    How i did it: never ONCE let my pup walk out the door without my approval since he was 8wks. Picked it up week 9, have never had an issue since (15mos). Anyone i know who has started late and/or let's the smallest things slide even once end up with no results. Strict, consistent. Be friends later. You'll be a proud parent

    I've trailed my Toller to not go through a doorway without a verbal command. That went sideways when a friend had to walk him while I was in the hospital, I got a panicked call "he won't go outside!"
    "You mean he won't pee?"
    "No! He just sits at the door and I can't even drag him out!"
    Needless to say my husband and I had a good laugh and there's now a card by the door with pupper's "cheat codes" for the next emergency!

    I have an American Stafforshire/Pitbull hybrid, hands down best girl in the world. She was about 2 years old when I adopted her, and the first command I taught her was "wait". Any time she needs to wait for anything, I give her the command in my best dominant and stern voice, and she does not move a muscle until to tell her "go ahead". It's all in the training.

    I saw a dog that someone was sitting bolt out the door and get struck by a bus. The sitter felt horrible, the owner should have trained it to wait. Plus this was on Halloween, the dog should have been crated. As result several dozen kids were traumatized until a neighbor and I were able to cover with a blanket and "quiet" the obviously dying dog.

    When my dog was still a pup, she had a habit of running outside. We have a fenced in backyard, so this was acceptable at home and she learned to not dash out the front door real quick.
    However, during a lake trip to the family cabin, she ran out. But she was playful, so I tried to entice her back by being energetic and holding one of her fav toys (something we were practicing for anti-distraction training. To get her to come without being called away by someone else). It worked and she came back. But it’s intensely terrifying for a new pup owner to have their dog dash out the door

    • @erikcarrillo7378
      @erikcarrillo7378 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @sayhello5377 Lmao stop spending your money. Buy some treats and a good leash and just start training. If your dog is too hyper to listen, take it outside and tire the shit out of it. It's simply stuff honestly. When it's feeding time I got my dog coming to me, sitting down, laying down, rolling over, and finally giving me his paw so that he can get his food. Do stuff like that on repeat and then they'll do it even when you don't have food.

    I needed to really get ahold of my Dobermans when they were young, my female though the road In front of our house, “which is a nasty old dirt road”. was only for us. No one was allowed down this road and how dare the S.O.B that went down “our “road! She was going to tear them up! Well she was seven months old and got hit, the truck was bigger than she was. Ten horrific days in the hospital and three surgeries she pulled through, not with out a bucket of tears and a barrel of money!

    My dog can already do this and I didn’t train him with a leash although he already knew how to stay when we got him

    I tell my pup to sit by the door and speak to be leashed and taken outside. He took to it really quick. Now he goes to the door and barks when he needs to go.
