Long term review/thoughts here. Purchased in December 2017 for $298. In that time it has been used in two properties - both around 1400sqft. Seen daily use for the duration of my ownership. Very little maintenance. 1) The motor works fine. Suction is solid on carpet and hardwood. The battery life on a full charge is around 30 minutes. If you have a larger property than mine do no expect to vacuum the whole place on a single charge. I typically vacuum the basement and ground floor before it dies on me. 2) The battery itself has a lifespan of about 2 years. I replaced it once already, and I'm debating replacing it again (it's not holding a charge well atm). As an fyi these OEM batteries are $95 from Dyson - if you want to play Russian roulette with the Chinese knockoffs on Amazon, have at it though (sets tou back $30-50). Unless you vacuum once a week or less you're not getting much more life out of them. 3) overall build quality seems solid. Reddit seems to bash Dyson's plastic material, but I have dropped the shit outta this thing and its held up. This is not a buy-it-for-life machine but its served me well. 4) brush roller will need to be replaced. I just replaced the entire motorhead ($50'ish direct from Dyson). The new motorhead includes (obviously) the brush, but it comes with new felt strips, new wheels, and the rollers that are on the main shaft. A 3rd party brush replacement can be around $30 so I figured id just replace the motorhead. 4) For transparency I am moving to a canister vacuum (probably a Miele). Cordless vacuums require new batteries which will never be cheap, plus I want to move toward a buy-it-once brand (Dyson is not unfortunately). Also I need to be able to vacuum my entire home on one go, so theres that.
I've had a Dyson DC59 for over 3 years now (basically the predecessor to the V6 and V7 with the same basic chassis), and I have to agree with this review. On carpet it's super effective even on low power, but on my hard kitchen floor it's almost useless - I tend to just stick one of the brush attachments to the end of the hose instead. The lack of HEPA is annoying too, as it can produce bad smells that better filters would normally trap. For how relatively little I paid for it though, it's served me so well, and I've never felt I'm missing anything by not having a proper corded vacuum. Will certainly be sticking to Dyson for now!
I'm not sure the HEPA filter would help with bad smells. Only carbon filters can trap them. I had vacuums with HEPA filters and smells were visible after short time.
I’ve had the v7 motorhead for over a year now. I purchased it on eBay, direct from Dyson refurbished. Came to me like new for $150. Best purchase ever!
It’s great! Beat up cosmetically for sure. The battery may not last as long as it did but it’s great for small jobs still. I have since passed it to my mom and last month purchased a refurbished v11 animal +. When it arrived, I noticed the battery was floating in and out of the handle, causing the unit to not cut on and/or stay on even when the trigger was released. I called dyson and they had a new motor head sent out to me within a week free of charge as they still come with a warranty. It’s the best vacuum I have ever owned, hands down. Highly recommend going refurb!
I've had my V6 Slim for 5 years now and it's still going strong! Plus it's very easy to take all the way apart and wash the bin/cyclone head. I love it!
You do the best vacuum reviews. We had this V7 MH but had to return it after a few weeks due to “pulsing” issues. Pulling the trigger resulted in a motor that pulsed on and off and didn’t remain on. Cleaned and dried the filter thoroughly multiple times but the issue remained. Thanks for the videos
That’s how I got mine, lol. Someone thought theirs was broken because of the pulsing issue you described. They threw it away and I got it for free. It’s just the pre filter needed replaced.
I just replaced my old V6 with V7 this month and I think it is worth if you have V6 previously like me :) It is much more quiet, easier to empty and works longer. Also, it's bin is bigger and brushbar has more power and no tangle itself as easy with longer hairs as old one. Can be pushed on area rug with no effort. Motor does not heat itself as the old one. I prefer V7 over V6 ;)
This is the vacuum we have at work for quick cleanups as needed before the cleaning crew is there. One thing that really surprised me is just how quite it is compared to my V6 animal model.. Oh and never use this vacuum to clean up printer toner. Toner particles are so fine that they finds there way through the filtration straight out of the exhaust vents in the back.
