How interesting to see Wigtown Parish Church again. My father was a former Minister there. He once wrote an article about the Wigtown Martyrs. I lived in Harbour Road. Since then, the Harbour has been dredged. It was silted up and unused in my time in Wigtown. The Railway Station was closed down back then and all the lines removed. The steam trains used to travel back and forth not far from our back garden. Memories. Well done for taking us on this great tour

Gatehouse of Fleet is quieter since the A75 bypass was opened. I remember when all the traffic had to go through the centre of it and the other towns on the route. I am thoroughly enjoying your road trip

Very nice walk through some very scenic and history backstory of the area. I concur that the time periods mentioned were not a particularly good time for religious freedom but it truly developed the way we live today and we should not forget it. Thank You!

You are correct Max, right or wrong the past is what made us all today and we cannot change any of it, I just enjoy a bit of history, it adds flavour to any travels !

That was a thoroughly interesting guided tour, conducted on a beautiful day in a peaceful, scenic part of the country. It's hard to imagine that such ghoulish things happened against such a lovely backdrop, but the history lesson was genuinely fascinating. Thanks for sharing your holiday with us.

    Dear Old Nut
I am thoroughly enjoying vicariously your travels. Living in Canada , I miss the old country for its highways and biways.I have seen most of this globe but still have a special place in my heart for the long walks I did in GB.
Keep moving on and enjoying life. What is your first name? Mine is Alan,
    Best regards.
    Alan

Hi Steve, I believe the park ups have re-opened as restrictions have now eased a bit. I was hoping for some Continental travel but it is looking unlikely at the moment !
