Man my 91 yj has no rust spots anywhere. I freakin love this thing. A little money in it and it goes a long way. It’s outlasted 3 other cars in our driveway and has been the only reliable vehicle

Good looking Jeep. It is what it is and it’s not for everybody. I bought my fifth one for $3000 and drive it everyday 40 miles getting 20mpg. Got 250k miles on it and I will probably get another 50k before an engine rebuild that will take two weeks because it’s easy and cheap to work on.

I hate a Wrangler. It's a 1990 2.5. I've removed, refurbished, replaced, poked and prodded nearly every component under the hood and it still won't run correctly
Grant it, leaf springs are rough especially on a short wheel base. Older Jeeps require a lot of tlc, which only Jeep folks are willing to do because of their amazing pros they offer. I have an '05 TJ Rocky Mtn with the 4.0 I6. Of course, the coil springs are light years ahead on the TJ and even better with Fox 2.0 Shox and their steering stabilizer. I kept it close to stock with a modest 2" lift and 32" ko2's. However, it can still be a rough ride for some. I love my TJ, but I'll admit it's definitely a love hate relationship. But there's nothing else that you can take on the beach with the doors and top off for the most enjoyable experience in any other vehicle. Beach wheelin, surf fishing and beach camping with the wife and kids in a Willys MB, CJ-7, CJ-8 Scrambler, YJ or TJ is about as good as it gets in the summer! This is why my TJ will always be my favorite vehicle! Life is too short, count your blessings, not your problems. Be well. 😎🎣🏖🌊🏝
I can't imagine complaining about the ride on 3-4 leaf springs. My restored '60 CJ5 came from the factory with 11 and 14 leaf springs on the front and rear. Not a vehicle for hemorrhoid sufferers.

I had an AMC model wrangler 1987. It drove better than some of the current models and had more room in drivers seat. AMCs quality was better. And mine had good power . Chrysler ruined the Jeep and now the Italians own it forget any Chrysler products
I had a super nice built 99 XJ I would always get waves from all the wrangler guys that was back in 2014-2018, fast forward to 2023 I have a 97 now just not as built yet and nobody waves anymore
I have owned my '91 YJ for around 25 years. It is simple and cheap to own & maintain. If yours is leaking oil, the 4.0L in a YJ is one of the easiest engines to change seals & gaskets on. Mine doesn't leak any oil because I maintain it. Just like any other vehicle. If you want yours to have better road manners, go back to stock wheels and lose that body lift. Mine rode fine with its original suspension and 30x9.50R15 BFG mud terrains. Just make sure all bushings, ball joints, and the tie rod ends are in good shape. Mine rides slightly better than stock now with a Rubicon Express 2.5" lift and either the 31x10.50R15 BFG Mud Terrains on stock TJ 15x8" (Ravine) wheels. As well as 245/75R16 A/T's on stock TJ 16x8 (Moab) wheels. The track bars are removed front and rear. The front sway bar has quick disconnects. Currently running 3.55 gears with a XJ Dana-44 rear and a non-CAD Dana-30 front. If you aren't liking your YJ, you would have no issues selling it to buy something you do enjoy. Drive what you like. You don't need a reason to buy a Jeep. But apparently you need a lot of 'em to NOT buy one. For myself, I just couldn't get past the fact that I just wanted a Jeep. That was in 1987 when I bought my first Jeep--a 1986 CJ-7 Renegade. I have since owned a YJ, an 02 TJ and currently an 06 TJ. I just love 'em and that's all there is to it.
Those are the greatest attributes of the YJ! That was like watching a YJ commercial from 1987! Great job! I have an 87 YJ, why? Because its the first year of the Legendary Jeep YJ, before they started making "upgrades", like stronger axles, fuel injection, and heaters that work.

I have a YJ now and ill wave to anyone that has a gnarly looking lifted offroad vehicle. Yes Toyotas too. The jeep wave is really only the wrangler wave.
I wouldn't go looking for a jeep expecting something quiet & comfy with a lot of interior amenities, plus the issues you have with the engine ticking and leaking oil are due to a lack of maintenance, and you can't blame the car for that. The rust issues are with literally any car from the 80s/90s. My 91 YJ drove great when I had it on stock springs and suspension, very nice go-kart feel. Plus, if you don't like the soft top, maybe get a hard top.

You have to buy performance parts and replacement parts becuse the stock parts are garbage. And after you spend more on tarting it up than you paid for it, you drive it only to be seen...driving it.
Good satire! Your video makes me realize why I bought my Jeeps. (I currently have 3 different versions of the Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK(4 door), and I love them). Wranglers are not perfect, they're just fun, agreed, not long trips. The early Wranglers are easy to work on with lots of "aftermarket" parts available ( a good thing since the Jeep dealers don't have a clue on the older model Jeeps. The Dealers don't carry parts after 20 years of a model release). I do all my own maintenance and minor repairs. I also have a Toyota Tacoma that is a smooth ride and well engineered vehicle, the Toyota is great for long trips. The Jeep is a fair weather knockaround and short errands vehicle. Carry On, Look forward to seeing you repair your Jeep YJ or might want to get a TJ and compare and contrast the two.
Square headlights are a much meaner look! Compared to what Jeep does today, she is much nicer looking than the round light grills we see now. I get compliments all the time, especially now that we're seeing fewer and fewer YJ's on the road.
I've had a 2.5L 5-Speed 1995 Rio Grande edition since 2007 currently has 306,000 miles, has never broken down, maintenance is easy a/c does not work. This guy doesn't get it, but he reminded me of why I love my rough, loud, and slow 89 YJ so much!
It's all preference. The things you don't like is exactly what i like. I have the 2.5. i road trip it on the interstate regularly no problem. Slow but reliable. Well I'll take reliable over fast any day. Comfort i bought a rough country 2.5 inch lift and removed the track bars. Not a Cadillac but much more comfortable. It does drive like a tractor and shift like a dump truck but it is always ready to take whatever i throw at it. The square headlights can be purchased anywhere so i really love the availability. I have full doors not half ones so that's nice. It's extremely easy to work on and find parts for. I'm not sure what you expected from a vehicle that last rolled off the assembly line in 1995. I hope this is satire because you have a pretty nice example of an old yj. The ducks were started during COVID lockdowns. Just a way to make others smile in a rough time.
Great video so true only 85 and older jeep owners can understand yes 85 even though amc didn't quit till 86 it had too much emission upgrade but yes I know what your talking about we always called the wranglers barbie jeeps

