Louis. That generation of my family is gone now. I only got the pleasure of hearing him play in person once in my life. I picked up a cheap student violin when I was in my mid 20's just to try it out. During that time Louis made a trip to visit his sister, my grandmother, and I brought the violin to her house. After some major tweaking he had great music coming out of it. Have been in awe of him since. He was quite a character.
Lou Ott was a very brilliant and talented musician. Some of Franz's best arrangements were Lou's work. His improvisational skills were that of true genius. All who knew him miss his off beat humor which could turn a bad moment into laughter and amusement.
