Hi 3g4g, glad I found this channel. I have a *big* question -
In the "5G Today" section, you mentioned that today *the EPC will serve both LTE through eNB and 5G-NR through gNB.* And in "5G in Future" part, you said *the 5GC will serve the NG-eNB and gNB in future.*
So my question is, in recent 5G rollouts, the current LTE core EPC (MME + S-GW) will be in charge of both LTE and 5G? There is no need for deploying new core network for 5G? only current EPC will do?
and in future rollouts, the 5GC (AMF + UPF) will serve both LTE and 5G, with NG-eNB for serving LTE in their cells and gNB will serve 5G in theirs? Does it mean the current EPC (MME + S-GW) will be obsolete or redundant? Both RATs, LTE and 5G will coexist with only one core network? Like in 2G/3G?
Thanks again for your video :)

Yes, that is correct. Eventually, this will happen. You should also watch our Network Architecture Options video: th-cam.com/video/LjwERTeD81o/w-d-xo.html

According to President Trump, this is "6G" :P Thanks for the upload! Hey, btw 3G4G is true 100% 5G only "Cloud deployable"? Meaning to maximize it's full features, does it require a full 100% cloud environment for standalone 5G?

Regarding 6G, 😉. Regarding Cloud, Yes and No. Cloud is a very loosely used term and can mean many different things. 5G will have virtualized architecture with many different NFVs and they will be in a cloud, which would mean a data center, either an operator (private) one or something like AWS (public) one. We would be very surprised if someone will use the public cloud in the next few years. This transition will take place in long term though.

Also... is the RAN network (NG-RAN in this case) , apart of the Air Interface (NR radio) ?

NG-RAN = New Radio (NR) + Old Radio (LTE / E-UTRAN) and the air interface is between NG-RAN and the User Equipment (UE).

gNodeB OR gNB is new radio access network providing NR User plane and Control Plane protocol termination towards UE.
