Kenya and Uganda agree to install more scanners at Busia border

Kenya and Uganda have agreed to increase the number of scanners at the malaba border point and expand the road network, among other measures to decongest the border point.
Transport Minister Kipchumba Murkomen and his counterpart Ecweru Musa Francis also resolved to look into bureaucracies that impede movement of cargo via the Metre Gauge Railway linking the Port of Mombasa with Kampala and other States along the corridor.
The move followed a heavy traffic jam at the Malaba Border and comes nearly two weeks after truckers went on strike, blocking the Malaba Border point over delays in clearance.