I have a V7 and a V11. I think of my V11 as my more formal vacuum for cleaning, and the V7 as my portable vacuum because it is just so much lighter for quick spot cleans.
V7 is the Dyson what I would love to own. V11 and especially V11 Outsize is just ridiculous. Way too heavy for a stick vacuum. V7 is much better balanced.
I just bought a new V7--finally justifying the price because of failing health and needing something easier to maneuver and lighter overall--and it is SO worth every penny.
Can you recharge the battery with 220v wall-socket with no problem or will it burn up the battery? I’m thinking to buy one but I’m so worried as the price tag is too expensive and I may not get what I buy for Do you recommend me buying one ?
Orlando Ch they all break. Luckily for me I keep buying the geek squad warranty. I recently found out the Dyson warranty is also good after my V11 Dyson broke after 2 months.
I have a German Shepard which is the ultimate TEST for ANY vacuum saying that. After you review on the shark apex. I decided to buy the vacuum that it only last 5 months till the brush belt broke! I hate the vacuum hose extension (useless) And to replace the belt. can’t find that replacement part! When it work is good, I like the rubber brushes it really pick up the dog hair. You doing a great job in reviewing the vacuum. Bu you should get a German Shepard so you can really put those vacuum to the real world! Just a humble comment Keep the great work
As someone who has to vacuum long human hair and therefore cut said long human hair off of the brushroll I feel your pain. Have you found a new vacuum that works?
I own a Dyson V7 animal for 12 months now. Very impressed by it’s performance. It’s a ‘life saver’ on my fabric couch, which was a bit of a miss-buy, cause it is a hair magnet on my dogs and cat (hence the purchase of the V7 animal in the first place, recommended by a friend). The V7 animal comes with a mini-turbo brush, which on high speed cleans the couch perfectly. I use some seperate carpets on my couch where the dogs can sleep on, which can be cleaned on the low setting. I have 1 perticular door mat which is always filled with hair and other filth, which our normal vacuum cleaner couldn’t handle. When I use the V7, with the floor turbo-brush on high speed, it cleans very good: as if it is a new door mat all together. The battery isn’t sufficient to clean the whole house at once. I always swipe the hard floors, so I can pick up the dust, hairs etc, with the V7. Currently I am saving up to buy the V11 absolute. A big pro for me, is the fact that it is cordless. I always hated vacuuming because of the cord which is a drag to work with.
Oh, and a bit of a con: within the year the brush in the mini-turbo brush is completely worn out. But Dyson has great service. I sended them an e-mail requesting a new brush. They sended me a new turbo brush all together (wonder why they don’t just send the brush-thing itself), without cost or shipping fee.
Oh can’t wait to get my Dyson V8 even tho I have an upright one but it’s heavy when I vacuum the stairs so the Dyson cordless one will make my life more easy
I was very sceptical about a cordless vacuum in general, but the V7 convinced me and my wife entirely on its performance. Its run time is certainly sufficient to clean our semi.
We've had our V7 for a long time. The battery life is absolutely awful and it has only a couple attachments. We switched to the Tineco S12+ and we are in love with the damn thing. Thanks to you we got what we think is the best vacuum for our house for the price!
Oh wow, I didn't expect a test of the old Dyson V7. Unexpected, but welcome. Two questions though: How loud does the V7 get (especially on 'normal' low power)? Will you do a comparison video for all current Dysons when you're through with all the models currently on the market?
I am very surprised that this v7 got a 100% score on the deep clean test compared to the v8. The v8 has more suction in max than the v7. It goes go to show that suction is not the way to deep clean. As most people seem to think.
Hey there is no video on the internet of people comparing the cinetuc ball with the v series, i am trying to make a choice between those. Will you make a comparison? Couldnt find any cinetic ball revieuws on you channel either
Would love to see some reviews of the $100-$150 Chinese cordless vacuums popular on Amazon to see how they stack up with regards to suction and to see if any can pass your sealed system hepa filtration test.
