"This is the best game in the world, the most popular game in the world for a reason. No kid should have to pay to play." Love this guy's message and as a Timber's fan, Philly is rapidly becoming my favorite MLS team. Get this guy the head USMNT head coaching gig asap.

Obviously an intelligent, excellent coach, and he's right-- the US is rising rapidly. The truth is that our best athletes don't play ANY American professional sport. The reason is that football and basketball require enormous size and height to play, which dramatically limits the pool of potential players. Even baseball players are relatively large and strong. But soccer players are in the dead center of the population in terms of height and size, which means there is an enormous and neglected pool to pick from. Messi, the greatest soccer player in history, could never have played professional football or basketball due to his size. How many like him are out there, unknown and undeveloped?

The problem isn’t the talent… the problem is that the USSF is incompetent enough to lose their prospect pool

@@jonathonedwardmillerhehehe. It is logical that y'all won't go anywhere in football if the execs in your federation are the ones who bend the knee to Rapinoe and of course the other reason is the nepotism. And yeah nepotism kill the meritocracy and eventually kill the chance to have a great achievement

When do you think the U.S. will produce a top 10 player in the World? 🌎🇺🇸⚽

      Mmm 🤔
Maybe 8 years after first Messimania’s MLS season.
(I think of some 6-9 year olds who are experiencing football as a fun game to play with friends who can see Messi having *that* kind of touch on the ball every day on tv.)
But: Having a top 10 player in the world is unpredictable. A tradition helps, but that kind of talent could disappear just as easily as it can manifest.
How many years had Argentina been waiting for a new Maradona before Messi arrived?
(Don't get me wrong, they've had wonderful players over the years [Veron, Riquelme, Ortega, Aimar]...but nothing like the "Pibe de Oro".)
Or look at Italy: 4 times World Cup winners who had Cassano as their latest talented number 10 (after 20 years of Mancini, Baggio, Zola, Del Piero, Totti...). Italy missed the last 2 World Cups.
Or: England have just re-established themselves as a footballing power… 20 years after the Beckham’s generation!

@@mrefis9705 but will they play FOR the US? I see the us as a country that will produce a ton of talent but none of that serious talent will play for the US. They won’t control their prospect pool. Argentinas already announced a facility to recruit their Argentinian/US dual nats. USSF still has zero facilities inside the US

Jim has a future ahead in Europe, if he wants. We need a well versed American manager in the way Europe plays and how they adjust mid game. GGG is about as lost as you can get. 100% agree, it all starts at youth development. 10-20 years ago, soccer was a sport for the wealthy. That’s now changing. Finally.

When you start getting the kids that are going to alabama, lsu, clemson and convince them to start playing soccer at a young age instead of football or basketball when none of their other friends are playing it then well be unstoppable

I think Jim is the best choice for your NT. Yet the federation smoke something and decide to rehire Berhalter. I mean, being world class is a long way to go. But having execs in your federation who bend the knee to Rapinoe will make your dream to become world class football NT almost impossible

I've yet to hear from a top soccer coach who doesn't speak well with endless enthusiasm. I find that extremely inauthentic. Then there's The classic, "...in 20 years" chat. Get ripped. The land of opportunity cannot RELEGATE themselves even to the reality of Contest. Their best players relegate teams or are benched.
The future of US will never happen. It won't unite (because of the hustle) It won't make the right sacrifices for the sake of the contest (No relegation, Nobody willing to establish second tier soccer league or get points relegated (because of the hustle).
We have a situation where nobody loves or respects the sport, the contest of sport, or what kids need, unless the hustle says yes. Btw Accountants are scrawny for a reason.

I see the us producing the talent to be a respected football nation around the world. The question is where will that elite talent play? I don’t think the USSF cares enough to control their own prospect pool. Some of the best players in the pool are dual nats

  • @gandalfgreyhame3425
    @gandalfgreyhame3425 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Not a chance in the world - as long as MLS continue to lack the intensity brought on by promotion/relegation, it will always play a soft undemanding marshmellow brand of soccer suitable for its reputation as a Retirement League. And the fact that MLS has essentially infected the USSF and USMNT like the cordyceps fungus, parasiting the staff and coaches and turning them into obedient zombie ants, means that Euro-based players will always suffer in favor of MLS Lifers when it comes time to pick the World Cup roster.
I can guarantee you now that the 2026 UWMNT roster will for sure feature AT LEAST 9 if not MORE MLS players on its roster. And as long as that is true, the USMNT is not going to do better than getting out of group and going out on its first knockout match.
