Multitrack recording of the Oberheim Matrix-6. All sounds are made with the Matrix-6, except drums: Roland TR-626 and Boss DR-55. All processing in Ableton Live.
Lovely demonstration. I remember I did demo of my shortly I got it (and I actually got another demo to post), amazing versatility and sound, I keep using it so often. Anyways... Keep posting on bandcamp, I still miss there some of my favourite pieces. All the best!
Best demo of this wonderful synth ! I possess the unit used for the technical pages of the (french) Keyboard Magazine in 1987, so i've passed the half of my life with it ! ^^ I will never sell it, it'a tank with no problem ever, a real character and a fine versatility as we can see in this nice video ! Better use it with a controler, the Behringer BCR 2000 is OK but the best is the Kiwi controler a bit expensive but especially made for the Matrix 6 and some other vintage synths !
Hey, nice job in all respects. I bought mine when it first came out and played and programmed the Matrix 6 for about twenty-five years. I finally got a bit tired of its flavour, but your demo makes me think that there is a place for it in some of what I do.
Thanks! The matrix is now with me since 4 months, so I’m still new to it’s interface and flavor. My experience till now is that while programming it it’s really inspiring, but when recording it’s not that easy to dial in the sounds on the spot. Playing it is a real joy though. It’s so expressive with all the modulation capabilities.
The Matrix 6 and the 12 don't have the same filter, i think the 12 sounds more like the OB series (Majestuous and proof) as the Matrix 6 is particular, a bit more "sneezy" but with a special character...and the Matrix modulation is the same than on the Matrix 12 so the possibilities on programmation are not inferior...about 3 billions of possibilities as marked on the technical book ! ;-)
Wonderful sounding synth & the demo really takes it to another level.
Thanks!
This is a wonderful performance that brings out the potential of Matrix-6.
Thanks!

"Owner of a Matrix-6...much better than the owner of an OB-6..."
Well done. Everybody is going crazy for the Behringer copy, while for the same money, one can buy a real Oberheim...