I have a question as opposed to a comment. My mom had a stroke and has lost most of the use of her right side. She is right handed we are trying to find my mom the best and most economical cordless vacuum. I want to a lot of people nowadays discovered nonsense I’m out of work so I’m looking to stay economical. I have watched your other videos but there are a couple things that you did not mention that I would like to ask and you may have mentioned in another video I’m not sure I’ve only watched three, lol. Since my mom is basically going to be using this one-handed the canister needs to be easy to open it needs to be relatively white light weight or easy to use one-handed so that she doesn’t get tired so easy movability or steerability I’m not sure if steerability is a word but I also have to be able to afford it so 2 to 300 and under what do you recommend? Thank you in advance for your time.
I've had the V7 for 2 years now. Major battery issues. Had to replace the battery twice. Gets hot and dies within 5 minutes. The hassle isn't worth the price.
Oh, no! Sorry to hear about that. I've just bought one and it's the best vacuum, for a lot of reasons, I've ever owned. At least the battery can be replaced--sort of like smartphones: if yo can replace the battery you're going to end up spending a lot more over time.
If you get one Mary and they are lovely, have you seen the Vac Daddy for keeping your new Dyson safely clean? www.vacdaddywand.com Makes it really simple taking seconds rather than an hour!
I have a an apartment (1,000) square ft & it’s all rug and this really gets the job done and it makes my carpet so much more fluffy but I do get those hair tangles in mine as well but I just take it out and keep on using the vacuum it’s no big deal
The v7 Absolute is 249 USD on Dyson's website now, far cheaper than the motorhead's pricing on Amazon. FYI. What do you think of the value of the v7 Absolute at 249 USD with an additional deep cleaning kit included for free? Thanks
I love dyson..for the one who experienced i love all of their products they re truly amazing..i dont know the people bragging about.other brands i m not entirely sure.if.they even try dyson before
hello i have a oreck magnesium works very good i had it for about 6 years very good vacuum i was thinking about upgrading to the new version the conquer elevate but there isn't any review on either one of them do you think you help me, i really like the conquer hope you read this love ur videos.
I’ve been waiting for this review, thank you soooo much for a great review and answering all the questions i had. I’ve had this vacuum for about a year and I Like it but I feel as Though the filtration could be better and would like to upgrade to a v10 or v11 absolute.😁
Hey! Been a sub for a bit but just now thinking about actually getting a new cordless vacuum. Would you rather have a v7 animal or the shark rocket pet pro? Thanks!
Mines broken after about 2 and a half years - kept very well, I've never let hair collect etc. The motorhead stopped spinning. Took a plastic covering off of the motorhead floor attachment to find two very skinny wires, one red, one black, have split right open as the sit and go down into the bend. Now if two very tiny wires are bent back and forth from general use.. over time they're going to split 😑 really disappointed with it. It does push larger crumbs around hard floors too. A new motorhead attachment is around £80, very expensive considering its a design floor. My mum has the V8 and has had the same issue once with hers, and also had to have the battery replaced twice. Really unacceptable for a top end brand like dyson, and they're not being helpful. So looks like I will have to spend another £250-350 on another hoover, not dyson though.
Hey, really cool channel! I subscribed. Can I have your opinion? I'm currently quite poor because of corona virus, but I need a vacuum cleaner at my home, because I have a thick carpet and regular floors. Which do you you recommend: MPM MOD-30 or Standart ST-KPA16, Multi-Cyclone. What's the main difference? I also have a a bit silly question. Can I use it as an air cleaner? you know, I jest let the machine run for a half an hour in my room at low RPM, while I go out. Best, Andres
There is also Dyson V7 Parquet Extra version exists in some markets that comes with soft brush instead of Motorhead and also HEPA-filter, but costs even less than Motorhead version.