And while on the topic...only stupid people buy a dirt bike when there are honda gold wings, only morons buy a corvette with its harsh ride when there are cadillacs, only idiots would ride a pedal road bike with that small hard seat when uber is so much more comfy, I could go on but why? This guy doesn't get it, but he reminded me of why I love my rough, loud, and slow 89 YJ so much!
Leaf under axle helps with axle wrap
What is your take on the 1997 Jeep? Asking as I'm considering buying one with a hard top.
“I hate this thing! It’s the worst!” Like 4 minutes later…. “WEEEEEE!” Hahah that says it all bud!
Everything he pointed out in the video is every reason I love my Yj 💀
Exactly!!! All the reasons to hate a Jeep is why I love mine!!! Especially because it doesn't have a heated steering wheel! 😂
Are you human? Just asking for a friend? Can you imagine having dinner with this guy?
You should've mentioned the body lift...that's pretty stupid too 😀
😂 sounds like he needs to go buy a luxury Lexus
I remember back in the 90s these jeeps used to only cost around 13 or 14k new
Wow
Plug 13k into an inflation calculator, and you get about $30,000, which is around what a base model Wrangler costs today.
Great video so true only 85 and older jeep owners can understand yes 85 even though amc didn't quit till 86 it had too much emission upgrade but yes I know what your talking about we always called the wranglers barbie jeeps
I'll buy it if you hate it
we know: you're a Yugo fan! 😂 that was hilarious, dud!! 😝
This is the worst car I've driven so far. But I don't consider it as a car. It's a toy. .
Sounds like a modest proposal!
The 258 4.2 was awesome, I had one and u can’t kill them! Wish i could have that in my TJ or even my jk
Go buy a Bronco with lumbar seats and a screen full of apps because you know nothing about Jeeps. I have had several and ran them to about 190,000 mile before issues.
He probably lost a bet and his Toyota buddies made him do this 😂😂😂😂
Yeah run for ever
Dude said it doesn’t have a heated steering wheel 🤦🏼♂️ no shit
Dong worry bois he is just a spoiled boi that's all
My Jeep don't have rust. You must live up north.
The square headlights are fine. The sway bars are useless. You took your life into your own hands letting go of the steering wheel. My BDS suspension lift rides 1,000 times better than stock. Overall good video.
Thanks.. ya I’m sure anything would be an improvement on the suspension lol
@@brokenpoortradingco I meant track bars. Also I used boomerang shackles installed correctly and 1" poly body pucks and it doesn't ride like a chariot. I have a buddy with a rough country and 2" plastic puck body lift and that thing is utterly terrible.
@@millerguy79what poly pucks did you get?
@@zacharywills6679 I don't remember.
Bro the YJ series Jeep was designed for real MEN.......... A real man would buy a model like the one shown and modify it to make it his own......... A real man would put a lft kit on it and get rid of the stock springs..... A real man would not care about a softie luxury interior for it was a JEEP. that had a plug in the floorboard in case it flooded,,...Please find a good home for this YJ to be altered for the Jeep it was meant to be...... I am sure there is plenty of SOFTIE, :UXURIOUS, and SMOOTHE RIDING Suv looking for a good home..... Don't worry they will all have Air-bags.
Well, I like my 92 Wrangler that I have owned and driven pretty much daily since 97. If I wanted comfort and flashy I would have bought a nice car. Well, thanks for your opinion, that's 6:06 I will never get back.
He was yappin up until 4:33. Then he started to COOK
So I had CJ7 when I was 20 years old. There’s was things I didn’t like about it but 30 years later it’s the most missed vehicle I owned. So I bought another one at 49. Guess it’s like people who like motorcycles. I don’t know. The duck 🦆 thing is strange I think. I like the 304 V8 also. Do some modifications and make it your own. That’s also what i love about them.
funny, ive got 2 of these, love the bare bones aspect, i hose mine out at the end of the day no worries about shorting stuff out.
Yours is pretty noisy sounds like it needs new lifters.
It's for a man! This guy sounds like a Tesla owner.
Square headlights????? Where do you see SQUARE headlights? Get your eyes checked.
They're RECTANGULAR not Square.....
Ive got a 2012 JKU, 1992 YJ, 1950 CJ-3A...
My favorite is the YJ with 2.5 lift on 31's with the 2.5L. It's a true rusty but trusty with 200k+ with no leaks.
It is a jeep thing and the only thing I picture is this cucklemuffin getting into some honduh hybrid or some shyt 😅
Little hint for YJ's... remove the trac bars.
