I love your channel and learned a lot from your video. My answer is option 4, I think that is the first thing we need to do, pin the KPI to the dashboard, then set the alert value.
Thank you for the video Ruth. I've always found it interesting that there are multiple DAX expressions that can provide the same results. The answer to your question is number four because alerts can only be configured when there is a single value the breaches a determined threshold. It would be great if there was a way to write DAX inside of the alert settings in the service so alerts can be configured on visuals like line charts and tables.
@@CurbalEN I didn't know that was coming. Super excited to see where that goes. We all love more triggers especially with the power platform tools! Have a wonderful weekend.
Hi Ruth, I love your channel, your content and I learn so mucho every week thanks to you and your amazing videos. Please help me to elucidate this: I understand that a Syntax Sugar is literally the expression but with the exception tha condense a long formula and somtimes intricate, into a single function (in the case of DAX), that allows us to use it in clenaer way, however, for the rest is all the same (in my understaning). In that sense, FIRSTDATE is a table function, on the other hand MINX is a scalar functions, this means that I can use FIRSTDATE in a filter agument in CALCULATE, like this: Balance := CALCULATE ( SUM ( Balance[Balance] ); LASTDATE ( Calendario[Fecha] ) ) Nevertheless I can not use MINX (at least directly) in a filter argument of CALCULATE. I would associate FIRSTDATE more with TOPN like you show us in third example of the video because it returns a table as result, but like you said the Microsoft team use functions and features like TOP1 and BOTTOM1 that we to which we do not have access (This strikes me as fascinating and revealing) Bests.
What a wonderful reflection, thanks for sharing! My answer is the same as yours, it might be that minx is also an internal function and therefore works in "unexpected" ways, that is why it would be wonderful to see this documented in the dax reference. Let's see... /Ruth
3:27 Thinking aloud: If FirstNonBlank is used in a Measure, sounds logical to use Calculate rather than SUM. Perhaps the difference values are related to Calculate (Sum ... vs. SUMX. Can you use FirstNonBlank with SUMX? Gets the same values?

Hi, why we can't hide the filter pane from right side of report when it integated to team. It is happening after new release this month. Also the report is not auto refresh. Please help.
Option 4. We can have alerts on visuals pinned on to the dashboard. Since we want an alert when total customer count reaches 10000 without any filters applied, KPI visual with total customer count works.
Yes Ruth. We review weeks ago a questions regarding DateAdd and SamePeriodLastYear. On this question, easy but it was a trick subject for me when I was studying for the exam. First, how to do it. Second, which visualizations to use. You need to have/create a dashboard and/or pin the visuazalization to a dashboard. From the list suggested, only a KPI allows to create alerts. So, the answer is the #4. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/end-user-alerts

Great Video Ruth.
Did not know there was so much going behind the scenes.
Answer to this question is 4. Pin the KPI to the dashboard.
Agrede, is quite cool to see how it works :)

Great. Very useful and helpful. Like most things, you only value the "long route" when you've got lost on the short route!! Nice to see you so chirpy!

Thanks Ruth! Is there a way to get the formula behind the Syntax Sugar? For example, with DAX Studio maybe?
Not that I know of??

Yes, they promised to deliver advance alerts on the april roadmap, let's see what they do..

Answer to Q28: 4
Alerts can only be set on tiles pinned from report visuals, and only on gauges, KPIs, and cards 🙂

Pin KPI to dashboard. Then will been given alert. When threshold value reachs it gives alert to our mail.
Got it :)

Great video Ruth, really helps to gain a greater understanding of these DAX functions.
(4 btw)
4 functions?
4’s my answer to the question 😀
😂😂 should have guessed it !
Happy Friday:)

Answer to Q28 is 4. (Pin the KPI to dashboard).
Only after that, you can set the alert for your desired limit.
Noted:)
Enjoy your weekend! ☀️☀️☀️☀️-> 4 🍀
You too!! Sunny day waiting ☀️☀️
Great!
You like syntax sugar too?
:)

Answer: 4 - alerts are only available from dashbords
My choice is number 4.
Answer is 4: Pin KPI to dashboard.
Alerts are supported only on KPI, Gauge and Card visuals, so pinning tables or line chart will not work.
