I am amazed to basically just learn there are so many SKS enthusiasts. Of all the ones I own or have, I never ever even thought about or would sell my favorite Russian model apparently marked 1952 I believe. Also I see lots of people seeking the Yugo SKS. Unless only one you can get it’s one of the worst I’ve used. Way out of balance due to the freakin grenade launcher apparatus makes the barrel much heavier than say Russian. I bought a Yugo for $20 bucks about 4 years ago from a friend. Sold it at gun show for almost $500. Couldn’t believe someone would pay that amount. Anyway good to see so many enthusiasts
Thank you for your video. I have a '52 and it has some features of your early version and later rifle. I encourage owners to purchase books on the rifle if they find the history interesting. Cheers
I have a 1954 SKS model. Is it common to have an SKS with both 49 and 55/56 parts on it? This thing had never been shot until now, and by me. It is in emaculate condition. I'm not sure what to make of it.
Just a heads up, the original spike bayonets on the 1949 models was originally blued to my knowledge, so what you have there would be original. In the video, you said that they would have been in the white originally. The early 1950 blade bayonets were blued as well.
actually, factory 49s were produced with black bayonets. and not the same finish as what you refer to as 'bbq' paint tho. They were 4-flute style, with a black metal finish. Nice collection you have there. Good video.
Wow thanks for your time to share your knowledge of these rifles which leads me to ask this... Can I put a firing pin spring kit on my new sks that I'm waiting for?
Letter Д is 1955, letter И is 1956, letter K is 1957. As far as I know there was a very small amount of carbines produced in 1958 as well. but not sure 100percent.
whats your point here? i don't agree with mag-pinning. people who are going to commit crimes with firearms will break firearms laws. and before we go anti gun, they will choose other weapons.

Good video, dont think I have ever seen a 1949 in all the SKS I've come across over the years.

Great video. .. thanks for making it.
Thank you for all the great info....
My sks have mixed characteristics, so I can't tell which one is it 😲

So did you do it?
Yes
Good video i didn't know the 49 had a different firing pin with spring.
49, 50, and earlier 51 rifles had the early type bolt with the return spring.
But we're discontinued because the got hot and lost temper and became brittle and disinagrated ..and caused jam
The K series letter gun is 1957/58 and is the last of the Russian SKS.
If you get a 1949 model is it better to keep the cosmoline on the rifle if you want the price value to stay?
I have a Chinese, I traced the serial #, it said 1956. I have a Yugo I've never traced. Good video.
I would like to know wich trigger group is the best? is there a particular year that is better for someone who will use it for plinking?
Great Vid! Thx for the insight!
I also have a 49. What would you value yours at. Mine is exactly like yours all matching, even the stock. My stock is solid and not laminated.
3:17 that's a 1957 letter series that's what I have

why does canada only allow 5 rounds?

So what is the point ?
Leon ten4
Leon you said " never mind" sport. I've moved on.
Because some Nut Job decided to go and shoot up a bunch of nursing students with an M14 that had full capacity mags one day.
My 52 is a mix of both.
I think the black bayonet is a rebuild weapon
For got to say the 55 is crime lined and the 49 isn't
My dust cover says 1955r, star-with-arrow-inside
Sam Obispo means refurbished
@@Sherman.Richards no, r is a symbol meaning 'year'. 1955year
That star/arrow means it was made in the Tula factory.