I have the Dyson V7 cordless and love it but HATE cleaning the hair off the brush roll AND it's a major deal to take the roller out of the cleaning head...YUCK. But recently saw the Shark Cordless Pet Pro with sealed allergen system and HEPA filter with the SELF-CLEANING BRUSHROLL. While the Dyson has decent suction and I've been a Dyson owner for a very long time - a Dyson V7 cordless AND Dyson multifloor Upright (had the animal but found it too heavy to push) both great suction but have now ditched for the Shark Cordless Pet Pro AND Shark Rotator Lift-Away both with SELF-CLEANING DIRT EDGE BRUSHROLL. I own a cordless for kitchen, bath, laundry rooms with tile/LVP flooring and patio/deck rugs and the upright for deep cleaning carpets each month. The cordless comes in handy for a quick pick up before guests on both carpet and bare floors. But the game changer for me is the SELF-CLEANING BRUSH ROLL...with two English Springer Spaniels, this brush roll is a real game changer for me. Also I find the Shark Rotator Lift-Away superior to the Dyson MultiFloor because I can adjust the suction at the cleaning head making the Rotator a much easier vacuum to push/pull around thicker bedroom carpets. Also it maneuvers MUCH easier.
I got a V7 Motor Head Vac which did not work right out of the box. After extensive back and fort with the company I opted to take it to a Vacuum repair shop and pay for it myself. The brush did not work at all and come to find out it had a jam in it right out the box. The warranty is a piece of toilet paper as far as I'm concerned. But I'm still not happy with the performance. I have more air coming out of the MotorHead in my face than suction on the vacuum. The suction is very very poor, but if you get a fresh hairdo, it's gone because the air coming out off the handle part is just so strong. It seems like something is wrong with that model. It should have a lot better suction and blowing less air in your face. I also have a Multi Floor Ball II which is a little over 2 years old and it's back in the shop again for the 3rd time. 5 year warranty, but it's not worth to deal with Dyson. I'll pay for it myself again. They just want to sell, but not own the warranty.
Brendan Wilson in some markets they have been taken down. However when spring sales and Black Friday sales come about they suddenly appear on their website here in the uk. Just watch out when the sales come on and they usually put them on the website as far as i know. Best vacuum we’ve owned and had for about 3 years now!
I watched a video from another guy who says it's dangerous to use a mask made from a hepa bag. This might be why vacuum wars guy took it down? Vacuum Wars guy hasn't said why yet but it would be nice to hear his reasons. th-cam.com/video/qiYbXsIcI7E/w-d-xo.html
Yes! Most people don’t know that!! You can dust baseboards with it too! Have you seen the Vac Daddy for keeping your Dyson safely clean? www.vacdaddywand.com Makes it really simple taking seconds rather than an hour!
Still considering to get this even though my home is %80 hard floor and %20 carpet. I rarely clean bigger things than cat furl or dust on the floor so i wouldn't mind buying this one. There's a big price gap with v7 and v8 in my country sooo v7 it is.
I have a v7 motorhead and I agree with most of the things in this video but I disagree with the hair tangles. The head always gets tangles every day and if you forget to clean the head after 1 cleaning you’ll spend 20 minutes cleaning the head. Also about the time. I live in 2 story home and and my Dyson still gets the job done. Best use for this vacuum is stair performance.
Well I did mention it gets tangled fairly easily, more than the v8 at least. In fact 1 gram of 7 inch hair isnt that much, typically I expect dyson cordless vacs to resist that amount.
Me too! Have you seen the Vac Daddy for keeping your Dyson safely clean? www.vacdaddywand.com Makes it really simple taking seconds rather than an hour!
Awesome Mick! I think you will love this tool! Vac Daddy for keeping your Dyson safely clean www.vacdaddywand.com Makes it really simple taking seconds rather than an hour!
