- Sweepy can mop up liquid. Magma is a liquid... So as it turns out Sweepy can mop up a volcano when made of the correct stuff! In This Oxygen Not Included Experiment I explore this ideas and turn it into a power station.

I find it sad that eventually Sweepie wont have that little "glitch" of constant temperature output. But I just honestly want that DLC coming out this summer. Is all i can dream about.

Technically it’s lava bc magma is in the Earth’s crust, and lava is magma that has been erupted out of a volcano. (I’m pretty sure at least.)

Well TECHNICALLY it still is inside of the asteroid.

using the Tools not included seed browser there are lots of cool maps you can find using filters ranging from maps with no geysers/vents of water of any sort to maps with no oil to maps where 80% of the map is oil.
I'm sure you have tons of stuff already planed but this is just some cool stuff I found that you can feel free to use!

I don't think I ever realized just how ridiculous magma volcanoes were than the others, putting out _one thousand times the mass_ of the metal volcanoes.
It's kind of ridiculous that Sweepy may actually the most effective of the early-mid game options for renewable igneous rock.

@13:09 you don't have to jump over the heavy watt joint plates with conductive wire bridges. the joint plate acts like a bridge and you can pass regular wires through them without circuits being joined.
Honestly, your best bet to squeeze every last bit of power out of that system is to have either an aquatuner or the AC unit run conductive vents through a cup of metal tiles and a small amount of crude oil, and just use that to pump the heat back into the system. Or just have a third, low efficiency sweep system that does the same as stage 2, but everything dumps onto the metal tiles and only leaves at 120 degrees, then use the AC or aquatuner powered by stage 3 to leave it nice and cool for use elsewhere. I'll give it a try, it's been a while since I've booted up this game.
You can do a lot of this in a total vacuum with a regolith melter setup(for MORE power). If you drop something like under 1.4kg of magma on top of a heat exchange with 2 mesh tiles will make it spit out igneous at around 1400c to one of the sides of the heat exchange. Seen the 2 mesh corner trick from Francis John, though he didn't use it in the setup of a regolith melter.
Can you at some point make a tungsten refinery with rockets? Thought it would be epic to do while also making a cheaper alternative to steel. Since rockets output heat during launch and land, I thought it would be perfect to buildup heat in a diamond box to melt abysalite into tungsten.
PRO TIP: When exchanging temperature with conveyor rails. For some reason any amount on the conveyor rail less than 20kg (i.e. the max load) will exchange temperature much slower. So you want a backlog system so that it is always 20kg going into every packet, otherwise you will not be able to exchange temperature efficiently enough

If you put a mesh tile next to the magma sweepy he will deliver faster because the sweepy will be confined in a smaller space and the magma can be swept up in front of the dock.
Also you can put a counterflow whith gas and liquid on the igneus rail to extract more power.
I think a counterflow with just a reservoir can handle all of the heat, maybe hydrogen and petroleum for withstanding the heat.

Hi Brothgar, been a fan of your work for sometime now. Keep up the good work. Just a suggestion, in this volcano tamer where you bottle emptier drops the magma, if we build a mirror image of the steam turbines, metal tiles to the left of it would it work better in limiting the overheating of the turbines. You would have 2x the turbines working.
You could still have the sweepy on the right if you moved the dock over a bit more to have the autosweeper grab from the left of it instead of the right of it, exactly like you have setup on the left of the volcano, the bot on the right would just have a bit further to travel, which shouldn't matter as magma would still reach all the way to it.
Or, at 6:39, if he moved everything except the dock that was on the right of the wall to the right by one, the left auto sweeper would reach the dock.
The fact that plastic bottles can live up to magmatic conditions.
... Just drop the hot igneous rock on top of the dock itself, use a sweeper through solid material to pick up on the other side, Sweepy will take care of the igneous rock, and deposit it back into the dock from the rail drop-off. Walls would be enough to have the dock contained in a 2x2 square. Basically, copy what you did with the Sweepy up on the magma side, but with rail drop-off's... and the drop-off HAS to be on TOP of the Sweepy Dock to the UPPER-RIGHT CORNER of the Dock.
This looks so overcomplicated, i'd just make a long chambre with tempshift plates, until heat from everything makes igneous rock turn down to 200 or less once it exits the chamber, have sweepy delete the reste and make a loop for cooling turbines. Although roughly looking at it, and the number a turbines a volcano of that size outputs, it woudnt be quite enough to cool everything. But it just might be close.
if you build the steamturbines around the shaft where the lava falls you can get more out of it. Now you have your second turbine not working at a 100%. I guess you have enough heat to put double turbines on both sides anyway.

You could have added more water to the first chamber to give it a bigger buffer of thermal mass which would reduce the need for additional automation
In order for a steam turbine to self cool, you have to keep the steam temperature very cool, around 139 degrees. Any more and the heat waste in the turbine room will be too high for self cooling.
That's a lot of igneous byproduct. I was thinking that you could have three exports: Hatches(food), Sand(either rock crusher or super heating), and Sand for Glass Forges. I've been playing a lot of Satisfactory and it would be a good merging of the two game's ideology.

Having auto-sweepers being able to move bottles change a lot of things, I might use that mod for a while =)

The sweepy temperature reset is a known bug that is being fixed

Great video! I just have 1 thing, you don’t need those conductive bridges on the joint plates. You should just be able to run the conductive wire through the plates and have it work. (I saw it on the ONI reddit so feel free to correct me)

I'm pretty sure the sweepy temp output is the same temp of the dock, otherwise your magma would be 20c, cool the dock and try it out.
Isn't it just another one of those calculating short cuts the game takes, like when you drop a chunk on top of another and it just becoming the temperature that the chunk it dropped onto.
So instead of the dock acting like a liquid reservoir where it averages the temperature, it just sets it to the the temp of whatever already was in it? But that's mostly just an assumption, of where it could happen consistently yet not always.

I really hope they will change the way Sweepy is sweeping :D Its too difficult to set a "USEFULL" place to work, or build ten of them, but actually...do you want supply all that power, just for sweeping. If it would have a set temp at least, it would be more usefull. Sad it cannot use ladders or the Tubes and be more efficient.

If its a metal volcano, can you ship the metal to the power stations as material, or will they/the steam turbine room overheat from them?

So if it is liquid the heat is not deleted in the sweepy dock? So, is the sweepy dock even suposed to delete heat at all, or is it just a bug that will be removed? Would be sad, because we really don't have much in the game to delet heat.

Hi Brothgar, first love your kind of videos for ONI. I´ve a problem to this video. the autosweeper dont get the magma from the sweepy to the bottleemptier. Iam sure I did the same building as you did.
same distancing, same space between the tills. it do not work. automation to the autosweeper is conected by 170degree C. the autosweeper dont move. And no mod for the autosweeper is installed.

haha OMG I love that, your best invention for ages! Glad I'm not the only TH-camr who uses power stations with Steam Turbines! Refined Aluminium would be better than gold or diamond for your conveyor cooler, higher conductivity and heat capacity. Also you can run the final igneous rock through a heat exchanger with the turbine output wastes water at 1kg a second and then the turbine coolant to cool it down a little more. Not a fan of mod specific setup, id rather you stick to vanilla only. Still a like from me, cos you deserve it.
I watched a whole video on a modded game I thought was vanilla. Disclaimer you can’t get the magma out of a vanilla sweepy dock. Disappointing 🙁
