14,000 MILES - A Journey To Mongolia (Mongol Rally Movie)

  • A group of friends entitled 'The Dusty Kiwis' take on the Mongol Rally in their 998cc Nissan Micra 93, also named Molé. In an epic roadtrip of the ages, they travel from England to Mongolia without assistance or thorough planning, encountering numerous breakdowns and challenges along the way. The 2018 rally comprised of nearly 300 teams and took place over 3 months.
This was a non-profit venture. Any funds the Dusty Kiwi's raised went to The New Zealand Mental Health Foundation and Cool Earth. The trip itself was funded entirely out of the team members own pocket.
Thank you to The Adventurists who continue to organise and make these events possible.

I thought "hell no, I'm not watching that!" when I saw it was nearly two hours long. But I just watched the whole video and it didn't dissappoint. I have wanted to participate in Mongol Rally for years, but I don't think I'll ever do. Don't think I have friends crazy enough to go on a journey like that. But who knows what the future might hold..

Well done, professionally put together and you answer the big questions that we have: what is each country like, what are the people like, what were the challenges? You did a good job describing each of these.

I loved this doc! It was fantastic. As for Iran I think the main difference is the government vs the wonderful people. It's unfortunate that it gets such a bad rap from their tyrannical government like many places in the middle east. Loved how you really focused on the highs and the lows, a lot of the mongol rally doc's I've found doesn't really show the down times, and if they do it's for a brief moment. Well done Dusty Kiwi's! Blessings of light and love! May your travels and adventures never end.

-From South Korea-

K10 owner and Mongol Rally fan here - really wouldn't have been my first choice but the MA engines in those are plucky as anything - one of mine's done 232,000 miles and still ran when I parked it up (due to rust).
    Nicely edited, great watch. :)

Guys, what a brilliant movie... We just found your road movie absolutely randomly on a Tuesday evening in the middle of the pandemic after a long day of remote office work, and we didn't know what a gem we're about to watch. Wonderful achievement, beautiful scenes-sights-clips, and there is actually a moral to the story, (great storytelling). Honsetly thank you for this beautiful experience, thank you for sharing your story, and special kudos for Megan for being such an iron lady and being vulnerable in the same time.

I was not sure if I'd make it to the end of this lengthy clip but here I am glued to my phone until the ending credit. You should def enter your road movie into competitions they are really well edited with great storytelling. Now I would like to enter the 2022 edition hopefully with my wife and my currently 16 month old daughter ;)

Awesome to hear you enjoyed it! We were wanting to, but all the music is unlicensed so we couldn't unfortunately. I do however have a couple of short films on the horizon that I will enter into competitions. You should definitely do the rally! I'm not too sure about taking your 16 month old daughter though haha

Is it possible to get around the 1.2-liter max for a car? Seems like a VW golf or old land rover would be great for this and a lot safer, would it be possible to somehow still participate but not officially if you had a car that was 1.4 liters or so?