I had dyson dc 34 animal pro for 4 years i was really happy with my dyson suddenly the charger is dead or the battery the cost to replace and buy battery is a waste of time probably i need to move on to this one ☝️
think V10 for 400 is best purchase for price.. has most features of V11 for lot cheaper price... I'm also one of those guys who paid to have power lines in wall for my Tesla charger.. but cant pay for V11 with price difference in the V10.
I do not agree with your statements on Dyson being more reliable than most vacuum brands. While I respect that their halo products are indeed the ultimate, they [and any vacuum that uses a cyclone filtration system with complex ducting before the actual filter] are prone to suction loss due to blockage and smells after a year or so of use. Dyson are not a brand to by if you want the last vacuum you will ever need, they are for people who will use it occasionally or people who like to buy the latest and greatest every few years. Still enjoy your vids, just saying as someone who fixes these vacuums a lot.
I recently bought a Shark Ion F60. I really like it, but it is indeed heavy on my arms to use. It also gets lots of hair tangled in the brush roll and needs to be cleaned often. Other than that, its fantastic. I love how long the battery last on one charge, and my particular model came with a second battery. Oh, and I got it on sale at walmart for $169.00!
Man, I'm an idiot--just been commenting about the V8 and it turns out I bought a V8! Still a great machine for people like me--skeletal problems and some vertigo--who can really benefit from a lightweight, fast, quiet, cordless vacuum.

I did noise tests in the next video. I forgot to add it here.
Great channel. Thank you very much for all your work and for the presenting style.
Hey what happened to the video about using the vacuum bags to make masks?
Thanks for this useful video. I'd like to see my current vacuum undergo a power test, it can't even lift a single piece of dust.
Hi which cordless vaccum cleaner would you recommend for hardfloors
I am very surprised that this v7 got a 100% score on the deep clean test compared to the v8. The v8 has more suction in max than the v7. It goes go to show that suction is not the way to deep clean. As most people seem to think.
The v7 has less gates
V7 should be good enough for hardwood floors with rug? Just watch entire video. Guess I should step up to v8
Would you recommend a V8?
I have a question about Dyson V7 Animal Plus Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, does it have a fully sealed filtration system with the smoke test?
These are sealed and with a HEPA filter!

If you get one Mary and they are lovely, have you seen the Vac Daddy for keeping your new Dyson safely clean? www.vacdaddywand.com Makes it really simple taking seconds rather than an hour!
What's you're thoughts on the Bosch unlimited? Or Makita
I have a an apartment (1,000) square ft & it’s all rug and this really gets the job done and it makes my carpet so much more fluffy but I do get those hair tangles in mine as well but I just take it out and keep on using the vacuum it’s no big deal
V7 trigger is same as animal apart from extensions?
Hey vacuum wars, do you know if the larger brushroll is removable/replaceable from the Shark Apex Duoclean AX951?
The v7 Absolute is 249 USD on Dyson's website now, far cheaper than the motorhead's pricing on Amazon. FYI. What do you think of the value of the v7 Absolute at 249 USD with an additional deep cleaning kit included for free?
Thanks
How do you feel about the v7 fluffy?
Did you do a crevice pick- up test?
Thanks!
I just got my v8 Absolute in the mail today!
Can you do a review on the Equinox robot vacuum cleaner?
So looks like I will have to spend another £250-350 on another hoover, not dyson though.
i like seeing vacuums being tested so i know which ones to buy
Vacuum wars I brought this vacuum today I love it!!
Can you please review the philips speedpro aqua max
Nothing about noise levels?
Does this vacuum prevent hair wrap like the Shark Pet pro cordless zero M technology?
No
Can you test the dyson v10 motorhead
I should, I didnt pick one up for this series but I might.
There is also Dyson V7 Parquet Extra version exists in some markets that comes with soft brush instead of Motorhead and also HEPA-filter, but costs even less than Motorhead version.
woah that would be the perfect edition! shame its not common!
What would dyson be in phone terms? Apple or samsung🤔
Lol, Apple probably.
Apple
Then tineco is samsung?
