Asus Transformer Prime Video (TF201, TF300, TF700) - Tips and Tutorial #6: Cold Boot

- If you are having troubles with your ASUS Transformer Prime (and lord knows we've all had them), then a cold boot could be in order.
This does a little bit more than a turn off/turn on job. It clears the cache and RAM and it might solve little software niggles.
Follow the instructions carefully: hold the power and volume-down button until the text appears in the top lefthand corner and then don't touch anything if the green android is selected,. That will do the cold boot., If the wipe data button is highlighted, well you're on your on buddy!
look all over and you was the only one that show that is the volume button on the tablet not the one on the key board. Thanks
Hi. My tablet is stuck on the page where the ASUS logo comes up and the we have the little spinning circle and that's it. Its frozen like that. It wont do anything else. HELP!!
The video says hold volume up, the description says hold volume down.
Thanks for the video. I learned something. I had read on a forum page someone was having an issue with their tablet, and someone recommended a cold boot. Found a link that brought me here. Thanks again. It worked on mine, where my screen was kinda glitchy, or would hang. Do you recommend defragmenters for the Asus 300??
My issue is it was glitching like flickering and then when I got to the reset part because my touch screen doesn't always work I am stuck at that part so what should I do anything I press to enter the reboting power botton gived me no command
mine it was fine but the touch wasn't working I usually restart it and sometimes it works fine but today after restarting it twice and then plugging it to the charger it won't turn and I tried to press the power button on along with the volume button I still have it on charger and it is a bit warm towarrds the power button so hope it is only recharging if you have any idea why it did that please tell me thank you

Hi there i have the tf101, i had my tablet fixed because the WiFi and volume wasn't working properly, they are both fixed now by asus themselves every since i got my tablet back the screen freezes randomly now and again, i have tried a wipe and cold boot but i doesn't fix it, any ideas?
It worked great! my prob was mine wouldnt turn on period.....tried your suggestion an it worked easy...mine came right on(booted right up)...thanks so much for saving me time an money!

I was using mine last night to watch a show on netflix and I fell asleep without turning it off , now it won't turn on and I tried your reboot technique and it still won't turn on , what should I do ?
Well these are pretty old devices now. Might need to get it checked out by a repair store.
Take the back cover off unplug the battery then charge it it fixed mine

Hi my Tf201`s touchscreen in not responding at all. Have tried to wipe the data and done a hard reset but still it wount work? Any idea how to fix it?
I have the same exact kind of tablet but the problem idk what it is. My tablet keeps rebooting by itself, turning off/on. idk what to do. It doesn't even let me factory reset it because it shuts down IMMEDIATELY... I even tried to manually shut it down but it was taking so loooong to shut down that it rebooted. After it finishes rebooting it stays on for 5 seconds then turns off again..... over and over till the battery ALL drains out. PLEASE HELP!

I have asus transformer prime tf201. It was working fine after i rooted and then i got the 4 icons on recovery for e.g RCK, Android, USB and Wipe Data. I clicked Wipe Data, but now the asus boots up only with the Asus Screen Logo olnly. None of the volume up or volume down butteon does anything. Appreciate any help. Thanks
Mat Dsouza If you've rooted it you're beyond any help I can offer. Check out the XDA forums. There is a dedicated Transformer Prime forum where someone might be able to help you.

Hey just need to to say that i love your videos, i will buy a prime this weekend and needed to ask, what´s the name of your wallpaper its awesome?!!!!xD
I also forgot to mention, in your video, when you did the boot, it had 2 icons on your screen. When I did mine, there were 4. There was the android icon, a USB icon, wipe data icon, and an icon that said, "RCK". I have no idea what RCK meant.

I know this is an older video, but I have one of those tablets and the thing gets stuck at the blue screen when I boot it up. I have tried too reinstall windows, restore defaults, everything known to mankind and can't get it too come on. I spent too much on this damn thing to throw it away. Or give to someone and have them fix it and use it for free. So could someone please help me with it.
If you're talking about Windows this is an Android version of the tablet so whatever I might be able to suggested wouldn't be relevant.

Mariam Mozham If it won't turn on it sounds pretty broken to me I'm afraid. Plug it into the mains, hold the power button for 30 seconds. If it's still not turning on, I think it's had it.
***** i just got it two weeks ago how could it be broken? it was working fine yesterday and i charged it for a while than the next morning it would not turn on
You got a brand new Transformer Prime two weeks ago? Its been out for 2 years. Return it if you haven't had it long. There must be something wrong with the battery or operating system.

I've got a prime and am trying to do two things on it.
1) trying to get it to kind of wireless remote access my Macbook so it can open video files that are saved on my macbook on the tablet. Not sure if this is possible, even if they both are wireless using the same router.
So it won't wipe my data?

Then it sounds like it's completely broken. These tablets are four years old now.
LOL Yeah, Theres no such thing as "Completely broken". Something is keeping it from working, it could be the screen, the circuit, ect. But it most likely needs a Battery replacement, Arianna. They arent terribly expensive, and very much so worth the try. Just make sure you get the EXACT model battery, as the tablet that you have. Like wow, I am in complete shock that someone with a growing TH-cam channel would say anything like that. Anyways, Arriana, look up another video for the battery replacement, and if it doesnt work, buy a new one or take it too the electronic store.
