict because doing so is in their geopolitical interests.

Gold/ Uranium, Oil/Phosphates etc etc --- why are there plane loads of "westerners" been evacuated", they ought to be a rational logic why else they were there in a country with no meaningful relations with the west. Sudan lies in the intersection between the Sahel and the great rift valley and the Nile basin. This is the continuation of the west/East resource wars and East Africa is a strategic powder keg between those powers....
That modern day Egypt views itself as an "Arab state" is quite frankly ridiculous, because even before ancient Egypt there was the Nile valley Basin and its link to the Sahel through the Kerma Basin and to the Africa of antiquity....

{1}.What is happening now in Sudan should be a wake-up call to Ethiopia
{ 2}. In Ethiopia, each region / ethnic group has ethnic armed-militia that is capable of waging war against the Ethiopian state. E.g. TDF/TPLF, Amahara Defence force and others.
{3}. There is an urgency of NOW to abolish all ethnic militia groups in Ethiopia, and incorporate them into Ethiopia Federal Army and under a one central/ federal command.

@@teddymesfin7715 well yes 1973 war was the last one and that was a big one and there was hundreds of thousands of soldiers who died, we know what war is and its not something to take lightly and the consequences between nations will be forever complicated, they are not bluffing nor giving warnings the Nile river is literally the source of life to Egypt (its the life line literally in the midst of desert unlike Ethiopia and Sudan were its all green and fertile) any decrease can literally turn the country situation really bad from food supply and agriculture jobs thats why there is no messing with that issue. all what is requested as a binding agreement ? why doesnt ethiopia wanna do that ? on the other hand ethiopia is trying to demonize egypt and turn africans against egypt when in the reality all what they asked for was an agreement . an example after sudan war most refugees of sudanese are actually coming to egypt with open arms, by the thousands with no visas , already pressuring a country that is in hardship.

This country called Burundi seems to be a country outside the world map. There is no touch of modernity here. The people of this country still do agricultural work as in primitive times. Only one cultivation they know is maize cultivation. This is their food. They get married in 12/13 years. Become a parent of 8 to 10 children by 25/26 years. All these children do not have any education, medical clothes, even one meal and proper clothing. This is the case for residents within 10 miles of the city. The situation is almost the same for those who live in cities. Government police who work here have to do 24 hours duty. He does not feed himself with the salary he gets. 15 days can be continued if the salary is too much. Because of this, they no longer keep in touch with their wives, children and family members. They do not know whether they are dead or alive. Everyone is busy saving themselves. People use bicycles to transport liquid goods. Those who don't have bicycles walk for miles carrying liquid goods on their heads. A person who owns a bicycle is considered rich. Because he can prepare two meals for himself. You won't believe Burundi until you see it. What is the condition of the people there? You will be surprised to see their habitat. 10/12 living in a mother-in-law house. The house is made of vine leaves. This 20th century humanity is in an era of peace and unity. People can be so careless while on the internet. hard to believe So I appeal to the humanitarians of the world, including the United Nations, to do something for the poor people of Burundi. Remember one thing. No one is permanent in this world. One day everyone has to leave the illusion of this world and go to the Creator. Whoever loves Allah's creation, Allah loves him. So do something for the welfare of humanity so that you can answer the question of Almighty Allah.