Dyson would be Apple and Tineco would be Samsung
Something overpriced and pretensious, so probably Apple I think.
But I'm still not happy with the
performance. I have more air coming out of the MotorHead in my face than suction on
the vacuum. The suction is very very poor, but if you get a fresh hairdo, it's gone because
the air coming out off the handle part is just so strong. It seems like something is wrong
with that model. It should have a lot better suction and blowing less air in your face.
I also have a Multi Floor Ball II which is a little over 2 years old and it's back in the shop again
for the 3rd time. 5 year warranty, but it's not worth to deal with Dyson. I'll pay for it
myself again. They just want to sell, but not own the warranty.
Could you please do a review of the Xiaomi mi handheld vacuum?
Chinese troll. Stop spamming videos for evil Red China.
Good Video as always!
very nice and simple review
Is the V8 still actively marketed? I was on the Canadian Dyson site and they still advise V7s but make no mention of V8s.
Brendan Wilson in some markets they have been taken down. However when spring sales and Black Friday sales come about they suddenly appear on their website here in the uk. Just watch out when the sales come on and they usually put them on the website as far as i know. Best vacuum we’ve owned and had for about 3 years now!
Hey what happened to the corona virus vacuum video?.????
I watched a video from another guy who says it's dangerous to use a mask made from a hepa bag. This might be why vacuum wars guy took it down? Vacuum Wars guy hasn't said why yet but it would be nice to hear his reasons. th-cam.com/video/qiYbXsIcI7E/w-d-xo.html
Is that a galaxy s7 !? Wow nice, I still have mine
Hi. Waiting for Roborock T7 review.
This was very informative thank you!!
@everyone Dyson V11 Absolute or BOSCH Unlimited Series 8??
Do the Dyson Cinetic big ball
Amazing for anyone on a budget. Costs about £100 refurb/used with all tools
Review the dyson v6
You should compare every single dyson handheld stick vaccum with a moter head dc 35 and up, to make an epic comparison video
Thank you this was really helpful. :)

please review roborock H6
Review Xiaomi V10 pls
I never thought these old vacuums would make a comeback... it’s not really how technology generally works.
Very helpful thank you.
What about the v6?
Dyson seems to have discontinued it. The v7 is the lowest they go on their website.
I like my v6
My brand-new V7 works great on hard floors!
Need huge chapa city vacuam as ota cintainer Is so small
Do you think the V7 Allergy would pass your sealed system hepa filtration test?
Please ask Roborock to send you new H6. Can’t wait for the review.
@@VacuumWars My dyson motorhead gets tangled with my 4 inch hair
Got a v7 fluffy with a HEPA on sale for $200. No carpets in my house so it’s perfect.
I wish I would brought one!
You are the best. 👍
Love my Dyson v7 moter

the wall-socket in my home is 220v.
Is it safe to recharge the battery with it 220v or it going to burn up the battery?
I’m happy with my purchase then. Got it refurbished from eBay. From dyson themselves
Me too! Have you seen the Vac Daddy for keeping your Dyson safely clean? www.vacdaddywand.com Makes it really simple taking seconds rather than an hour!
Wait, so your saying I only have 6 minutes of high power hover 🥶🥶🥶
Just bought one.
U think the shark stick vacume is better?
dyson love😍
I recently bought a Shark Ion F60. I really like it, but it is indeed heavy on my arms to use. It also gets lots of hair tangled in the brush roll and needs to be cleaned often. Other than that, its fantastic. I love how long the battery last on one charge, and my particular model came with a second battery. Oh, and I got it on sale at walmart for $169.00!
Dyson has their V8 Absolute at the same price right now on their website.
I know it's crazy, I tall about that in the next video.
Man, I'm an idiot--just been commenting about the V8 and it turns out I bought a V8! Still a great machine for people like me--skeletal problems and some vertigo--who can really benefit from a lightweight, fast, quiet, cordless vacuum.
